Developer Update April

Greeting fellow tinkerers,

It’s been a few moons since the last update, and we are now back to share some more information about what we have been up to! Last year, we talked about a major project that we started working on with a new database rework that is going to help us with performance and much more. Work is moving forward and will soon be ready to be released with a major update, but let’s jump in and look at the progress and what you will get your hands on soon.

New biome, monsters, and dungeon!

Since last time, the team has been focused on the lava biome, adding several points of interest, new enemies, and finalizing a new dungeon for you to explore. The lava biome can get extremely hot, so make sure you're wearing the proper equipment before venturing inside.

Just like our other dungeons, you'll need to find the missing pieces to unlock the entrance to the boss. But be warned, the road is treacherous and filled with traps.

New things to catch and craft!

Some fishes have already adapted to the new biome. So, in the upcoming update, we will introduce several new species. With the right gear, bait and strategy, you might be able to catch what's swimming beneath the fiery lava rivers - just be careful!

But wait, that's not all! We are also adding a bunch of new furniture pieces, walls, and flooring to the game. NPCs will also be getting new and unique pieces of furniture to decorate their homes and additional rewards.

Database Rework

We have been working on reworking our database to improve its stability and performance. Currently, save files consist of more than 10,000 individual files, which can negatively affect performance, particularly on slow hard drives. As a result, the game will now run smoother overall. The new save game is an SQLite file, which will enable us to introduce more complex changes in the future without compromising existing player saves. Additionally, this will allow very invested players to modify save games to match their preferences. However, we want to make it clear that this is NOT mod support.

We do not want to give away too much, so there are plenty of surprises waiting for you in the upcoming update. We are currently putting the final touches on it, as well as preparing something exciting. Keep an eye on our social media or join our Discord community to stay updated!

NPC happiness meter rewards are here!

Dear Tinkerers,

You've worked so hard to make your townians in Tinkertown happy - you deserve a treat, don't you think? 🙏

We certainly do. And that's why we're launching the NPC happiness meter rewards today! When you meet the requests and build the dream homes for the townians, they will in turn give you sweet items as rewards!

With update 1.1.0, we have also continued to focus on fixes and bug chasing. More of that will come as well! Speaking of more, with this update Tinkertown also got a whole lot more shiny! Our artist has been working hard in their magic workshop, and come out with a lot of great particle effects. Aside from looking rad, they will also enhance the feeling of impact when hitting a goblin in the head or chopping wood. A li'l sneak peek below!

Next in line for Tinkertown is more fixes, and also the Holiday update, which will be live in the near future! Connected to the Holiday content, we're also going to give you a cool insight behind the scenes. We're preparing a few videos that will show how Tinkertown and it's characters are built, from a developer perspective.

A lot to look forward to! For a full list of what's in this patch, take a gander below:
  • Various minor bugs and issues fixed
  • The Happiness Meter System now rewards players for each filled heart at an NPC. Just decorate their homes or replace their old furniture, walls and doors with things they like, by adding Quest Items and checking their preferences in the Journal
  • A total of 57 Items can be unlocked including the brand new Spawner Items.
  • Spawners like statues and the chicken coop will spawn animals and friendly monsters, some of them can even fight when encountering enemies within their spawn area.
  • Upgraded and distinguished effects on enemy hits
  • Added effects when hit by enemies
  • Added missing weapon effects
  • Added effects for tools

Take care and thanks for supporting our game!
