The Road Ahead



Dear Tinkerers,

When we first started developing Tinkertown 3 years ago, we never expected it to turn into this huge and beautiful world full of adventures you can experience today. Throughout the years we were able to watch our team, Tinkertown’s features and most importantly you, our community, grow. We are more than thankful to be able to work on this project and are equally grateful for your continuous support and feedback. After all the hard work that has been put into the game, we are happy to share that we are getting close to the end of Early Access for Tinkertown.



But before we’ll be launching this huge project into 1.0, we still have some work and awesome features pending for the game to reach its full potential

Let’s be honest: Our game still has a few rough edges, including features we’ve implemented but needed to cut out again (yes, I’m looking at you gathering for NPC:s!) and some that have yet to find their way into the game (we’re not exclusively talking about the Lava Biome). However, this is going to change! As you might have seen in the last two months since our last bigger update, we’ve focused on smaller patches and will continue to do so on a regular basis, as well as keeping YOU informed about what’s happening behind the scenes. Don’t fret, even though we call them smaller updates, they contain much more than you think.

Here are some examples of planned updates, to give you an idea:
  • Database update: Paving the way for Cloud Saves and majorly improved performance. Plus, this feature serves as the groundwork to update various features.
  • Quest Rework: A new interface to keep track of every quest you’re doing and have been doing and its rewards
  • Updated UI: An easier-to-read UI, crafting stations, as well as a library to check for every recipe out there!
  • A new NPC feature: We will dedicate this topic more space at a later time, but it will keep you much more engaged in supporting and getting to know your new neighbors
  • New Map: An updated World Map, as well as a new tool to make it easier to navigate through ;)

Additionally, we are preparing various iterations of our current system (including, but not limited to):
  • Dying in dungeons will be more forgiving
  • Adjustments on Biome Flora for better exploration

Fixes and Updates



Early Access 0.16.9

Time for Tinker Tuesday treasured Tinkerers!

In this patch you should make sure to visit Tina, The Farmers' old House again. In order to avoid the complete loss of Key Items through any means, we're creating failsaves like these, making it easy to regain them. Goodbye Softlock!

The satisfying act of trashing gets a little deserved love and we also continue to chase away those pesky bugs.

The full patch notes are as follows:

  • Relocated farmer tools to a mini dungeon in the basement of the farmer shack (new world required)
  • Added sound effect for trashing items
  • Fixed some localization issues
  • Fixed failing bug reporting and reworked error messages in case the reporting fails
  • Minor fixes

Bugs and Fixes the 3rd



Dear Tinkerers,

What's that sound? It's the Tinker Tuesday Train coming to make your game better! In this update we've fixed and added the following:

Early Access 0.16.8
  • Fixed a bug where indestructible tiles on predefined chunks could be replaced with dirt
  • Fixed an issue where projectiles would disappear if the player stands close to a wall
  • Added interaction highlight for NPC:s.
  • Fast travel stations can now be placed on floor (already placed stations need to be build again before placing floor underneath)
  • Improvements on hook shot positions in ice Dungeon
  • Fixed an issue where some popups would be shown without any text.
  • Localization improvements in settings menu.




Our aim is to deliver you patches each Tuesday leading up to the 1.0 release later this year. In fact, we have some exciting news coming up this Thursday!

More Bug Fixes

Dear Tinkerers,

it feels like we’re reviving Tinker Tuesday! A new patch arrived, tackling more bugs and also polishing some of our content. Stay tuned, there‘s more fixes and some bigger features on the way!

Check it out:
  • Fixed a bug where shrine maidens block off the player after dying
  • Fixed some text issues on quests
  • Fixed a bug where wall of fire would cause friendly fire
  • Fixed an issue where hook positions in Ice Dungeon would not be reachable
  • Fixed a bug where shovel cursor is duplicated when joining the game with equipped shovel
  • Fixed an issue where placing an item in predefined chunks could replace items underneath (new world needed)
  • Added missing localization in menus

Patch 0.16.6.

Awesome Tinkerers,
in a bustling world like Tinkertown there's bound to be some icky bugs.
And no, we're not talking about Pixie Fairies, but ones in the code. 

We sprayed some with our digital bug spray:
  • Added NPC icon to new recipes to show at which NPC they can be crafted 
  • Fixed severalt issues related to dirt placement and terraforming
  • Fixed a bug where Magura gets stuck in minion boss fight in ice dungeon
  • Fixed a bug where dungeons never reset if a player disconnects while they are inside
  • Slowed down dungeon hints to be actually readable Minor fixes
 

We're going back to our shed to get another can of that precious bug spray. Stay tuned - we will be back soon with more bug fixes for the game!
