SAMURAI SHODOWN ROLLBACK MAJOR UPDATE

Hey Samsho fans!
We're excited about Samurai Shodown's latest major patch because it contains some improvements that we feel will make a big impact with the community.

First, the long-awaited intro skip has been implemented! Gone are the days where you have to sit through the character's lengthy (but interesting!) intros before starting the fight. A simple button press can now skip all that so you can get right to the action!

Next, Samurai Shodown now features a decoupling technique which makes lower performing PCs play better online! The game's logic and framerate have been "decoupled" meaning they are not essentially tied together. What that means is that in the case where there are FPS drops, the game's logic (ie: button response times) are processed normally without also being dragged down. The added benefit of this technology is it greatly reduces the lag between two players playing on hardware with a big difference in specs.

Finally, this update features multiple fixes and improvements:

* Fixed Amakusa's orb disappearing during jumping attacks
* Fixed VFX error with Mina's arrow trail incorrectly drawing during online play
* Fixed Kazuki's missing fire VFX when disarmed by weapon flipping technique
* Fixed Kazuki's weapon VFX snapping from previous position to current location after weapon disarm.
* Fixed game soft locking if players repeatedly pressing round restart button during online training
* Fixed VFXs incorrectly ending early during online matches
* Reduces performance spikes on rollback
* Fixed problem of spectators causing deadlocks with Shizumaru charging his down pour attack between rounds

SAMURAI SHODOWN ROLLBACK UPDATE

Hey SAMSHO fans,
The time has finally arrived! SAMURAI SHODOWN on Steam now officially has rollback netcode!
A huge thanks to all the players who participated during the beta tests that helped bring the game into tip-top shape.

As this is an update to the base game, kindly leave the beta branch and the game will update to the latest base version.
Additionally, if you encounter any bugs, please report them in the Technical Forums.

Thank you again for your continued support!

SAMURAI SHODOWN Beta 3 Rollback Patch ID 12726133 is live!

Technical details:
  • Updated to latest EOS SDK 1.16.1
  • More debug network information displayed:
    Example: net=5a QREP 18ms sq 4 pq in:out=0100:0000
-"QREP" is estimated ping, and "sq" is the GGPO send queue
-"pq" is low-level packet queue send/receive lengths

*Note:
If you get stalls, it will probably stop updating, and then come back with a large value (say, 1000, meaning a second).
If you see "LIMIT STALL" it means your player has gotten 20 frames ahead of the other and is suspending input.

There have been reports of lengthly hangs during combat, so we ask users to kindly record/take any images they can during these moments.

Additionally, it seems the game's FPS can drop when rematching with the same opponent for a lengthly amount of time (30min+) without returning to the lobby. If you experience any drop in FPS, kindly make a note if the debug line mentioned above starts to behave unusally.

For any discovered bugs, feel free to report your findings here:

Please do be concise and accurate with any reports, as it makes it easier for us to test and replicate them!

Thank you!
HOW TO JOIN THE BETA
In order to join the beta, right-click on SAMURAI SHODOWN’s properties inside Steam, select the Betas tab and then select "Rollback Beta 3" from the drop-down menu. That will prompt an update on Steam with the early beta version of SAMURAI SHODOWN with updated rollback netcode.

This beta version can only match players against other Beta version users, but you can opt out at any time by selecting "NONE" under the Betas tab. We hope you enjoy and look forward to your feedback!

*For those who have already accessed the beta through the public branch (this one slipped past us!) and have yet to join the beta branch officially, then please do so as the update you will be prompted for will be for the official, non-rollback version.
