Major VR Performance Update

This is one of many upcoming performance updates aimed at maximizing your gaming experience. With this update, our focus is on refining the game's performance, particularly for VR devices.

Key Changes:

Rendering Optimization:

We've transitioned from multi-pass rendering to single-pass instanced rendering, a significant enhancement that promises a notable boost in VR performance. This transition required extensive modifications across shaders, materials, particle systems, effects, and assets.
Engine Upgrade:

Our BeachHead project has been upgraded to the latest engine version, facilitating the rendering change. This upgrade also introduces additional engine optimizations that benefit the game's performance across the board.

Skybox Optimization:

In the VR version, we've replaced the volumetric skybox with a static skybox. While the visual changes may seem subtle, this adjustment significantly improves performance without compromising the immersive day and night cycle. The skybox material seamlessly transitions between different time settings.

Additional Enhancements:

Asset Updates: Numerous assets have been revised and updated to ensure optimal performance and visual consistency.

Gameplay Fine-Tuning: We've seized the opportunity to refine various gameplay aspects, including visual effects, ensuring a smoother and more immersive experience.

Ongoing Commitment:

This update marks just the beginning of our ongoing efforts to enhance BeachHead. We remain dedicated to addressing player feedback and continually improving the game. While we've conducted extensive testing, it's possible that unforeseen issues may arise. We appreciate your support and encourage you to reach out if you encounter any issues.
