Epica Update 3.0.4

With the recent changes the starting zone required some updates, which are now taking shape.

  • Updated the lobby character.
  • Enabled swimming.
  • Added forests and a river around the Tarnmill region.
  • Added a chat message on item pickup.



  • Optimized Ai spawning / despawning
  • Added Ai to the Tarnmil Tomb
  • Added a new Archer Ai to the Tomb
  • Added a new Mage Ai to the Tomb
  • Added Ai to the Castle Brock Dungeon



  • Addressed lightning issues in the Tarnmill region and Castle Brock
  • Fixed a bug resulting in some Ai not properly despawning.
  • Fixed an issue with noisy shadows (anti aliasing noise).
  • Fixed an issue with the loot dropping through the Tarnmill Tomb floor.

  • Added more location content to the starting zone.
  • Added a Tavern and Castle Brock outside of Tarnmill.

  • The Ai is now dynamically spawned / de-spawned in the world.
  • Ai interactions will now switch to an immersive camera view.

  • Updated the layout of the lobby patch notes.
  • Updated the game world back to Unreal Engine's World Partition system, a single world instead of many levels.

  • Fixed some issues with attacking.
  • Fixed: Clicking the Actionbar attack icon launches player attack.

Updated various icons according to adjusted inventory icon layout.

Epica Update 3.0.1

Added a Message of the Day panel, on display when joining a game - to highlight more recent updates.

Settings

• The setting for autorun has been enabled.
• The default FPS is now 30.
• Default video settings have been optimized.
• Added FPS display / enable in General Settings



Quests

• All quests have now voice audio.
• Added talk animations to all quest NPC
• Added the first quest chain.



Fixed

• Boars can now be attacked.
• Addressed several issues with the Tarnmill guards.

Tweaks

• Several player and Ai default stats have been tweaked, a process still ongoing.

Major Epica Update 3.0

Today we release the Epica 3.0 beta client.

[h3]Overview[/h3]
The 3.0 Epica Build features the following:

  • Re-introduces the 3D player and world view
  • New game world design
  • New interface design
  • Ladder Reset
  • Game code prepared for multiplayer




[h3]General Notes[/h3]
The new game world is still being worked on, with more quests, NPCs, and balancing. Naerock the name of the game world in Epica is now divided into different Acts, instead of a single big level.

Though, this new release is only playable in the starting zone. Upcoming patches will introduce more quests and open more game regions.

The ladder was reset for the first time, you can still access the previous ladder rankings via the ladder panel menu.

The main focus is currently on tweaking existing content, including balancing and character progression, and to populate Act 1 with more content. Additional the following features will be rolled out soon:
