Multiplayer Update is OUT NOW!

Greetings Tinkerers!

As you may know (from your own experience), we had to deal with multiplayer connection issues between players since the early access release of Tinkertown. It was an urgent issue that prevented many players from enjoying Tinkertown together with their friends and family.

Since then, we worked constantly to find the root of the issue, gathered your bug reports and tried to deliver workarounds to the best of our abilities and still develop new content simultaneously. Some of the workarounds and the UPnPsupport patch helped some of the players, but not everyone.

But today is the day we can finally announce the release of our major Multiplayer Update!

We put a lot of work into the update and reworked the multiplayer of Tinkertown significantly.

For example, Tinkertown now uses the “PlayFab Party” service for online multiplayer. We updated the network code, fixed issues where players could not connect to each other, allow players to play offline, and even solved some issues where some players were not able to start a single player game!

The update should finally be the solution for all players to connect to each other reliably and without any issues. And we hope that you’re all able enjoy the improved multiplayer experience!

This update is a big leap for us, and we are already on track for the next major content update.

Early Access 0.5.0 Patch Notes:
  • Multiplayer now uses "PlayFab Party" service
  • Fixed plenty of issues where players could not connect to each other
  • Implemented cloud-based relay servers, allowing players with strict NAT types to connect
  • Improved NAT punchthrough
  • Improved data encryption between server and client endpoints
  • Updated network code
  • Fixed an issue where players could not play single player while offline
  • Fixed an issue where maps could not be deleted from within the ingame menu
  • Players can now save multiple maps with the same seed
  • Improved server performance and memory usage
  • Updated intro splash screen

So stay tuned for more information and teasers about the next update.
