Oniria Crimes' Demo "Dreams can be Deadly"

In cKolmos we started in 1998 and almost without knowing it, with the (self) publication of the novel "La Tasca Gris" a project that ten years later became transmedia and that leads to the publication of the video game "Oniria Crimes" this year 2020, and of which we now present its demo.

Nuestro juego es una aventura de investigación en un mundo distópico, con tintes noir y estética vóxel que tiene lugar en un mundo onírico, al que el ser humano ha conseguido acceder a través del método "De la Llave”. Oniria Crimesl is full of characters with great personality and a very sharp sense of humor.

This demo offers the first of the cases in the game, in which the detectives Santos and Torres of the Rounders have just met and must investigate a murder. In this world of dreams, in which not everything is what it seems, they must interrogate the objects in each room, that have a voice and opinions of their own. The observation, the resolution of complex puzzles, and the attention to detail are part of this first approach to a world with a very broad and exciting lore. The duration of the demo will depend mainly on how you approach it, it should take at least an hour.

In the game, which will be launched on October the 28th, you will find six cases in which your analysis skills, time spent, puzzle solving and way of playing will lead you to discover everything that hides the world and the characters of our particular oneiric universe.

If you want to be updated with the news and the lore of Oniria Crimes, please add it to your wishlisht and don't forget to visit the meeting point.

Discovering Oniria Crimes Lore Vol.2

Before the invention of "De la Llave Method”, achieving a lucid dream was quite complicated, but it was more challenging to have them at their own will. Few humans could visit the Land of Dreams, and even fewer could "stay" there... but there were enough of them to create the first oneiric city: The Palace of Desires.
The Pioneers
These early dream travelers, the true oneironauts, were considered an elite because they learned everything they knew from their own experience. The new generations, who used the "De la Llave Method”, called them the "Pioneers."

The popularization of the "De la Llave Method” caused a massive arrival of dreamers to the Land of Dreams that became known as the "Great Wave." It provoked the massification of dreams, creating problems from the oneiric society.
The Guilds of Oniria
What at first was a "selected club of oneironauts" had become a henhouse. The Palace of Desires ceased to be a monument for meetings and became the central symbol of a great city that appeared as if from nowhere, with thousands of stands, houses, vehicles... and problems. To coordinate all the dreamers, some of the Pioneers founded the Guilds of Oniria: groups of oneironauts with common objectives. The Triple Star, the largest of these guilds, and its Leader, Tiberius, govern the Palace of Desires with an iron fist until today.
The Palace of Desires
People had turned Oniria's heart into something like an MMO. The city, by extension, was also called the Palace of Desires, so if someone said that name, it was necessary to specify whether they meant the monument or the city.

It was a chaotic city without any foresight or urban design. Every night it could look one way or another, depending on the dreamers who came to it. It was not uncommon to see an old castle fade away and become a neighborhood of colorful houses in a matter of seconds, or the traffic on the street stop being horse-drawn carriages and become cars. The city lost its immensity on the horizon to wherever you looked.
The Grand Oniria Stadium
However, there were permanent or quasi-permanent places. Places erected by oneironauts with the use of sand. Among them, one of the most popular was the Grand Oniria Stadium.
The Grand Oniria Stadium is a gigantic sports palace where the most popular dream sports were played and competed, such as telekinetic basketball.
Say that many dreamers entered Oniria only to play that sport was an understatement. Players became professional, and they have created high-performance centers in Awakeland where their sleeping bodies could be attended while they trained in Oniria.
When humans meet Kabus
The veteran oneironauts rarely passed through the Palace of Desires and preferred to dedicate themselves to exploring and getting to know other regions of Oniria, which seemed never to end. However, nobody approached the Scorched Forest. A horrible place where most of the Kabus had retreated to: these are the natural inhabitants of Oniria, popularly known as "nightmares."
Humans and Kabus are still getting to know each other, but most oneironauts are unaware that not all Kabus are nightmares to be feared. Kabus are seen as enemies, human ignorance was once again at work, and very few voices were raised to defend the original inhabitants of the Land of Dreams...

Discovering Oniria Crimes Lore Vol.1

The collapse of an old world

Year 2060. The melting of the ice has caused the sea level to rise and the main cities of the world are under water: New York, Buenos Aires, London, Rome, Barcelona, Cairo, Beijing, Tokyo, Sydney... are nothing but rusty reminiscences alongside the fish.

Although it has not been possible to avoid this catastrophe, a technology that influences the climate has been developed and has managed to paralyze the climate chain reaction by regulating the level of CO2 in the atmosphere.

The survivors

The survivors of the disaster form a global mass of refugees while the cities on high ground have become fortresses where a semblance of normality is experienced. Refugees live in camps on the other side of city walls, or in formerly abandoned villages. Strategic points like mines and nuclear power stations are exploited by private companies or protected by the army.

In the cities, the political system is a semblance of democracy, but all information is filtered by the authorized media. Global communication infrastructures have been lost, and the planet has suffered a recession. The Internet is an urban network for the wealthy classes. Communication with the outside world is controlled. Old religions have gained strength but new sects and heresies related to non-polluting forms of life have emerged.

In the midst of despair, hope appears. Eloy de la Llave, anthropologist, and psychologist specialized in lucid dreams, discovers, and perfects a method that allows communication through sleep.

A new way of communication

After the fall of the global communication networks, the method becomes popular by opening a new way of communication among dreamers, who can control what they dream and create an oneiric noosphere where they can live a second life. Two realities are generated: Oniria and Awakeland.

Most people who use the De La Llave method are refugees. Some of them have achieved a prosperous life in Oniria in exchange for spending most of their time sleeping. Only a few manage to do business in both realities.

The currency of payment in Oniria is the aerena, "the stuff that dreams are made of". Each person generates it naturally while sleeping, but it can be donated, spent, earned, and stolen. In addition, the rhythm at which it is generated is different in each person. It is possible to "drain" the dreamers: there are mafias in Awakeland that maintain farms of sleeping people to steal it and resell it on the black market. In this new world, dreams can be deadly…
