Update 1.38 Patch Notes

1.38.3 (July 20)
  • Upgrade Cabinets in custom maps are no longer affected by the Custom Map Volume setting.
  • Changed the "Part of the X Bundle" button to say "View the X Bundle" to make its purpose more clear.
  • The description input in the report menu now clears after cancelling or submitting a report.
  • You can no longer report a player for the same reason twice. (For real this time)
  • Added an ADS sensitivity setting.


1.38.2 (July 16)
  • Fixed a spelling error with the /players command.
  • Added support for command arguments to contain spaces by surrounding the argument with quotes. For example "test test" will now be interpreted as a single argument instead of two.
  • Fixed an issue introduced in 1.38.0 where you could not unlock achievements while in the main menu.
  • Increased the robustness of the backend server connections so that if players load the game during a server restart, they do not encounter issues.
  • You can no longer report a player for the same reason twice.
  • You can now specify a description of why you are reporting someone in the report menu.

Voice Chat Update!

[p]Hello folks! I'm back with some big changes and a ton of bugfixes.[/p]
Voice Chat
[p]I've always felt that the communication in Redmatch 2 has been a bit lacking, so I've worked the past few months on getting voice chat working in-game. The default mode is Global, and you can enable Proximity Chat in match settings (which is especially fun for Infection!). You can use either push-to-talk or open mic, and individually adjust player volumes in the escape menu. If you encounter players abusing the voice chat feature, please report them and the moderation team will investigate. Voice chat can be deactivated completely if you don't want to use it.[/p][p][/p]
Chat Translation
[p]If you click a message in chat and choose "Translate" you can now translate it into your current game language using DeepL's free translation service. You'll need to set up a DeepL account to use this. The full instructions are in-game.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Improved Player Reporting
[p]To report a player, click them on the scoreboard, on a chat message, or in the escape menu in the player voice chat list, and choose "Report."[/p][p]The player reporting system in Redmatch 2 has always been lackluster. Previously reporting players did not do anything, and just told you in chat to report players on the Discord server. Now, reporting players in-game provides you with several options which will report the player directly to our moderation team. For evidence of hacking, you will still need to join the Discord to upload photo/video evidence, but reporting them in-game will help us identify hackers more quickly. There are no automated actions based on reports, so don't worry about getting report spammed.[/p][p][/p]

  • [p]You can now copy the content of messages sent in chat by right clicking them.[/p]
  • [p]Added an in-game report feature. For evidence of hacking, you will still need to join the Discord to upload photo/video evidence. However, this makes reporting text or voice chat much easier, and it will be easier for moderators to quickly react to reports.[/p]
  • [p]Added an appeals system. If you believe you were wrongfully muted, banned from the game, or banned from using custom skins or banners, you can now appeal here.[/p]

  • [p]Completely overhauled the UI for the settings menu to match the rest of the game.[/p]
  • [p]When you get a kill, the name will show up at the top of your personall killfeed instead of the bottom, which will prevent kill text from appearing off screen.[/p]
  • [p]Minimum FPS is now 30 instead of 3.[/p]
  • [p]Increased max physics tickrate to 300. Making this setting higher will make gameplay smoother on high refresh rate monitors.[/p]
  • [p]You can now adjust the volume of custom maps independently from normal game audio. This is useful for cases where custom maps have their own music or sound effects.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted the way volume sliders work to be more consistent with expectations.[/p]
  • [p]You will now be able to see if a player has been muted while in the main menu lobby next to their username, and it is faster to display mute status changes on the scoreboard.[/p]
  • [p]The host icon has been replaced with a crown.[/p]
  • [p]Added a VSync setting.[/p]
  • [p]Improved the way commands work to provide more descriptive error messages. Use /help to see all available commands.[/p]
[p]Bugfixes[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where failing to vote to ban would sometimes display the wrong error message (low level instead of cooldown).[/p]
  • [p]Chat and vote bans no longer appear over the escape menu.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a clipping issue with chat when there was only 1 message present.[/p]
  • [p]Improved how achievements save progress, so players who were unable to progress on Workplace Catastrophe, etc. should no longer have issues. Unfortunately this means any existing progress on these achievements will be reset.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where scoped mouse sensitivity would affect the sensitivity of the sniper even when not using the telescopic scope.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where sometimes a notification message of every ban ever made would be sent to the chat.[/p]
  • [p]The game will show an error message when it fails to connect to Steam instead of crashing.[/p]
  • [p]The chat rate limit is no longer affected by the slow motion at the end of a match.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where you could not earn achievements on custom maps.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where spamming a match setting as the match started would allow you to override a custom map's forced match setting.[/p]

Update 1.37 Patch Notes

1.37.2 (February 25)
  • You can now sprint while reloading with the Rifle, Shotgun, and Sniper (the revolver always had sprinting while reloading)
  • Slightly decreased the speed at which the shotgun recoil returns to default, meaning sustained firing will have a higher accuracy penalty
  • Changed the way Mod and Dev tags appear in-game
  • Fixed a bug where you could not start sprinting during a reload with a gun that allowed it


1.37.1 (February 7)
  • Fixed an issue where custom skins with an offset would be stretched
  • Fixed an issue where having a color set in a Resource Pack's icon_button_background.json would kick you from the match
  • The correct player count now displays in the escape menu during a match

Stability Update 1.37

Hello everyone! It's time for some quality of life and stability improvements, as well a new addition to Resource Packs.

Changes
  • Upgrade Cabinets can now be changed through Resource Packs (upgrade_cabinet.png). See the UV map on the documentation here
  • Added a video to the skin creation menu to help players avoid a common issue
  • Made improvements to the news modal UI on the main menu
  • Added more descriptive error messages when creating a custom skin
  • Default match time has been changed from 3 minutes to 5 minutes
  • Added a 4MB limit to custom skins
  • Added more spawns to Arena
  • Increased the list of websites that can be used for custom skins
  • Max match size has been lowered to 30 (player disconnects start to happen with more than 30 players, which leads to a bad experience for everyone)
  • Localization improvements


Bugfixes
  • Popular Custom Maps now shows the top maps of the last week instead of all time (this was the original intention, but it was bugged)
  • If a tooltip is visible when a map is loaded, it will no longer be stuck on screen
  • The match info screen in the escape menu in-game no longer shows the improper player count
  • The reset button on the color panel on Playground now works again
  • It should no longer be possible for empty chat messages to be sent
  • Optimized custom skin loading
  • Made improvements to make banner GIF rendering timing more consistent at low framerates
