You’ll get to learn about folks from both Gearbox and 2K, and how each person who touches the game both influences and is influenced by Borderlands 4. This week, we're talking with Joseph Joyal, Gearbox’s Senior VFX Artist:[/p][p]
[/p][p]What makes a VFX moment truly memorable, in your opinion?[/p][p]Joseph: As an artist, for me it’s more the VFX that make me stop and think "How did they accomplish this?" If I have to stop what I am doing and start breaking apart what is happening in the effect, it is going to be memorable to me. It is not always the big moment or flashy VFX but new approaches and styles that draw my eye.[/p][p] [/p][p]How do you know when an effect is “done?”[/p][p]Joseph: I am sure most artists would agree, our work is never done in our eyes. The challenge for knowing when a visual effect is done comes down to a few things. First: does it accomplish its gameplay intention? Then, if it's a big moment or Action Skill type of effect, it needs to hit that threshold for uniqueness and wow factor while still being performant. This is when you need to get feedback from your fellow VFX Artists and Art Direction teams to make sure you hit the standards that are set for the game. After a while it becomes second nature to know when to stop and move on to the next VFX.[/p][p] [/p][p]Do you have a favorite type of effect to create?[/p][p]Joseph: I love making electricity and Shock effects. I find them to be the most fun to explore and play around with. You can make them look unique in completely different ways. There is also the challenge of finding better processes and ways to create electrical VFX that I really enjoy exploring.[/p][p]
[/p]
Community Creative Corner
[p]Our community members aren’t just gamers—many of you are also artists. Whether it’s cosplay, digital art, or some yet-to-be-invented medium, we’re your biggest fans. Check out this week’s hand-picked fan creations:[/p][p][/p][p]wayreyn_art[/p][p][/p][p]rism1223[/p][p][/p][p]That’s it for this week—with more updates, more chaos, and maybe a few surprises coming next Friday. Until then: keep your ECHOnet tuned and your loot luck high.[/p][p]Happy Hunting,
The Borderlands Team[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p][p]

A new, repeatable world event with set locations in the Fadefields, Carcadia Burn, and Terminus Range will let all players farm for Pearlescent gear; we'll share more details soon.[/p][p][/p]
Bounty Pack 2 Vault Card
[p]Bounty Pack 2 also includes a Vault Card that lets you earn new mecha- and kaiju-themed rewards through gameplay, with 24 cosmetic items and 4 pieces of rerollable gear to unlock! • [p]Option 2: Purchase Bounty Pack 2 individually[/p]
[p]*Legend of the Stone Demon is the second of five post-launch DLC Bounty Packs coming to Borderlands 4.
