War Elephants and Tigers are coming to Three Kingdoms in new expansion focusing on southern China

We spoke last month about how there was a new wave of DLC and content coming for the Total War series - one of which was the first official 'expansion' for Three Kingdoms itself. That new expansion has now been revealed as The Furious Wild, and it's due out on September 3rd, 2020.

It expands the main game's map into the dense jungles of Southern China, and adds in a new culture group - the Nanmen - comprising four new factions. The unit roster is being expanded by over 25 new units, including formidable animal units such as Elephants and Tigers. There will also be a new tech-tree, faction mechanics and story events.

While the new content is targeting the base vanilla game, everything in The Furious Wild will be playable in the other start dates as well introduced in the previous Chapter Packs Mandate of Heaven & A World Betrayed.

Here is the official trailer:

Alongside this expansion, there will also be a free title update that will introduce a new Han warlord, 'Gate' battles, a new artillery unit and plenty of other quality of life tweaks and balances.
