Spark in the Dark / New Demo

Hello everyone!

Since the last update, we've made various improvements and innovations in Spark in the Dark.
Most of the work is being done on the deep levels of Dargroth, but it's time to share our development progress with you, so we're pleased to present the Spark in the Dark (0.015) update.

[h3]Monster Improvements[/h3]
We've enhanced the behavior and abilities of nearly all monsters. Now, battles with them are more dynamic.
For example, Nisses and spiders can jump, and Morroch can make a powerful attack that closes the distance to the hero.
The creatures' intelligence and the accuracy of their attacks have also been improved.



You can now encounter bats in some areas of the Dungeon.
This involves a Will check for the hero, and if the hero fails, he will be affected by Fright.



[h3]Ancient Armor Updated[/h3]
Their variety has increased, and they are now better designed.



  • Added durability display for damageable items.
  • Now all hero classes can repair equipment, not just the Blacksmith as before.
  • All shields (except solid-metal ones) can now be irreparably destroyed in battle when their durability drops to 0.


[h3]New Blacksmith Skill - "Armor Improvement"[/h3]
To use this skill, you need to find elements like Steel, Chainmail Fragments, Leather, and Fabric.
Using these elements, you can enhance existing reinforcements on armor and add new ones.

Initially, the Blacksmith has knowledge of only a few enhancements like "Movable Plates" which are related to heavy and medium armor. However, during the game, he can find other enhancement schemes.

[h3]Interactions[/h3]
  • Some doors may be jammed and will require a crowbar to open.
  • You can find oilers in the Dungeon – they help open complex locks and jammed doors using the crowbar.
  • The success of using the crowbar now takes into account the hero's Strength.


Stuck items (for example, an axe in the wall) require a Strength check to pull them out.



Some locations have been updated, graphics improved, and some materials updated.
New interior elements have been added.



Gamepad Support Improvement:
  • Gamepad support from the main game menu.
  • Added vibrations when taking damage.
  • Interface button/action designation depending on the type of device.
  • Added lighting on Sony gamepads in the color of the lantern and the campfire at the rest point.


ALSO:
  • New and updated books, notes, and wall plaque texts for better lore alignment.
  • New hero lines for various events and situations.
    A subsystem for hero's curses has been added. Each class has its set of strong words, as well as common ones.
  • Added new sounds and improved some existing ones.
  • Bell activation.
  • Improved item generation in containers.
  • Improved monster generation on hard difficulty.
    No more blood spiders in the first room :) The population of creatures increases proportionally to the original Dungeon design.
  • The hero removes heavy armor elements at the campfire (plate gloves, pauldrons).
  • Updated some parts of the UI.
  • Added 4 new achievements.


A number of smaller improvements and fixes have also been made, based on your feedback.

Patch for the demo (0.014.1)

Hello, everyone!

We've just released a patch that includes various minor improvements, fixes, and adjustments.

It includes:
  • Updated the hero's phrases during combat.
  • Replaced the static image with icons representing dungeon types (difficulty levels) in the Best Heroes section.
  • Small spiders do not burst when there are issues with the hero if the hero stands still without moving.


We are now focusing on developing deeper tiers of the Dungeon.

Spark in the Dark / New Demo

Hello everyone!

Since our last update, we've made various improvements to the Dargroth dungeon.
We want to share our development progress with you, so we're glad to introduce the Spark in the Dark update (0.014).

[h3]Hero's Name[/h3]
We've added a name for the hero, which is set at the start of the game. The name is used in-game and also displayed in the history of the best heroes.
Updated the character selection and dungeon difficulty level screen.



Based on the outcomes of their adventure, a hero can receive a title, such as Master of Secret Paths or Monster Slayer.

Updated and expanded the passage history in the list of the best heroes.

Added a description of skills in the character window.

[h3]Combat Improvements[/h3]
We've added side dodges for the hero and updated the back jump.

Introduced the ability "Counter attack" for the Warrior class. They can deliver a powerful blow after receiving an attack in block.



Improved shield combat and block. Added new hero reactions when receiving a strong attack in block.

Combat sounds have been refined and updated.

[h3]Crossbow Enhancements[/h3]
Added a quiver. Now you can see how many arrows you have left in your inventory.

  • Hunters and thieves can find the skill book "Shadow Shooter" which grants the skill to shoot with lethal efficiency from a concealed state.
  • Improved crossbow firing. Broadened the firing angle for hitting enemies above and below.
  • Updated inventory arrow images.

[h3]Creature Population[/h3]
Now in the dungeon, you can encounter little spiders. They dwell in places where spider eggs are laid. A spider can be easily crushed, but sometimes they are poisonous.

Improved centipede generation. Now they can appear in many different places.
Spiders and centipedes can also be found in crevices.

Sometimes you can encounter powerful Undeads – they are bulkier than usual and possess greater strength. Their number depends on the difficulty level of the game.

  • Some locations and environmental objects have been updated.
  • Improved activation of the Astral Collider and the statue of the Ancient Warrior.
  • Added hero's lines in some locations.
Technical improvements:
  • Most localizations have been updated and supplemented.
  • Added another level of camera zoom.
  • Added an option "Disable chromatic aberration" in the game settings.
  • Minor improvements in gamepad support. The interface now displays correct button names depending on the device.

Alongside these, many more minor improvements and fixes have been made, including based on your feedback.

Halloween update

Hello everyone!

To mark our participation in the Steam Scream: The Revenge festival we are happy to share the new update with you. It includes various fixes & minor improvements which we made for the past month.

  • Added new set of weapon inspired by nodachi and katana (two-hand sword, one-hand sword, dagger)
  • Sometimes you can find scolopendra in the holes.
  • Updated Spanish & some other languages.
Added the "Halloween Horrors" mode, which will be available during the festival Steam Scream (October 26 - November 2).

* The "Grim Tales" series of stories will be added to the game this coming weekend.

Patch for the demo (0.013.2)

Hello, everyone!

We've just released a small yet crucial patch that addresses an issue with in-game interactions that occurred after extended gameplay.
It was a stubborn bug that we've been working hard to resolve, and we appreciate your patience!
