Dev Log #10 - Here's The Dirt
Hey everyone!
Welcome to dev log #10 'Here's The Dirt'
It's time to get a little filthy as this week we are looking closely at many of the dirt types and showing them being cleaned in action! We have covered the system of the dirt before with the layering system (easier to remove dirt on top layer -> more stubborn dirt in lower layers) in a past dev log you can read here too to get more clued in on the how of dirt!

We'd mentioned the past few weeks we wanted to cover audio but instead of a singular dev log we'll be working with Lowrider Sound who've created all the audio for the game on a series of videos to deep dive into everything sounds!
Last week's developer log is available here where we talked about the deep and compelling narrative that propels PWS story!
Onto this week's log!
As we've mentioned in the previous log, there is layering system and we'll be taking a look at some of the dirt in each of the layers. These layers and dirt types will be added to during Early Access! So be sure to let us know if there's something particularly grimy you'd love to spray away!
Surface dirt is the level one dirt that the widest nozzle your white tip will mostly clean relatively well and with a controlled and concentrated spray can clean large areas of this least stubborn dirt!
This level includes: Bird Poo, Dust, Egg, Grime, Mud, Mud Splats, Sand

Fun fact, bird poo is mostly found around overhanging trees, in perching spots and rooves to emulate the real life avian toilet hot zones!
For now, this layer has the lonely Dirt Streaks inhabiting it, but don't fret with a little patience it can completely disappear with even wider nozzles.

Hello to many of the living dirt types, we have Algae, Lichen and Moss to keep everything naturally colourful! For these slightly more stubborn dirts you'll need the yellow tip on your starter power washer or green tips on later upgrades to get it off effectively. Swish and flick!

What you looking at tough guy? These stains again will dodge your white tips spray but with some more concentrated action from a nozzle will bow down to your pressure...
Hello and goodbye Gime Stains + Mould!

These dirt types will just stick around and they don't really know when to go! You'll be able to get rid of them with some concentration though, but a red tip on your starter power washer is going to be preferred!
Two of the terrible culprits, the 'damn it's on my shoe' - Chewing Gum

Plus, 'what a terrible tag' - Graffiti!

This type of dirt has really been around for a while now and is ingrained. For now, Rust, is the lonely member on this layer. You'll need to take your time with rust and a red tip is preferred though with the most powerful pressure washers taking your time with a yellow tip cleaning isn't too arduous.

We do also understand that pressure washing rust in particular isn't that simple, it does happen in real life but you may be more accustomed to laser or sand blasting rust removal. A lot of the rust removal with power washing will come with some chemical element and whilst we do have soaps that will effect this layer a acid or other primer isn't in yet. So there may need to be some slight suspense of disbelief, but hey in one of the jobs you'll be cleaning a giant shoe... so there's that!
As always we'd love to hear feedback on anything shown today, so please let us know any of your thoughts in the comments below! :)
We'll see you in next week's dev log!
