Night Spasm Resolution Boost + Nintendo Switch Controller Compatability!

Hello, Night Spasm gamers!

In the most recent Night Spasm update, we increased the resolution of the game so that the fullscreen mode will perfectly fit the size of your monitor! Additionally, the resolution of the graphics will scale to your monitor's resolution, allowing Night Spasm to look even more beautiful on any monitor size!

But that's not all! Recently, we've been experimenting with controller compatibility for Night Spasm. Thanks to our new custom Xinput compatibility emulator, we're working on a system to make every style of modern gamepad work with Night Spasm. As of this update, Night Spasm can now be played with the Nintendo Switch Pro controller! Why this controller first? Ladies and gentlemen, we're proud to announce that we are planning to put Night Spasm onto the Nintendo Switch!

Early in the game's development, we wanted to put Night Spasm on at least one console. However, we were having trouble getting a gamepad to work with Night Spasm. But now, thanks to our talented programmers, this issue has been resolved, and we're ready to expand our game onto other platforms, such as Xbox consoles, Play Station consoles, and other PC platforms! In order to expand, we're working on making ALL styles of gamepads compatible with the PC edition. Every player has their preference, and we won't let a single one left behind!

Some other small notes to notice: Yes, the Joycon Grip controller also works with Night Spasm now. However, the single Joycon controller does not. We've also tested many different types of 3rd party Nintendo Switch controllers. As long as a 3rd party controller has Xinput support (wireless or not), it will work (obviously, it must have all the same types of buttons too). We're working very hard to make Xbox and Play Station controllers compatible, including the models from older consoles.

Besides the resolution boost and controller compatibility, we've added many more weapons and items to Night Spasm, all of which were designed and requested by fans! You guys have some really great ideas! Keep them coming! All of these new items can be found through victory chests and from various merchants wandering around Region A1. We can't wait to see what other item concepts you come up with!

How do you like to defeat your enemies in battle? Strength? Strategy? Wit? Obnoxious tactics that are sure to make your opponent rage quit? Well, Night Spasm has many ways to conquer the cruel techniques of Inevit's army. From equipping the best weapons to managing your items, and even mixing up your dialog choices, justice is served in many forms! But then again, who's serving the proper justice? Your motives or your enemies'?

In Night Spasm Version 1.0.7.0, the Strengths and Struggles update, the playing field of both the player and the enemy has been balanced. Whether you're a Night Spasm newbie or an expert in the culture of the Island, you and your enemy must think carefully about the match-ups at play. In this update, leader characters have the ability to bind character-specific abilities to themselves, called "lucubration skills". Every lucubration skill requires a certain type of weapon, like a sword or an axe. With a compatible weapon type, leaders can unleash devastating attacks and commands at cheap UC costs. Furthermore, most of the common enemies you can face have had their defense stats nerfed! But beware, your foes have learned to use their weapons a little better, because your armor's defensive stats have also gone down! In Version 1.0.7.0, your only chance of self-defense comes from how quickly you can kill your foes.

-Added the “lucubration” feature. Thanks to a new ability statue in the base, you can spend prismaryns to unlock core skills for colony members. Every core skill requires a certain weapon type to use. Previously collected items before this update will not provide lucubration skills.

-Added the “quick-cord” feature. If you select an item in your portalpack with coordinates on it, you can now select it to store its coordinates data into a hotkey. Pressing the “E” key will show you the stored coordinates, making it easier to remember where you’re trying to go!

-Added unique animations for every infliction.

-When paying for a victory chest at the base, you can now select how many you want all at once.

-When upgrading the daily victory chest, the daily food chest, and the daily ckoins chest, you can now select how many Jhehms you want to spend for upgrades.

-Most of the food items can no longer be used during battle. The only edible items you can use in battle are drinks, soups, and foods that have a special effect when eaten in battle. This change should make it easier to navigate through utility and healing items in battle.

-Completed puzzle pillars will now have a red glowing light over them.

-Tachytita can now be used when teleporting is disabled.

-Greatly nerfed the EVA and CNT rate of every category of clothing.

-Greatly nerfed the EVA rate of every type of tronder, scorp-ion, reaper servant, and wazafwash.

-The skill “Congo scream” now only has a 15% chance to remove armor instead of 85%.

-Greatly reduced the chance of finding weapons and armor from enemy drops (example: the chance of getting a skulliton thwapper from a skulliton went from 100% to 5%).

-Using the “prepare” skill before battle no longer stuns the user for 1 turn.

-A sound now plays when a character levels up.

-Returning to base now removes death, gives 10 HP, and 11 SP to everyone who returned.

-Fixed a glitch that caused a game over when entering the base as a KO’d colony leader.

-Fixed a glitch that caused the day music to play when inside an enemy base.

-All maximum UC attacks that deal multiple hits now plays the attack animation once per enemy instead of per strike.

New Developers are Joining FanFaction!

Hello everyone, Gideon Moes here with an announcement regarding Night Spasm and other games from FanFaction.

As we previously announced, we're beginning to expand our roster of games, including some 3rd party hosts. As of right now, we're working hard to create the best new and retro experiences around. As part of this "expansion", we're recruiting some new members for the team!

We've been letting all of our potential crewmates help develop Night Spasm. As it is a very simple collection of code, it's easy for newer developers to enhance Night Spasm's gameplay experience. These developers are helping us polish the game as they learn new methods to basic programming, and we're very thankful for their support of this growing game!



As of right now, there are no concrete developers officially on our team. Many developers who we've approached plan to associate with us as their own 3rd party group within our Steam store. However, Steam's partnership system limits a few of our plans, especially financially. Therefore, it's going to be a difficult task making everything work out for each individual associate.

For now, we'll do our best as we observe every potential FanFaction crewmate. Every developer who helped and is helping with Night Spasm's development will be credited after we've made the big decision. As we continue deciding, small updates will come every so often. We also want to improve our Steam Community page with fun polls, information about the game, behind the scenes content, and messages from our developers.

Night Spasm Ver. 1.0.6.3 release

Before we let Night Spasm rest for a few months, here is one last minor update. From this point forward, what already exists in Night Spasm is perfected. Sometime in 2021, more updates will come, including a huge one that's nearly complete! Do note that we will fix any new-found glitches immediately, but nothing else will come from any fix updates. Enjoy the game as it is and have a wonderful adventure!

Ver 1.0.6.3

-Every item now has their own icon! From swords to a simple banana, it’s visually easier to find the item you’re looking for! [Do note that the icons of previously collected equipment will remain the same]

-Added many new foods, ingredients, and defensive equipment (currently all exclusively findable from merchants and victory chests).

-After using a BD-related item, a number will pop up showing your party’s BD. This applies to enemies too. You can turn this feature off in the settings.

-The leader character can no longer change positions; they will always be in the front. Some limited-use characters take this effect for themselves or allow leader-position changing.

-Reduced the volume of the text and menu selection sound by 30%.

-Most food recipes now require a “cooking kit” in order to cook.

-New areas are available to explore in Largenial City!

-Fixed a glitch that caused the wrong music to play when entering an area without active time after exiting from the base.

-Fixed a glitch that would cause the game to crash on older windows systems when entering certain secret rooms.
