Fata Deum Demo Available!

Yes, that is correct! Everyone can now access a Fata Deum demo for a limited time period starting today!
Go, check it out!

The demo allows you to access all currently available features, but the demo is limited to play only through the first five in-game days!

Afterwards you can provide us some feedback if you like! That would be great!

Prayer System

The demo includes the new prayer system, which lets you interact more directly with your mortals!

And a new Alpha build, including the prayer system, has been released for our Alpha backers, too.

Will you listen to their endless begging? Sometimes you need to, as fulfilled prayers are necessary to level up! But you can choose which ones you like to fulfill of course!

In addition, by accepting or declining prayers you are manipulating the behavior of your mortals, telling them which behavior / prayer you would like to see next time!





During the night the mortals express their demands while dreaming, asking you to fulfill some long-term goals, like building a building, gain more followers or let them attack a neighbor, …

At daytime they ask you to support these long-term goals by making some wonders! Or just for entertainment like burning down a tavern or strike a lightning on the unpopular neighbor (which does not believe in you, nice coincidence!).

Performance Improvements

Character rendering and general performance have been improved significantly. Depending on the system, the overall performance is improved up to 50%! This was a time-intensive step, but worth it 😊

New Main Menu

The main menu graphics have been improved significantly. Take a look!



Gamescom

Fata Deum is part of the Gamescom 2021! Starting already today until the end of Gamescom the Fata Deum demo will be available. It would be great if you can check it out soon and provide us some feedback!

Further Development

While we are happy with the results of the last month, we are not so happy with our progress. Our list of cool features we would like to add before the EA release is still not empty (but getting smaller step by step).

Therefore, we decided to move the release to Q1 2022.

We know that our community prefers a well-done EA game, and that needs time 😊

We feel sorry for keeping you waiting, but to shorten your waiting time, we have provided an accessible demo for the (digital) Gamescom end of August!

And you can start playing Fata Deum already today!

New Alpha Release: Characters, UI and Ancient Relics


After a longer development we are very happy to deliver a huge set of new features! New Characters, new UI, ancient relics and many more!

We are very happy with the progress, but to get this game great (for Early Access) we need to move the release date to Q3 2021 (more details under section Further Development of this update). Quality first!

[h2]Characters[/h2]

All new character models are included in the current Alpha build (mortals, demons and zombies!)
The city is now full of life with our new high-quality models!



They are very customizable, so that each individual can look different, but you can also see the visual similarities of (distant or close) relatives.



In addition, many different jobs are represented by different clothes: bakers, blacksmiths, builders, lumberjacks, miners, priests, and many more!



Furthermore, all mortals do now also react on the Imp, which is representing you in the world of Fata Deum!



Look at the guy in the dark red clothes! This guy does not believe in you, but in the god Violence!

Traitor!

As you can see on the screenshots, we also further improved the graphics by mainly working on the post processing!

[h2]UI[/h2]

The old (very simple prototypical UI) has been replaced by a total new UI! In the following picture you can see its main parts:
  • Lower right corner: the main player UI providing information about mana, yin and yang power (special kind of mana you get by doing bad or good stuff) and your current attitude.
  • Upper left corner: the player god with current level progress (experience) and follower count and the opponent god (Violence in this case).
  • Upper right corner: current day and day / night time (many Alpha backers have asked for this one).
    Icons on the left side: occurring events (bad wonder executed by opponent, fight ongoing)
  • Bottom center: some general statements
  • On screen: tooltip for currently selected item (university).


By selecting on a building or a mortal a detailed UI is popping up, providing you all necessary information and options.



In addition, the selected item is surrounded by an effect which colors indicated in which god (or gods) the mortals belief in.
If you want to execute a wonder, a detailed tooltip is provided.



[h2]Ancient Relics[/h2]
Besides many smaller improvements on the gameplay we have added one bigger new feature: If you are running low on mana during the day (especially in the early game) you can now check the landscape for hidden ancient relics and convert them to gain an extra mana boost!



[h2]Further Development[/h2]
We are very happy with the current progress, but we will definitely not be able to release the game in April. We believe that some additional months will be very good for the game and the community in terms of quality and fun!

Looking at the necessary steps to achieve the wanted level of quality and quantity we decided to only provide a rough estimation of the upcoming release date and move it to somewhere in Q3 2021.
If we come closer to the third quarter, we will provide an update on this deadline, of course.

During the last weeks we received very positive feedback from our backers regarding the question β€œShall we take more time for the sake of quality?” and thereby we look very confident into the future!

Our next steps will be to improve out tutorials for the game and provide a public demo.
Afterwards we would like to add a second level and improve the AI!
