• The stats side-panel stone and the Skill icons will glow, indicating that you've got some level-up unlocks to view.

Other Changes
  • We've temporarily turned off Worlds 329 to 338 so we can upgrade them ahead of Leagues VI launch.
  • You’ll no longer run into issues moving between rooms in your Player-Owned House if it’s decorated with the Wilderness theme from the Deadman: Annihilation rewards.
  • Resolved an issue where some players were unable to use Prayers in the Permanent Deadman World after transferring their account.

Cow Boss Tweaks

Cow killers, herd this call! And brace yourself for the mandatory cow puns...

Since the launch of the Cow Boss, we’ve seen the community absolutely milking every moment of it. It’s been amoosing to watch so many of you unleash your inner Cow Killer, grinding for Beef, flexing those Cow Slippers, and tackling udderly bold challenges like facing Demonic Brutus in full cow attire. Whether you’re a fresh-faced adventurer learning the ropes of PvM or a seasoned ’Scaper chasing that high-steaks thrill, this past week has been legen-dairy to say the least.

Some talented players have even created udderly cute fanart referencing this launch!

Prezleek just thinks Beef is neat, and we agree. Tavini1 has also added Beef to what they've been cooking. Plus, "What a Lumbridge dairy cow sees" by Scimister.

Now that the launch week is behind us and we're mooving onto the second week, we’ve got some initial fixes and tweaks on the way:
  • You can now store all four colour variants of the Cow Slippers as well as the Brutus Slippers in the Magic Wardrobe of your Player-Owned House.
  • Adjusted Bottomless Milk Bucket's high alch value from 27,000 to 9,000 GP to better align with its rarity.
  • Removed Demonic Brutus's immunity to Thralls from the Arceuus Spellbook.
  • Adjusted Brutus’s soft anti-safespot mechanics so that he now uses his stomp special attack if he’s safespotted while the player is only one tile away.
  • Random events will no longer spawn during Demonic Brutus fights.
  • Added a "Yes and don't ask again" option when releasing Brutus from its pen.
  • Corrected several typos in Gillie Groats’ dialogue and in the examine text for the second milk sample during the The Ides of Milk quest.

We'll be keeping an eye on your feedback as we moove forward, but that's a wrap for this week.

Skill Guide and Level-Up Rework

Changing how level-up messages are displayed in Old School RuneScape has long been a player request. On top of that, wouldn't it be nicer if you could see whether or not you meet a specific requirement when you check the Skill Guide?

Today, we're bringing you the Skill Guide and Level-Up Rework proposal from our Game Jam VII blog. Let's take a look at what has improved!
Level-Up Messages
Picture this: you’ve just levelled up and received the pop-up letting you know you’ve advanced a Skill level. But before you can click “Continue,” you’re interrupted - maybe you misclick, or maybe you’re attacked - and the pop-up disappears. Just like that, you’ve missed the list of newly unlocked features. Sure, you can open the Skill Guide and scroll through each section to find the information manually, but it would be much nicer not to lose that moment in the first place. This change is especially helpful for newer players, who stand to benefit the most from seeing exactly what they’ve just unlocked.

Now, when you advance a level in a skill, the game will invite you to open the skill guide via a chatbox message, so you can see what you've unlocked. Better yet, you can do that at your convenience!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Upon opening the Skill Guide, you'll find a list of all the features requiring a particular Skill level, regardless of which section they're in. The new version of level-up messages works in the legacy skin of the skill guide menu too, for those who've kept the old parchment style. Below is an example for what you can see for achieving Level 62, in both the new and old parchment style:

Moreover, the stats side-panel stone and the Skill icons will glow, indicating that you've got some level-up unlocks to view.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

We know that, particularly when you're on a new account, you often rack up the level-ups in quick succession and so all those chat messages might become a bit too much. So the clickable messages will have a 'Clear all' option that clears them all. This wipes your pending level-up notifications in all the skills - no more glowing icons or side-panel stone - and when the skill guide is next opened, it will just show its regular contents as usual.

If the glowing icons and flashing stones are still a bit much for you, that's fine - there's a toggle for that. The "Level-up guide list" option lets you control whether the game will invite you to check the in-game Skill Guides after you've leveled up.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

While the standard level-up pop-ups are replaced with the improvements mentioned above, we're keeping the Skillcape pop-up messages. After all, achieving Level 99 in any skill is a huge milestone in a 'Scaper's journey and deserves to be acknowledged! These Skillcape pop-ups will highlight where exactly you should visit to obtain your cape. Note that the Skillcape pop-up appears only if you've got "Level-up pop-up notifications" enabled in the Settings menu. If you’d rather not see any pop-ups at all, simply toggle off “Level-up pop-up notifications” to avoid interruptions altogether.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Skill Guides Now Check Whether You Meet the Requirements
Additionally, after some time sink and sprucing up the Skill Guide code database, the game is now able to check your stats and other completions, and highlight whether or not you satisfy the requirements for an entry. So the Skill Guides have gotten a splash of colour:

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

This update involved a lot of under-the-hood reworking of the game's legacy scripts, avoiding messy duplication of data, and creating infrastructure that could be used for more options in future, such as automatically hiding "Members:" if the player is already a member, hiding features that aren't yet unlocked, or even letting you perform custom searches within the menu. You can check out the Game Jam blog for more information about what actually went into this simple-looking update.

Updates to Premier Membership Benefits

Yesterday, our friends over at RuneScape announced upcoming changes to Premier Membership benefits as their new direction evolves, including how we can better distribute its gated benefits to all Members, no matter how you choose to subscribe.

Premier still offers the best value subscription method, but many of the benefits are in direct conflict with their new design direction. Our focus is making sure every Membership prioritises content, features and services as how we deliver the best value possible for your subscription.

Part of this change means that Premier Membership has now been renamed to 12 Month Membership.

If you play both OSRS and RS, and want to see all the information on what’s changing, please check out the full post here.

Other Changes

Let's kick things off with a heads up message: we've temporarily turned off Worlds 329 to 338 so we can upgrade them ahead of Leagues VI launch. Plus, some additional notes:
  • You’ll no longer run into issues moving between rooms in your Player-Owned House if it’s decorated with the Wilderness theme from the Deadman: Annihilation rewards.
  • Resolved an issue where some players were unable to use Prayers in the Permanent Deadman World after transferring their account.
  • Anniversary decorations have been packed away across Gielinor as the “25 Years, 25 Mementos” event came to a close. Thank you for an incredible quarter century and for sharing the same passion for the game that continues to inspire us every day!

Old School Runescape's new cow boss is one tough bovine, but the easy mode is threatening to unleash a herd across Gielinor

Unless you've been living under an udder in Lumbridge, you'll know by now that Old School Runescape has been milking any mention of Brutus the Bovine landing in Lumbridge. The result of Mod Acorn and Mod Arcane's machinations during Game Jam 7 has now entered the paddock, and it's causing a frenzied headache in a bunch of ways.

Cow Boss

First revealed at the Winter Summit 2026, the Cow Boss - awaited with udder excitement - has now moooooooved into Gielinor!
The Ides of Milk
To gain access to the Cow Boss, you first need to complete the quest, The Ides of Milk. Northwest of Lumbridge stands Cassius near the lake, a farmer fellow with a bucket of milk in his hand and a plan to build his own milk empire in his heart. You butter help this fellow get into the milk market in Lumbridge to unlock the boss!

This early-game quest is free-to-play, perfect for budding adventurers to tackle through their journey in Lumbridge, where they first start exploring Gielinor.

Head to Northwest Lumbridge for the quest start point.
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Talk to Cassius to start the quest.
Quest Rewards
Once you've completed the quest, you'll unlock:
  • Access to the Cow Boss
  • Cow Bell Amulet (untradeable)
  • XP Lamp providing 1000 XP in any combat Skill, including Prayer.

You can get the Cow Bell Amulet and the XP Lamp by talking to Gillie Groats who can be found inside the cow farm in Lumbridge. This is a handy teleport item landing you right into the iconic east cow pen, meaning you won't have to hoof it back to Lumbridge. Charged with Air Runes, this will give early game players a nice new teleport that will make travel a little bit nicer. It also lets you milk cows 1 tick quicker (6 instead of 7 ticks per milk). Very powerful, we know.

Talk to Gillie Groats to get the Cowbell Amulet.
Cow Boss Fight and Rewards
The Cow Boss is located at the Northeast corner of the Lumbridge cow farm.
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

After finishing The Ides of Milk, you'll be able to take on the Cow Boss, created for the sole purpose of a true 'low-level' boss. This boss is designed so that it can be fought as early as your first few hours into your Gielinor journey, unlike Scurrius where new players still have some work to do before getting a proper feel for combat in Old School. Cow boss isn't too challenging, just make sure to stay light on your feet and watch your flank... your life is at steak!

Cow Boss is also a repeatable boss, and it's free-to-play just like the quest.

Now, let's take a look at the udderly delightful rewards dropped by the Cow Boss!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
T-bone Steak (Tradeable) and Bull Bones (Untradeable)
The most consistent drops of the boss is a new consumable in the form T-bone Steak, a great new food for low-level accounts. It heals 10 Hitpoints and Level 13 Cooking is required to cook it.

The other consistent drop is the Bull Bones, which works similarly to the Giant Bones from Obor and Bryophita, but giving 40 Prayer XP.

Both the T-bone Steak and Bull Bones are available for free-to-play.
Mooleta (Untradeable)
Get the udder-hand and give yourself a nice early game boost in Melee Strength as you wield the deadly Mooleta. With stats equivalent to a Steel Defender, this will be a great early introduction to off-hands being pretty bloody good.

Mooleta is also available for free-to-play, however note that the rest of the rewards we're listing below are members-only.
Cow Slippers (Tradeable)
The first of the uniques from the brute are the Cow Slippers, which are sure to help you stand out from the herd. Peak fashionscape! They come in four colourways, matching the cows you can find throughout Gileinor.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Bottomless Milk Bucket (Untradeable)
Are you tired of keeping all of your milk in separate places? Have you always wanted a centralised, unlimited space for all of your milk-based products? Look no further than the Bottomless Milk Bucket! This elite container gives you just that and let you upgrade everybody’s favourite grind: Butter Churning.
Beef the Pet
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Finally, the boss drops a pet: Beef! Ain't no one could have beef with this cutie.
Cow Boss Combat Achievements
Combat Achievements have also landed for Cow Boss on its launch, since this is a pretty straight forward boss.

More Changes from the Getting Around Poll

We're picking up where we left off with the changes from the Getting Around Poll along with some QoL improvements. For changes we've already released from the Poll, you can check out here and here.
Quetzal Whistle Unlimited Charges
We've added an unlimited-use option for the Perfected Quetzal Whistle, giving you the ability to upgrade it to hold unlimited charges. This can be unlocked by trading in 10,000 teleport charges worth of Hunter meat to Soar Leader Pitri, providing a permanent, charge-free version of the whistle once earned.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

As part of the Getting Around Poll feedback, you reminded us that the unlimited Quetzal Whistle changes were promised in a blog in September 2023, and we can only apologise for the delay. Thanks for sticking with us on this one and for holding us accountable, we appreciate your patience.
Portal Nexus Additions
We've added the following missing teleports to the Portal Nexus:
  • Trollheim (Standard)
  • Paddewwa (Ancient)
  • Lassar (Ancient)
  • Dareeyak (Ancient)
  • Ourania (Lunar)
  • Barbarian (Lunar)
  • Khazard (Lunar)
  • Ice plateau (Lunar)
  • Respawn (Arceuus)
  • Teleport to boat (Standard)

This means you can now add all available teleports to your Teleport Nexus and Portal Room, allowing you to teleport everywhere from your POH.

These function exactly like before:
  • Adding a teleport to the Portal Nexus costs 1,000 times the normal cost.
  • All spellbook and level requirements still apply.
Revenant Caves Teleport Changes
The Revenant Cave Teleport scroll now allows you to select any of the cave’s entrances, giving you quicker access to the area you actually want to reach. This should be particularly useful for players who prefer to play it a bit safer and start at the southern end of the caves, rather than the northern entrance.

How does this work?

By default, nothing changes. Left-clicking the teleport will continue to take you to the northern entrance. But we've added a 'Configure' option to the Scroll, which you can access by right-clicking on it.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

With this, you're now able to manually choose a preferred entrance...

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

...and set it to send you to your last used entrance.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

This configuration would also apply when teleporting via the Master Scroll Box.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Pickpocketed Runes and the Rune Pouch
Runes obtained from pickpocketing are now placed directly into your Rune Pouch, provided it has space and can already store that Rune type. If not, Runes will continue to go into your inventory as usual. No more steady trickle of runes filling up your inventory when pickpocketing certain NPCs!

Additionally, if you're carrying your Rune Pouch while whizzing around the Hallowed Sepulchre, any runes looted from coffins will now be sent straight into your Pouch.
Expanding the Herb Sack and Sarachnis Instance
You can now upgrade your existing Herb Sack into the Silklined Herb Sack, which can store up to 100 of each grimy herb (up from the Herb Sack's limit of 30). This should allow you to extend your PvM trips and cut down on unnecessary banking!

But how to achieve this upgrade?

To obtain the upgrade, you need a new untradeable item: Pristine Spider Silk, dropped by Sarachnis. Using the silk on a standard Herb Sack will consume the Herb Sack and permanently upgrade it into a Silklined Herb Sack.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

A few extra details:
  • The Silklined Herb Sack has a distinct visual appearance, clearly setting it apart from the standard version.
  • You can own only one Herb Sack at a time, whether standard or upgraded.
  • Extra Pristine Spider Silk drops can be traded with Brother Aimeri located in the Forthos Dungeon for Grubby Keys, so duplicate drops aren’t wasted.

During the feedback gathering process, you shared concerns about increased competition for worlds and excessive world-hopping would be a major frustration. To address that, we're offering an optional instanced version of Sarachnis alongside this change. You can now gain access to private instances of Sarachnis by paying a fee of 25,000 GP. If you've completed Hard Tier Sarachnis Combat Achievements though, this amount will be reduced to 12,500 GP.

This should allow you to pursue the upgrade without excessive world-hopping, while leaving the existing non-instanced boss exactly as it is.

That's it for the Getting Around Poll changes, for now. We'll continue from where we left off in the upcoming weeks, stay tuned.

Deadman: Annihilation Announcements
Deadman: Annihilation Finale
Due to limited capacity with our brackets during last weekend's Deadman: Annihilation Finale, we'd like to give an opportunity to those players who missed out on the chaos by opening a secondary finale world for the 96+ bracket this Saturday. Any players that were previously eligible for our finale, but could not enter last weekend, will be able to access this world from February 28th at 5pm UTC to prepare for the carnage, and the Finale will start at 6pm UTC.

Due to the quick turn around to run the event and not wanting to delay players further from getting their hands on the Deadman: Annihilation cosmetic rewards and World 345, there will be no additional prizes or broadcast of this second bracket finale. We will however have a secondary world prepared in case the same problem occurs!

While you will be able to access both World 345 and the Deadman Rewards shop with this week's update, please note: IF YOU ARE WANTING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FINALE THIS WEEKEND DO NOT ENTER WORLD 345. Doing so will lock you out of being able to take part in this weekend's finale.

It is important to the team that we learn from this oversight and look to implement actions to be ready for this in the future. Finally, we'd like to say thank you for your patience on this matter.

Good luck and get ready to enter Daimon's Crater this Saturday, February 28th at 6pm UTC!
Permanent Deadman (World 345) & Deadman Rewards
Today, our permanent Deadman will reopen for the carnage to commence! Your stats and untradeables will be transferred over from all your hard work during Deadman: Annihilation, so you'll be able to jump into the action much sooner! You'll be given 12 hours of protection to go gather some gear if you like the high risk gameplay that Deadman provides.

Talk to Nigel in the Lumbridge Graveyard to access the Rewards Shop.
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Alongside that, Nigel's finally ready to open his store on both regular worlds and the Permanent Deadman World (345). To access your points in the regular worlds, you'll first need to log in to the Permanent Deadman World (World 345), then you can log in to a regular world and your points will be available.

Remember: IF YOU ARE WANTING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FINALE THIS WEEKEND, DO NOT ENTER WORLD 345.
Weapon Recolours
This year, we've got cosmetic overrides for the Toxic Staff of the Dead, the Bow of Faerdhinen, and Crystal Armour.

To get these recolours for the Bow of Faerdhinen and Crystal Armour:
  • First, use the Annihilation Weapon Scroll on Nigel.
  • Then, use one of the items you'd like to recolour on Nigel and voila, it's recoloured!

Crystal Armour and Bow of Faerdhinen recolour.
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

You'll see that the Toxic Staff override has a spooky face inside, and a scary hooded figure for when you mis-click your Special Attack!

Toxic Staff of the Dead cosmetic override.

These are permanent and toggleable rather than being kits that you lose on death or need to be re-applied constantly, so they're extremely easy-to-use and forgiving.
Wilderness-themed POH Kit
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

You may remember this concept art from Mod Jerv's 2024 Game Jam project - it drummed up a whole lot of excitement! And now, here it is in-game.

To redecorate your POH with the Wilderness theme:
  • Buy the Annihilation Blueprints from Nigel
  • Go to an Estate Agent and redecorate your POH by selecting the Wilderness theme within the redecorate option. Your house will now have the Wilderness theme!
  • If you'd like the orange portal, which we're sure many of you do, you'll have been given some Annihilation Exit Portal Blueprints, that can also be obtained from Nigel again once you've handed in the Annihilation Blueprints.

Due to some special POH mechanics for exit portals, to get the orange portal set up, you will need to:
  • Build a new Garden in your POH.
  • Build a basic Exit Portal in the new Garden.
  • Remove your previous portal, and then build the Annihilation Exit Portal there and you'll see that it's orange.
  • You can go ahead and remove the other Garden you built, if you wish to.
Home Teleport Animation
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Ever wondered who put the Wilderness Lever there? Or how it even works in the first place? We don't have a single answer to any of these questions, but we do have a new Home Teleport animation to let you materialise your own lever and take yourself home!
Sailing Tweaks
  • A charged Horn of Plenty is now prioritised higher for protection on death, reflecting the guide price of the uncharged one.
  • Updated the Fishing Skill Guide to correctly display that Vibrant Shoal requires Level 86 and Bluefin Shoal Level 87.
  • The Cooking Skill Guide has been updated to display that Marlins require Level 91 Cooking. During refinement, Marlin was polled at Level 93 Cooking, however, it has been cookable in-game at Level 91. Given the minimal level difference, we’ve decided to keep it at a Level 91 Cooking requirement. Apologies for any confusion!
  • Although Marlin was originally polled to require Level 93, it has been cookable at Level 91. Given the minimal level difference, we’ve decided to keep the Level 91 requirement. Apologies for any confusion!
  • Your Personal Best Time for Shellbane Gryphon is now shown in the Collection Log.
  • The Shellbane Gryphon no longer gives rewards if a player prevents their clue scroll from being updated while they're killing it without a Slayer task.
  • Fixed an issue where players were not correctly displayed when playing table games inside the Pandemonium Pub.
  • The messaging on the lockbox directions scroll from Brittle Isle has been corrected to say "West" instead of "East".

Client & Mobile Updates

Last week we shared the news that we would stop serving 32bit Android devices from mid-March. Following this, many of you rightfully asked "well how do I know?"

Well, in truth there was no clean and easy way to check - until now! On Monday, as part of our latest client update (to client version 236.2) we added a little debug descriptor to the top of the login screen for Android devices only.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

You don't need to do anything to trigger it - it will just show you whether you're using 32bit or 64 bit Android. Hopefully this helps easily answer the question!

We were also asked for a little more info on why we have made this decision, and what it means for us with future client work. While running the New renderer open beta last year we found we had a lot of bugs that were exclusively affecting 32 bit Android. So as we look to the future with reopening the new renderer with Classic visuals and then further on to Full HD, it was no longer feasible for us to maintain the Android 32 bit build.

It's hard to quantify exactly how this affects our work from a time-perspective, but it essentially gives us one less build type to test and one less area that causes bugs to fix. Overall though, it opens up the opportunities available for future work. We know we're always shipping "back-end fixes for future work" in our client updates, but this really is a game changer example!

On the topic of our latest client update, in case you missed it, we did also make the following fixes:
  • Tag all now correctly tags the tile below your tagee.
  • We fixed an issue causing tile markers to duplicate on lower layers, so you should no longer be seeing double!
  • Fixed an issue where tag-all would incorrectly highlight unrelated NPCs.
  • Similarly, we've fixed an issue where certain NPC's were not highlighted by tag-all.
  • Fixed an issue where ground item overlays (text, helpers) could disappear while Sailing.
Rune Armour
Forged for battle and ready for adventure, this Youtooz figure brings a classic armour set straight from Old School RuneScape. Equipped with a Rune Scimitar, Full Helm, and the iconic Ardougne Cape flowing behind him, this warrior looks like he’s just walked away from a legendary fight with Elvarg. And honestly… if he hadn’t, at least one of those armour pieces would still be adamant.
Dragon Armour
Pure flex fashionscape is on show. This figure captures a warrior mid-stride, clad in a Dragon Med Helm, Dragon Chainbody, Dragon Platelegs, and Dragon Boots, frozen in heroic action. With an Amulet of Glory resting proudly around his neck and a Dragon Scimitar at the ready, he’s clearly no stranger to epic questlines. The Legends Cape draped across his back seals the deal with proof he’s battled, explored, and earned his place among Gielinor’s elite.
Monitor Buddies
Other Changes

After updating the deposit buttons on the Deposit Box UI to match the Bank UI for consistency, you've requested a toggle to hide the Deposit Worn Items buttons to prevent mis-clicking it. Based on your feedback, we've gone and did just that -added a setting to hide the Deposit Worn Items button in the Deposit Box interface, should you wish to. You can now toggle the Deposit Worn Items button on/off in the Deposit Box Settings Menu, found in the top-right corner of the Deposit Box interface.

25th Anniversary Event: 25 Years, 25 Mementos | February 18th

25 years of RuneScape meets 13 years of Old School... This calls for a celebration!

Changelog - February 18th

[expand]

25th Anniversary Event: 25 Years, 25 Mementos
  • This year marks 25 years of RuneScape and 13 years of Old School, bringing the perfect opportunity for a brand-new anniversary event!
  • Start the event by talking to the Apprentice Wizard Gary Grayzag in southern Varrock, and help him open a portal to the Realm of Memories, a place where you can see and fight versions of creatures from the history of RuneScape. Think you've been there before? Well, there are more memories now - including the retro Kalphite Queen in her 2004-style glory!
  • New rewards, inspired by Tim & Crunchy and by the event itself, await those who complete the event:
    • 25th Anniversary Helmet
    • 25th Anniversary Skeleton Tabard
    • 25th Anniversary Warrior Tabard
    • 25th Anniversary 5x5 Hat
  • Plus, mark your calendars for our upcoming Anniversary Livestream on February 27th 16:00 UTC, where we'll be joined by MMORPG, Zecookies and Megan!
Deadman: Annihilation Tweaks
  • To complete the “Have Prissy Scilla protect your Magic tree” task in the Western Province Diary, you can now pay Prissy Scilla to protect the tree.
  • Summoned thralls via the spellbook will now last twice as long if you have the Sigil of the Augmented Thrall unlocked.
  • Deadman Chests for Artio/Callisto, Calvarion/Vetion, Spindel/Venenatis now spawn outside of their cave entrance, allowing you to attempt to loot the chests without constantly being attacked by the bosses.
  • The Trinket of Avarice will now also loot bones from NPCs automatically.
  • Your noted items will now stack as intended even if your Looting Bag is full when you have the Trinket of Avarice active.
  • The risk calculation when attempting to enter a raids area is now based on high alch value, instead of grand exchange value. Accordingly, the required value has also been lowered to 500,000 GP from 800,000.
  • Since parts of the Ruins of Unkah breach occur in a safe zone, the location has been removed.
  • Breach NPCs will no longer spawn on water.
  • The Deadman skull countdown timer for the 2am breach now shows the remaining time left correctly.
Sailing Tweaks
  • The current restrictions for UIMs on the Cargo hold have been removed. UIMs will be able to use the Cargo Hold like regular Ironmen - no more limited capacity!
  • We’d love your feedback! Should the colours of Steel and Iron cannonballs be swapped to better match their appearance elsewhere in-game, and should the same change also apply to Steel and Iron nails? Share your thoughts in the comments on the dedicated update post across our social media platforms.
Other Changes
  • We've made some feedback changes to the music system improvements from last week:
    • Your mobile and desktop clients will now remember their volume settings separately. Meaning if you're an audio-enjoyer when gaming at home but don't want the entire bus to hear you blasting tunes on your way to work, your mobile client will remember its own muted settings.
    • We've made it even easier to tell at a glance which track you're vibing along to with a handy recolour - and yes you can pick the colour from the settings!
    • The "now playing" text above the music list can be clicked to read the unlock hint and to add/remove the track from a playlist.
  • Fixed an issue with right-clicking Eluned in Prifddinas to recharge crystals, they will now charge correctly.
  • Resolved a host of Z-buffering issues:
    • Clipping issues have been fixed for the following:
      • The Nightmare's flower visual effects
      • The Kalphite Queen's tunnel entrance
      • Upstairs in the Grimstone Dungeon
      • The cave where the Hueycoatl sits
      • The vines near the Gryphon nests
      • Pier floors of Port Sarim, Port Phasmatys, Lunar Isle, Rellekka and Piscarillius

      • The Large Orrery in POH
      • The Blue Moon Inn fireplace
      • The walls of the Civitas and Fancy Stone house styles through another floor
    • Fixed some rendering and flickering issues for:
      • The shadows of the pillars in Tombs of Amascut
      • The shadows of Leagues Trophies in the POH
      • The Earthen Shield and the ranged larvae at The Doom of Mokhaiotl
      • Some visual effects inside the Scar maze during Desert Treasure II

      • The Kourend Sigil banners
      • Various assets in The Path of Glouphrie environment
      • Some staircases in Hosidius as well as Varrock Museum stairs
    • The cape icons of the Skillcape Masters are now visible for Crafting, Woodcutting, Herblore, Fishing and Firemaking.
  • Hovering over the 10 quantity button in the bank/GIM storage no longer claims that the default quantity would be 5 if you clicked that button.

25 Years, 25 Mementos

This year marks 25 years of RuneScape. That's a quarter of a century of 'Scaping! In other words, a quarter century of grinds and gains, action and achievements, fun and friendships forged across Gielinor...

On top of 25 years of RuneScape, this month marks 13 years of Old School, bringing the perfect opportunity for a brand-new anniversary event. We've previously said that special events like anniversaries or birthdays would be reserved to milestone years, 25 years of 'Scaping is exactly that! So, get ready to take a walk down memory lane with: 25 Years, 25 Mementos.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

To kick things off, head to southern Varrock and chat to the Apprentice Wizard Gary Grayzag. He's been digging through his father's old notes on the mysterious Realm of Memories, and he's convinced he can open a portal there! To do it, he needs your help gathering 25 symbolic mementos - each one represents the skills and moments that have shaped RuneScape over the last 25 years. Will you help this young wizard work his magic and prove himself as a fully-fledged wizard?

Remember asking "Where Varrock?" when you first set foot in Gielinor? Where better than Varrock to initiate the anniversary event?
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Speak to Gary in southern Varrock to start the event.
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Think you've been to the Realm of Memories before? Not this version! Once all mementos are in place, you'll unlock an updated version of the Realm of Memories - with new memories and NPCs including the retro Kalphite Queen in her 2004-style glory! To explore this realm where you can see and fight versions of creatures from the history of RuneScape, go ahead and embark on an adventure with Gary!
Rewards
Of course, it wouldn't be an anniversary without brand new rewards! The following four cosmetics await those of you complete the event:
  • 25th Anniversary Helmet and 25th Anniversary Skeleton Tabard, inspired by Crunchy from the iconic Tim and Crunchy duo.
  • 25th Anniversary Warrior Tabard, inspired from Tim likewise.
  • 25th Anniversary 5x5 Hat - you'll know why when you play the event...

We'll be joined by some of your favourite OSRS content creators for some fun and games: MMORPG, Zecookies, Megan!

Plus, Postbag from the Hedge will make a return. You can write directly to the characters of Gielinor, and some of them will answer you live on stream.

Deadman: Annihilation Tweaks

If you have the Sigil of Nature, you might’ve run into an issue where you couldn’t complete the “Have Prissy Scilla protect your Magic tree” task in the Western Province Diary. This is because the sigil automatically plants and grows seeds in farming patches, but that’s been sorted. You can now just right-click Prissy Scilla, pay her to protect the tree, and the achievement will be completed.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

In addition, we've got the following fixes:

We know that you'd have liked to see some of these changes sooner, and we can only apologise for the delay. There's been a lot going on behind-the-scenes that requires careful testing and consideration, so we haven't been able to fit as many player-facing changes in as we'd have wanted to. For now, make the most of these changes ahead of the Finale on February 21st, and note that these improvements will carry forward into future Deadman events as well.
Finale Prizes
While we've got your attention and this weekend's Finale is fresh on your minds, we've got exciting news! Despite there not being a cash prizepool this year, winners of the various brackets won't be going away empty-handed and will instead be getting some merch to show off (alongside the bragging rights). That means that if you're lucky enough to be the last player standing, make sure to keep an eye on your character's inbox because we'll be in touch! Full Terms & Conditions can be found here, and below is a list of what's on the line!

Make sure to join us live on Twitch this Saturday, February 21st at 18:00 UTC for the epic conclusion to our biggest Deadman yet!

Sailing Tweaks

The current restrictions for UIMs on the Cargo hold have been removed. UIMs will be able to use the Cargo Hold like regular Ironmen - no more limited capacity! We hope you'll enjoy these changes, and thanks for your patience as we worked on them.

In other news, the team is hoping to launch changes to boat combat very soon, so that we can start to tackle the problems highlighted around boat combat from the Sailing opinion poll. If you're not familiar with the changes yet, please check out this blog for more information. During the development of these changes, we identified that the colour of cannonballs are a little confusing. Steel cannonballs look like they should be Iron, and vice versa. Not to mention that Steel and Iron Nails also don't seem to accurately depict their metal.

We think this should be changed, please see the following picture for our proposal:

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

We feel strongly that this change makes sense for the game and would improve the new player experience in particular. However, since the current assets have been in-game for quite a while, we would really appreciate your feedback on these tweaks before they are live. Would you be happy with these changes, or do you feel strongly that the current assets should remain the same?

As this type of adjustment relates to art, it falls under content that we don't typically poll. However, do let us know your thoughts on it and we'll take it into consideration.
New Failed Payment Service E-mail
We're introducing a new automated service email that will be sent if a scheduled membership payment doesn't go through.

If you receive this message, don’t worry. It's a standard notification letting you know there was an issue processing your payment and guiding you on how to update your details if needed.

Payment issues can happen for many reasons, such as expired cards or bank regulations, and this alert is simply to help you take action quickly and avoid any interruption to your membership.

As always, please stay vigilant when it comes to your account security. While this email is a legitimate part of our account support process, phishing attempts do still occur and bad actors may attempt to fool you using this new email alert.

If you're ever unsure about an email claiming to be from Jagex, please keep the following in mind:
  • We only send these notifications from [email protected]
    • Attackers may still be able to spoof this address, however, it should be flagged as spam by your email provider in most situations.
  • We will never ask for your password via email.
  • Links provided in the email go to our billing page via the Jagex Launcher. If you have any doubt, do not click links in the email. Instead, visit the official Old School RuneScape or RuneScape website directly and review your account there.

On Saturday, February 28th, join us at the Ferox Enclave on World 499 as Mods Rach and Civ go head-to-head in a Castle Wars showdown.

This isn’t your standard Castle Wars match. Each team gets a J-Mod dropped into the action as an unkillable, flag-stealing menace. Mods Rach and Civ will each have 100k Hitpoints, zero fear, and one goal: steal the enemy flag. As soon as the match begins, the opposing J-Mod will teleport straight into your base. Your job is to stop them, protect your own J-Mod, and escort that walking mountain of Hitpoints safely home.

When?
  • Saturday, February 28th
  • 16:00 UTC/GMT (massing from 15:45 UTC/GMT, 10:45 ET, 07.45 PT, 2:45 AET)
Where?
  • Ferox Enclave
  • World 499
  • The Mods will be live in a Discord Call and screensharing too, for anyone who wants to sit back and watch the chaos unfold!

"We have not stopped supporting Pride," Runescape developers say. However, they don't plan to create new Pride quest content in 2026

Last June, Jagex - the developers of medieval MMO Runescape - found themselves at odds with players after deciding not to create any new content for Pride Month. Disputed internally at the studio before the discussion then leaked online, the decision appeared to be a retreat in the face of a world turning on minority groups.

Following up in September, Games Industry asked Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy if he stood by the call to simply re-run existing Pride-themed quests and events. "Ultimately, my job is governance and protection as much as anything else, and so sometimes those kinds of harsh decisions have to be made to protect the imminent future of the game," he told them. "If there are tough decisions to be made next year, we'll make them. If the world has changed a bit and the environment is different, we will react accordingly."

Five months on and with this year's Pride Month on the horizon, we've asked if the environment is different.
