Version #30 - Resuming Updates

Hey Everyone,

After quite a bit of a delay we are back to regularly updating PKW, all the way until the game is expected to be complete and ready for release later this Fall. You can expect weekly or bi-weekly updates from now on. Once again apologies for the delay.

Today`s update includes some major new features and improvements with various areas of the game, lets take a look at everything this updates brings.

New Features
  • Chancellor Window interface reworked with various improvements
  • Chancellor window now shows diplomatic relations with each nation right on the nations portrait, instead of forcing player to click on each nation
  • Chancellor window now shows relations value with each nations, with colour code with on the nations portrait
  • Towns that have infected citizens with them now represent this on the world map with various visual effects, like smoke coming of the infected towns
  • Towns that are under quarantine now display a locked down symbol on the world map banner (only shows after world map is reloaded for now)
  • Added happiness icon to player towns. Towns with low happiness don`t produce new citizens
  • Added "+" indicator on player town population icon if population is growing/going to grow if population is happy


Fixes & Improvements
  • Improved handling for rapid selection of armies on the world map
  • Fixed issue with CivPop not showing on city banners
  • Fixed issue with loading screen tips on large GUI setting
  • When player receives resources it`s now shown as a round value, without decimal points
  • Fixed a bug with training window opening up when healing/removing units
  • General performance improvements
  • Fixed various issues with town banners on the world map
  • Fixed various issues when playing for St. John faction, like King player being unable to become King
  • Some performance improvements for checking faction removal, that helps speeds up end of the month lag

Resuming Updates & Sale Event

Hey Everyone,

We have to start with an apology for the delay with the updates. Due to some unfortunate events I had to take over a month away from work, but I`m better and back to it now and have resumed work on the upcoming 30th anniversary update, to be released later this month.

We also hope to finally wrap up the undead DLC in the near future, will be posting some previews later this month as well.

My priority for the rest of the summer is try to complete as much of remaining content as possible, to have all the Kingdoms playable and balanced and for all the remaining features to be complete, so we can enter a beta phase this fall.

Meanwhile we are starting the big 2 week sale event, with the biggest discount we had on Kingdom War: Plague so far. This should help attract some new players just in time for the new updates to start rolling in.

Version #29 - Alpha Milestone

Hey Everyone,

We have a major milestone to celebrate today as Kingdom Wars: Plague finally enters Alpha milestone with today`s major update.

Thanks to everyone who joined us during the very early days of Early Access. I know the game had multiple issues and it wasn`t easy to play. I`m glad to say that with today`s milestone we finally have a very playable build with majority of features in, most critical bugs fixed, and various performance improvements bringing it to enjoyable level.

Please keep in mind - that we also synced update number with the game version - to make it easier to track, so it`s the same in this news story and inside the game. Current version being 0.29

Moving forward we have two more updates to wrap up last of the polish and features - that we expect complete later this month. With that done - we have good news for everyone awaiting Dead Rising DLC and Tutorial - as beginning later this month, we are switching all resources to completing these two projects with May release for both Undead Rising DLC and the Tutorial Campaign.

Now lets take a look at today`s massive update 0.29.

New Features
  • World Map is now mostly lag free in all instances
  • Once again reworked how AI attacks on the world map
  • AI will avoid looted and quarantined towns
  • Fixed all issues with AI attacking on the world map
  • Banish infected reduces happiness to -100
  • Population only increases in towns with happy population
  • New option in the Options Menu for Large Scaled Text & GUI
  • Towns only show Plague related actions if town population is infected
  • Greately reduced end of the month lag
  • Animals no longer require free citizens to build


Fixed & Improvements
  • Fixed Poland being unplayable
  • Fixed AI armies standing forever and not attacking
  • Fixed gap in the Chancellor country list
  • Personal Time clock now shows Hours
  • Ottoman Kings town of Skoutarion corrected to be large town
  • Corrected tooltips and help section
  • Corrected army not adjusting speed with research or when switching from army to ship
  • Fixed some stone walls not building correctly on the world map
  • Removing unused Cut Trade, Burn Corpses and Cull Animals buttons
  • Wrongly Quarantined towns without infected will end quarantine themselves
  • Fixed game breaking sometimes when AI armies attack your towns
  • Fixed very long pause after auto-resolve

Update #11 - Major World Map Updates

Hey Everyone,

We are happy to present a major update that greately improves KWP experienced on the world map. We have seen a lot of comments on how slow the gameplay can be at times, and about various performance and unit control issues on the world map. With today`s update we set out to fix all these issues once and for all.

To start things of we changed the flow of time on the world map - months go by a lot faster now, armies move faster, and overall there`s a lot more urgency, and occasional need to slow the game speed down.

We also worked on the technical aspects of world map time change. The world map speed can be greatly increased or slowed down now, as before values mostly effected performance, but not actual gameplay. Now on 2x or 0.25x the game will play and feel very differently. We also looked into fixing majority of performance issues when increasing the gameplay speed. In addition we also fixed all the UI slowdowns when decreasing the game speed.

We also reworked the flow of the plague events - with the whole story arc, events, spread and receding of the plague taking longer and not overwhelming players as much.

We`ll continue with another update in early April. Thanks for continuous support - and we can`t wait, to get the last of the gameplay issues and polish out of the way so that we can focus on the Tutorial campaign and undead.


Major Fixes and Additions
  • Eliminated majority of world map lag on higher game speed
  • Fixed issues with slow responding UI on lower game speed
  • World Map months are now much shorter
  • World map month duration now properly scales on faster or slower game speed
  • Fixed issues with scrolling around the world map on different game speeds
  • Fixed issues with jumping camera when scrolling world map on slower game speeds
  • World Map gameplay speed greatly increased on 2x speed
  • World Map gameplay speed is now much slower on lowest 0.25 game speed
  • Changing game speed no longer changes animation of the game world or clouds
  • Moving world map decor units like birds, ships now effect their speed based on the world map speed
  • Armies move much slower or faster depending on the world map speed
  • Campaign plague news events are a lot more spaced now now
  • Plague spreads significantly slower on the world map
  • It now takes few more years for the plague to recede and end

Update # 10 - Improved World Map AI

Hey Everyone,

We have an important update today - the finally completes the workload are reworking the world map AI - fixing a large number of issues and finally making game a challenge, with world map AI properly sending out attacks. This has been a major issue since the start of early access, and we are glad to finally have this working well.

We will continue with a major update next week fixing vast number of issues including last world map lag, as well as issues and lag on higher game speeds.

World Map AI Updates
  • AI will now properly attack player with a number of armies
  • Fixed various issues where player could avoid all the AI attacks by entering towns often
  • Fixed major issues where world map AI will not attack at all
  • A lot of balancing work on world map attack AI - attacking realistically without being too op
  • Greatly increased campaign difficulty - mainly due to AI attacks
  • Fixed various elements of world map attack AI
  • Fixed issue in the last update that showed a big grey field in the top right corner
