Against the Storm Selected for Tiny Teams 2025 Festival

[h3]Greetings, Viceroys![/h3][p]We’re happy to share that we’ve been selected as a Tiny Champion for Yogscast Games' Tiny Teams Festival. It’s an annual event that showcases video games made by small teams from around the world.[/p][p]

Hotfix 1.8.10 (Riverlands spawn, Smoldering City upgrades costs)

  • [p]Prevented the Riverlands modifier from spawning next to Forbidden Lands, Dangerous Lands, Untamed Lands, and Ruins modifiers.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a rare issue where villager slots in houses could lock up after villagers were killed and incorrectly removed from a house.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that caused the worker selection radial menu to remain on screen after a ruin was rebuilt.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where some Smoldering City upgrades had incorrect costs.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the Rainpunk Drill event was listed three times in the in-game encyclopedia.[/p]

Hotfix 1.8.9 (Fluffbeak UI freeze, Unassign woodcutters with Shredder)

[h3]Greetings, Viceroys![/h3][p]We released another small batch of fixes and improvements. We're extremely grateful for all your reports, especially for your patience and support as we were trying to reproduce the rare Fluffbeak freeze. Thank you![/p][p][/p][h3]Changelog:[/h3]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the Fluffbeak UI could freeze when clicking on the new "Clean" alert while the radial of one of the Poro’s needs was open, and the values of goods increased after a new fertilizer was produced.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that caused the "Unassign Woodcutters" button to stop working when reassigning workers to camps with a Rainpunk Shredder.[/p]
    • [p]This fix will take effect starting with your next settlement.[/p]
  • [p]Shortened the "villager saved" alert in the Escaping the Shadows effect.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where the Black Market popup wouldn't disappear when moving the building.[/p]

Patch 1.8.7 (Tree-cutting time, Fluffbeak alert)

[h3]Greetings, Viceroys![/h3][p]We prepared another batch of improvements in response to your feedback. It includes an alert for when Fluffbeak’s enclosure is full and a reduced tree-cutting time.[/p][p][/p][h3]Balance and UX:[/h3]
  • [p]Added an alert for the Fluffbeak.[/p]
    • [p]Ten seconds after 3 Fertilizer accumulates in the Fluffbeak's enclosure, an alert will appear on the HUD.[/p]
    • [p]Clicking the alert will automatically collect the Fertilizer.[/p]
    • [p]After reaching 3 Fertilizer, the progress bar for the next piece will continue to fill, but only up to 99% on the fourth piece.[/p]
  • [p]Reduced the time to cut down a tree from 9 to 7 seconds.[/p]
  • [p]Reduced the time to plow a field in the Forester's Hut from 20 to 10 seconds.[/p]
  • [p]Changed the reward for the Trading Master timed order from Deep Pockets to the Value Added Tax cornerstone.[/p]
  • [p]Updated the progress preview on the Steel Focus cornerstone. It now only displays the acquired bonus, without the 0/1 counter.[/p]
  • [p]The Chest Chaser order can no longer appear in games with the Riverlands modifier.[/p]

  • [p]Fixed an issue where some need satisfaction orders would not start their countdown after the objective was met.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that prevented the cornerstone popup from appearing in Silent Dominion games if a wildcard perk was offered.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the Black Amber Pact effect triggered after reaching year 5 instead of year 6.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that prevented the Fluffbeak's resource requirements from increasing while its UI was open.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue that allowed Foxes to gain a double comfort bonus when first assigned as builders to a 3-slot building.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a rounding error that displayed 99% progress as 100% in the Fluffbeak UI.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where the Twitch overlay could overlap the order tracking panel.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the Blightfighter condition could appear in the Cornerstone Forge in games without Blightrot.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that prevented sacrifice from being re-enabled at the Ancient Hearth after removing the Baptism of Fire cornerstone in Silent Dominion games.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the Steel Focus cornerstone could show a -1 progress count and fail to remove its bonus when a worker was unassigned.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that caused some maps to include inaccessible tiles.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a display error when tracking the Green Thumb deed, which showed an incorrect counter.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where Blightrot Cysts could appear in the wrong places on the Butcher building.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue that allowed Fertile Fields to be built on top of ore veins.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that allowed Treasure Stags to spawn in games with the Riverlands modifier.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the Fox specialization tag was obstructed by other UI elements in the Warehouse panel.[/p]

[p]The current game version is 1.8.7.[/p][p][/p][p]When it comes to the woodcutting time, we originally increased it from 6 to 9 seconds, due to the villagers’ behavior refactor introduced in one of the updates a couple of months back. As a result of the refactor, villagers started reacting faster, wasting less time, and picking better paths. In most situations, this didn't influence the output in any noticeable way. However, woodcutting is so quick that the optimization of villagers' "brains" overhead was so significant that it resulted in a notable production boost. As a result, we decided to increase the woodcutting time to balance it out.[/p][p]However, we heard your feedback regarding this change and decided to reduce the woodcutting time to 7 seconds.[/p][p]This may not be that noticeable of a change, though, as villagers spend most of the time walking and transporting goods, rather than on woodcutting itself. Nevertheless, the net time of the entire woodcutting process is now more similar to version 1.7 and is still much shorter than it was a few updates ago. Against The Storm gets huge discount as free content update and DLC arrive

Against The Storm is one of those must-play strategy games that's been sitting on my wishlist for some time. If I wasn't already a sucker for dark fantasy worlds, the fact that it asks you to balance leading the survivors of an apocalypse and managing several different fantasy settlements would be enough to hook me in. Now, with the launch of its new free content update and DLC, there really couldn't be a better time to pick it up. And in even better news, the base game is currently an absolute steal at 50% off.
