Beta Client 0.1.7.1 Hotfix

Hotfix 0.1.7.1 addressed a bug introduced with last patch, breaking NPC interaction. This has been fixed.

Beta Client 0.1.7 Patch Notes

[h2]Player[/h2]
  • Added Attack with Left Mouse click, in addition to pressing the skill icons on the skillbar. Per default the standard attack is used, otherwise the last used skill.
  • Changed the initial player spawning location.

Beta Client 0.1.6 Patch Notes

New Content Atoll of Naerocks

Added a real starting zone, a small atoll near Naerocks where the player initially spawns. This serves as the lore introduction, and should help to improve new player experiences, when the path forward at the start is more straight forward.
The atoll theme includes a ship wreck scenery.
Added three quests to the new starting zone.
Added a flying mount which brings the player to Naerocks village.

[h3]Greatsword[/h3]
  • Updated the walking, running and idle animations for two handed swords.


[h2]AI[/h2]
  • The AI hearing range has been decreased, and their affiliation with other friendly ai. Meaning, i.e. skeletons should no longer rush in a big group to you when entering small dungeon corridors.
  • Decreased the sight radius the ai can detect the player slightly.


[h3]Boars[/h3]
  • Set base damage to 3
  • Increased capsule radius to 60, boars should less overlap with the player and other entities.
  • Set attack cooldown to 4 seconds, instead of 3. However, because the boar has three different attack types, a single boar may eventually attack three times in a row, but then pause.


[h3]Giant Crabs[/h3]
  • Added four second attack cooldown to reduce attack rate.


[h2]Items[/h2]
  • Adjusted coin prices for many weapons
  • Adjusted damage for many weapons.
  • Added coin prices to many weapons


[h2]Fixed[/h2]
  • Certain NPC’s spawned twice on Naerocks Island, this has been addressed and should no longer happen with NPC Larto, or the group listening to the Bard playing guitar.
  • Loot is now properly removed from corpses upon looting.


[h2]Disabled[/h2]
  • Disabled player character on flying mount. There is an issue with cloth not properly animated.


[h2]Login[/h2]
  • The login has been re-enabled and should work now as intended. If you encounter login problems, report them here. The login should also fix the issue with character selections, eg. users could only use the first created character. We still plan to add the option to play without login requirement, but this is not a priority at this time.


[h2]Next Update Plans[/h2]
  • Improve starting zone design
  • Enable rankings
  • Better align current equipped weapon to player hand, eg. greatsword.


[h2]Known issue[/h2]
  • The Base Attack skillbar icon may not be visible. In this case open the Game Menu with ESC, pick Leave game, and click on Play.

[h2]Welcome Panel[/h2]
The Herold of Naerocks is now on display when starting to play, a panel with brief information of important keybindings, and news.

To improve the experience for new players in the next patch we will add a special NPC to the starting zone, welcoming the player and offering a starter quest.

Per default the player is now invisible, but appears once the player starts to move.

[h2]New Keybindings[/h2]
Added the keybindings for drawing the currently equipped weapon (and shield if there is one), to the settings for keys.

Added the keybinding for switching between movement modes, mainly walking or running. Thanks to user dugalm who brought this to my attention.

[h2]Known Issues[/h2]
For a current overview of issues we now also have a dedicated discussion, found here. There have been some changes to address rendering of the equipped weapon, perhaps this has been fixed, we still investigate this.

[h2]Other Changes[/h2]
Initial loading of the world should be now more accurate, meaning the loading bar may be only briefly or a bit longer visible, depending on loading of the starting zone.

Generally the starting zone is apparently one of the game regions with more content, since everything is in close proximity on the island. Additional, content is not yet fully optimized for best performances.

[h2]Updates[/h2]
  • The login has been disabled for the time being.
  • Reduced enemy damage


The past two weeks were spent migrating the player stored data from Amazon Gamesparks to Epic Online Services. The problem is now that only the developer can login (unless you grant manual access), since the game is not yet reviewed by Epic Games.

So while here works everything as intended with the user authentication it isn't for the community. Luckily, the data storage solution is setup do work without authentication, which will possibly become a feature in the future.

Login is needed to keep track of rankings for the ladder, storing player data, adding achievements, and so on.
