Harvest Island 2.0 Announcement
[p]
[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Hi everyone![/p][p]I have big news to share. This announcement is extremely big. As I have been working on developing 2.0 for 5 months now, Harvest Island has undergone a lot of significant changes. It has improved so much that this update is going to change Harvest Island dramatically. It's not a patch to fix issues or a DLC to add content; it's a giant overhaul that fundamentally changes the world, gameplay, and exploration of Harvest Island. There will be new mechanics, added story beats, more lore, polished horror atmosphere, and cohesive farming tied into Harvest Island's story. Everything that you know in 1.0 will significantly change. This update is the big 2.0 update and it's in comparison to a brand new game. And it's all free.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p]
Harvest Island 2026 Roadmap
[p]This is Harvest Island 2026 Roadmap. It centers around the community. Each quarter, Harvest Island will have an update so that players can see the progress, share their feedback, and improve the game's overall quality.[/p][p]
[/p]
Play Harvest Island 2.0
[p]There is a playtest you can play. Join the Discord and ask the community manager for a key. [/p][p]
[/p][p]I'm integrating the community into my game development because I value your input. In 1.0, I released the game with little feedback from the community. This was a grave mistake because it resulted in a clunky version of the game. The game suffered a lot because there was no feedback. This made the game subpar. I've learned that players are extremely valuable in making a really great game. Since the community will be involved at the start of the development, 2.0 will be released at a standard where all gamers can enjoy without the constant clunky frustration and subpar horror/farming expectations.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p]
Harvest Island Release Date
[p]I am pushing the release to 2027 Q1. It's a very tight deadline but doable. This will not take 3.5 years like the original. The story is already done, the art/music is reused. The heavy work is just the programming. I'm still a solo developer working on this game and trying my very best to get this out as quickly as possible.[/p][p][/p]
Fixing All 1.0 Issues
[p]I have read all of the steam reviews and watched your streams. There's a lot of feedback I got and I made sure that all of the issues from 1.0 are fixed in 2.0. This showcases the before and after of 1.0 and 2.0.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
The Big Feature List
[p]1.0 had a lot of issues. Clunky UI, rigid grid movement, and clunky farming just to name a few. 2.0 will fix everything and add a lot of several new mechanics to heighten the horror and farming aspects of the game. [/p][p]
[/p][p]There will be a new moon system which adds to the day/night cycle. This new moon feature will render the game pitch black and significantly limits your vision as you find a light source to explore. So, using a light source to explore the island is a big deal, but be warned, exploring in this darkness does come with unknown dangers that will result in death. There will also be a trust system between you and your dad as you play the game. Dad now has a bigger part to play in Harvest Island compared to 1.0. Another big feature I'm adding is the Harvest Time Dial which is pretty much a device that allows you to speed up time. So, instead of waiting for crops to grow, or waiting for fish to spawn or waiting for the tides to go out, the time dial can speed up the game and shorten the wait time significantly. These are just a few mechanics that will be in 2.0.[/p][p]Here is the list of features that will be in 2.0. The list is long.[/p][p]![]()

[/p]
Developer's Final Thoughts
[p]During the past months of working on Harvest Island, I thought that 2.0 wasn’t going to do well. I thought that no one wanted to play a remake of a game that they’ve already beaten. And that this game wouldn’t drive much attention because it’s an old game. [/p][p]
[/p][p]Honestly, I truly didn’t know why I was making my own game again, and to give it away as a free update too. But a fan had told me that my game inspired him. That's when I realized that my game had the power to inspire people and that is a powerful influence to have. It gave me a second motivation.[/p][p]Even though my game has its flaws and its imperfect execution, it’s worth it to spend an entire year working on it because I’m creating the next generation of talent. That's my reason and motivation to continue on developing and finish this massive 2.0 update.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]
