Old School Runescape player scores 16 billion gold for PvP kill

C Engineer is an Old School Runescape streamer who started an ironman run two years ago, asking his viewers to donate money to a prize pool to be claimed by whoever managed to kill him. It was initially a "hardcore ironman" run but he dropped the hardcore element after dying in a boss fight, intending to end the series only if he managed to earn an infernal cape, or died to another player. The latter finally happened this month...

Quest Speedrunning | Weekly Game Update (October 11th)

This week’s update sees the launch of Quest Speedrunning!

Quest Speedrunning
What was that? A bird? A plane? No, it’s Quest Speedrunning, zooming its way to Old School!

Speedrunning is the art of playing video games as quickly as possible, and the Old School RuneScape community has been doing it unofficially for as long as we can remember.

Soon, you’ll be able to test your speedrunning skills in a brand-new, official game mode, and compete for untradeable cosmetic rewards!

So limber up and keep reading to learn all you need to know before Quest Speedrunning launches tomorrow, Wednesday 12th at approximately 11:30 BST.

(Why’s the update here early, if the content still launches tomorrow? Well, we wanted to have plenty of time to test all the engine changes we’re releasing alongside this update. As every speedrunner knows, practice makes perfect)!

Quest Speedrunning Worlds
Remember, Quest Speedrunning takes place on separate, members-only worlds with different save files.

Here's a quick reminder about the differences between Quest Speedrunning Worlds and regular ones:
  • No tutorial.
  • No trading – all players are considered Iron accounts.
  • No PvP.
  • No access to Castle Wars, the PvP Arena, Fight Pits, Last Man Standing, Rat Pits, Soul Wars, or Trouble Brewing.
  • Teleport cooldowns (such as the Home Teleport) are paused on logout, so players can’t log out and wait 30 minutes to regain their teleport and cheat the system.
  • Shops have a static stock and items are never sold out.
  • Items can still be sold to shops but will be immediately deleted.
  • Items picked up from the floor are player-specific, so multiple speedrunners can obtain the same item without having to worry about competition!
  • Dropped items behave as normal, but will be deleted once the speedrun ends.
  • Death works as normal.

In addition, to discourage chicanery, the following rules apply to players on Speedrunning Worlds who are not on a speedrun:
  • XP gain is disabled.
  • Deaths are safe and any items dropped on death are immediately deleted. If you die while not on a speedrun, you will respawn in Lumbridge with the items you had.
Getting Started
Step 1

Log into a Quest Speedrunning World and you'll be immediately prompted to select the quest you’d like to run via the Quest Speedrunning menu.

You'll see the following data for the quest that you’ve selected:
  • Current Speedrun Time.
  • Personal Best Time.
  • Global Best Time.
  • Times required for each trophy (see Rewards section).
  • Unlocks:
    • Unlocks are the stats, completed quests, travel, and other unlocks you’ll get when starting a speedrun. These unlocks are the same for everyone.
  • Items:
    • This heading shows the items you’ll get when starting your chosen quest. Be aware that the items given are not necessarily the items required – for example, if the quest requires a dagger, you may be given a suitable pickaxe (or the money to buy one) to go mine some ore and smith it into the dagger you need.

After you’ve made your choice, the game will automatically adjust your stats to the recommended levels for the quest you’ve chosen and provide all the relevant items. This keeps things fair and ensures that everyone starts in the same place.

Step 2

The race will begin after you speak to the relevant NPC and begin the quest – after that point, the Speedrun Timer will be ticking, and you’ll be conveniently whisked away to the start point of your chosen quest. The timer will automatically stop once the quest is complete or when the speedrun is abandoned, which can be done at any time via the Speedrunning Menu. If things go wrong, you can also cancel your current adventure and start over from that same menu – convenient! Logging out will pause the timer but be aware that doing so will add a couple of seconds to your time to prevent logging out becoming a viable strategy.

Your current time is shown on the Speedrunning Menu and the Speedrunning Helper, which appears onscreen throughout the run and also displays the time required for the next trophy.

Step 3

Finished Speedrunning and ready for your reward? Head over to the NPC located by the Fountain in Varrock Square to find the Speedrunning Rewards Shop! Since they're all untradeable, you'll be able to reclaim any rewards you purchase should you accidentally lose them.

Rewards
Rewards from Quest Speedrunning are a real flex, as they can only be obtained by taking part in this game mode. At launch there will be a maximum of 1,600 points available, because there are only five quests to complete.

Let’s take a look at those rewards!

Adventurer's Outfit Tier 1 (200 Reward Points)

Adventurer's Outfit Tier 2 (600 Reward Points)

Adventurer's Outfit Tier 3 (1800 Reward Points)

If you’re skilled enough to obtain the Tier 3 Adventurer’s Outfit, you might also be excited to learn that it acts as a Graceful Outfit transmog. Could this be the new meta for Graceful FashionScape?

Speedy Teleport Scroll (600 Reward Points)

Giant Stopwatch (1200 Reward Points)

Reward Points
You can earn four different trophies per quest, ranging from Bronze to Platinum! Earning a trophy for the first time will get you Reward Points – the better the trophy, the more Points you’ll get.
  • Bronze: 10 Points
  • Silver: 30 Points
  • Gold: 80 Points
  • Platinum: 200 Points

The total Reward Points available for each quest is 320 Points.

But that’s not all – you’ll also unlock your hard-earned trophies as in-game items! They provide no mechanical buffs, but they will show everyone you meet that you’re a Quest Speedrunning champion.

To unlock the trophies as items, you’ll need to unlock every trophy of that level for all the quests on the Speedrunning list – so to wield the Bronze Trophy, you’ll need to complete all the quests to at least Bronze standard.

You can only earn a given trophy once, but you can always go back and try to earn a higher-level one! Be aware that you can earn multiple trophies in one speedrun, so if you get the Platinum on your first go, you’ll also unlock Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

The Speedrunning Menu will help you keep track of which trophies you’ve already earned, and the Speedrunning Helper will let you know which time you need to beat to earn your next trophy.

Here the five quests which will be available on launch day tomorrow:
Changes and Fixes
Now that we've covered what's coming in tomorrow's game update, let’s look at the content changes which will be going live on Tuesday October 11th – that’s today! These changes are small but impactful improvements to the main game.

Tombs of Amascut Improvements
  • We've given the Warden pet variants some attack animations and unique lines when battling in the Combat Ring of the Player Owned House. Check them out!
  • Tumeken’s Shadow now correctly has a 4x Accuracy and Damage multiplier within Tombs of Amascut.
  • Masori Chaps will no longer stretch when swimming in Zebak’s boss room.
  • Using an Emergency Teleport Crystal on someone else in the raid will no longer use two Crystals instead of one.
  • Fixed an issue where corner tiles in the Path of Scabaras puzzles were difficult to step on when the camera was pointed eastwards.
Other Changes
  • Options on an NPC will now disappear as soon as it starts dying.
  • Fixed an issue where the Clan Hall staircase allowed players to teleport from the balcony to the ground and vice versa.
  • Corrected the data relating to Shattered Relics on the Leagues Accomplishment Scroll.
  • The Clan Hall Combat Ring will now run the proper safety checks and prevent players from losing items and/or HCIM status when dying this way.
  • The Catalytic Tiara can now be used to enter the Law Altar, provided you've completed Troll Stronghold. Previously, it was checking Eadgar's Ruse for completion by mistake.
  • The Ancient Godsword can now perform its healing ability more reliably in Last Man Standing.
  • Players raiding a beehive at Catherby can now use a full Beekeeper Outfit for protection rather than the usual Repellent.
  • Spam-clicking the altars in the Tower of Life basement will no longer accidentally steal your ingredients.

Clan Hall Upgrades and More! | Weekly Game Update (October 5th)

This week, we’ve got content from Poll 76, a quick update on Quest Speedrunning, and some Tombs of Amascut changes!

Poll 76
It’s getting chilly out there, so why not get warm and cosy in the Clan Hall? This week we’ve added a Combat Ring and a Party Chest for all your celebratory needs. What's better than sparring with your friends and then getting loads of fr33 st00f afterwards?

Clan Hall Combat Ring

The Clan Hall now sports a dedicated Combat Ring for you and your buddies to duel in! It’s located in the northwest section of the Clan Hall, where you can take a shortcut up a set of stairs to reach it or walk dramatically around the edge. Your choice!

This Combat Ring works exactly the same as all the others – it’s a safe death, and the gloves and other Player Owned Housing items cannot be removed from the ring. Don’t try sneaking them back to Falador – it’s not gonna work this time!

Clan Hall Party Chest

When you’re done scrapping about, why not soothe those bruised egos with a friendly drop party? Just place your items in the Party Chest, located in the main section of the Clan Hall, and get ready to pop those balloons!

There’s also an extra Party Chest near the Clan Bank for ease of use.

Right-clicking the Chest will tell you its current permissions. Clan Leaders have the ability to set these permissions, which allow players to pull the lever, deposit items, and receive drops.

Stackable items (including any Noted ones) can be added to the Party Chest and will drop in bunches. We’ve added a stack count just like we have for Banks – and for parity, the same feature has been added to the main Party Room Chest. No need to thank us, Party Pete!

To make things fair, items will remain on the ground for a full five minutes, instead of the usual two, giving you plenty of time to grab your stuff.

Since Clan Halls are instances, the party will go on as long as someone from your Clan is still in the Hall. However, if everyone leaves, the instance will be deleted along with all the dropped items. If you’re planning to duck out and return later, make sure someone stays behind to keep the instance open.

One more cause for celebration – that’s the last of the Poll 76 changes! Phew! Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming blog which will tell you all the cool stuff you can vote on in Poll 77.

Leagues Accomplishment Scroll

The Leagues Accomplishment Scroll, located in the Trophy Room of your Player Owned House, now contains all the data from our most recent League: Shattered Relics!

Right-click the Scroll to see...
  • Your stats from the League (if you took part)
  • The Top 100 players from Shattered Relics
  • Shattered Relics League Firsts

We know you can’t wait to hear more information about the next League, and we’ll let you know as soon as we have more information to share. For now though, take a look at the latest update from our Leadership Team!

Updated Launch Date for Quest Speedrunning
The launch date for Quest Speedrunning is now Wednesday, October 12th. We’re taking some extra time to review your feedback and update the engine to accommodate this release. Thank you for your patience!

Tombs of Amascut Changes
Last week, we optimised the code used for the Akkha and Wardens fights. We did not expect this to affect the functionality of the raid and so kept it silent in the Patch Notes.

Unfortunately, shortly after the update we discovered that there were some player-facing side-effects we hadn’t intended. It was previously possible to skip certain attacks and mitigate damage in these boss fights, which became impossible after we made last week’s change.

This week, we’ve fixed the issue. Both boss fights should now be back to normal.

We apologise for the inconvenience and would like to thank everyone who submitted reports about the issue.

Now, on to this week’s changes!

Players are now able to drop the following potions anywhere inside Tombs of Amascut and have them show up immediately:
  • Super Combat
  • Divine Super Combat
  • Ranged
  • Divine Ranged
  • Bastion
  • Divine Bastion
  • Sanfew Serum
  • Stamina
  • Antidote++
  • Antivenom+

The Bank Camel's name will also now be a valid answer to the "MACHETE CLAM" Clue once you've learned it! Don’t know what this means? Get yourself a Camulet and find out!

The following hotfixes were made last week:
  • Removed an unintentional safespot in the Wardens Phase 3.
  • Fixed a bug where the mid-way loot ‘Withdraw 1’ Option withdrew ‘All’ the loot instead.

And here are this week’s fixes:
  • The Rewards and Loot Interfaces have been pushed around a few pixels to make them look better.
  • Fixed a bug that showed up in raids with two or more players where Energy Siphons became misaligned during the Wardens Phase 3.
  • Players can no longer stand instead of swim on a certain tile in the Zebak fight.
  • Fixed a bug where the animation on Tumeken's Shadow differed slightly between PvP and PvM.
  • Fixed a visual bug caused by swimming during the Zebak fight while wearing the Masori Armour.
  • Void tiles in the Wardens Phase 3 will no longer prevent players from clicking the Crystal and leaving the room. We've removed the ranged blocking from the tiles, which should stop people getting stuck.

Other Changes
PvP Arena Changes

It’s really important that players show up their duels when they sign up in the PvP Arena. No-shows affect the matchmaking system and cause unnecessary frustration for their opponents. To encourage players to stick around, we’ve made a change that penalises players who fail to attend their duels.

Rank Points will now be automatically removed when players receive an invitation to duel. Don’t panic! They’ll be restored as soon as you enter the staging area when the fight begins.

If your duel partner fails to appear, your points will still be refunded, as long as you yourself have made it to the staging area.

To clarify:
  • When you find a duel, your Rank is now automatically reduced.
  • The Rank Points will be refunded when the fight starts, or if the fight expires while you are waiting in the staging area.

Players should only have their Rank reduced once per duel. Additionally, you will no longer see the orange ‘in a duel’ icon next to your name until you start receiving notifications about your next match.

This system is not intended to affect players who are competing in the PvP Arena normally. We understand that sometimes life gets in the way, but this change is aimed at repeat offenders, not players who have to skip duels rarely for legitimate reasons.

Miscellaneous Changes

  • A ‘Check’ option has been added to the Explorer's Ring. Use it to learn the number of Alchs, Teleports, and Run Restores left.
  • Entries in Boss and Slayer Logs are now sorted in alphabetical order.
  • Heroes' Quest has been fixed for players stuck in a broken state. Apparently, somebody managed to start the quest as a Phoenix Gang member, even though they're actually in the Black Arm Gang. What an experience that must have been!
  • You will now be reminded when you are about to be logged out 30 minutes and 10 minutes before the end of a 6-hour session, on top of the existing warnings.
  • You can now find your kingdom statistics (including approval rating and coffer value) at the bottom of the Throne of Miscellania and Royal Trouble Quest Journals.
  • The altars in the Tower of Life basement have had their dialogue boxes streamlined to reduce the clicking required to use them.
  • The Spin Flax Lunar Spell will now queue if you cast a second Spin Flax spell before the last one finishes, akin to other spells such as High Alchemy or Tan Hides.

PvP Rota
The PvP rota has moved to Period A:
  • 539 - (US) - PvP World
  • 548 - (Germany) - High-Risk PvP World
  • 577 - (US) - Free-to-Play PvP World
  • 559 - (UK) - LMS Competitive

World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been activated with this rota.

The PvP Arena is using Zerker loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week.

Fresh Start Worlds Blog

Fresh Start Worlds is coming to Old School on October 19th! Keep reading to learn more…

Old School's Fresh Start Worlds
Fresh Start Worlds is your chance to restart your Old School journey! It’s the Old School RuneScape you know and love, except with a fresh economy, fresh HiScores, and, of course, fresh adventure!

You remember starting Old School, all those years ago. Wasn’t it exciting to play shoulder-to-shoulder with players at the same stage of the game as you? One of the major problems reported by new players is that they don’t get this experience – everyone they meet is further along in their journey. Fresh Start Worlds offers the unique opportunity to start from scratch with thousands of other players at your side. It’s the perfect opportunity for new (or returning) players to jump in, meet others, and play together!

Fresh Start Worlds are free-to-play. They aren’t a replacement for Leagues or Deadman Mode, but an exciting new way to experience the unique charm of Old School RuneScape.

This is not strictly a competitive game mode, but because we’re starting from a blank slate, there’ll be plenty of new HiScores and World Firsts up for grabs! We’ve also developed a Fresh Start Worlds-exclusive Achievements system to help guide new players – but it won’t offer additional rewards.

After six months, your progress in Fresh Start Worlds will automatically transfer over to the main game. That includes your items, Quest Points, skill levels, and your actual soul. Maybe. We reckon that after six months, new players will have had plenty of time to get to grips with the game and will be ready to progress further and at a faster pace.

Design
The gameplay in Fresh Start Worlds is exactly the same as the main game, but the economy and HiScores will be brand new!

Fresh Start Worlds will receive all the same regular game updates as the main game. We can’t wait to see how far you’ll go!

Unlike the RuneScape version of Fresh Start Worlds, Old School freshers will not have increased XP or drop rates. Notably, Ironman Mode will also not be available on Fresh Start Worlds. This update is designed for new players, so we thought it best to keep things simple.

Opt-In System

Fresh Start Worlds will be completely opt-in. To play, you’ll need to complete the tutorial on any world. At the end of the tutorial, you’ll see a prompt asking whether you'd like a Fresh Start account or a main game account.

Here's what that looks like:

The helpful ‘Find Out More’ button will tell you more information about Fresh Start Worlds, in case you’re not sure what you’re getting into, or you don’t read newsposts. (In which case… how are you seeing this?)

You’ll also see the number of days left until Fresh Start Worlds closes and accounts are merged with the main game – so you can make a fully-informed choice about whether it’s worth starting your adventure on Fresh Start Worlds or not.

A Fresh Start account can be changed into a main one at any time, but please note that this doesn’t work the other way around. To reiterate, you won’t be able to play Fresh Start Worlds if you choose to make a main game account.

Once you’ve made your choice, you’ll be teleported away from Tutorial Island and automatically placed in one of the Fresh Start Worlds. Woohoo!

Now that we've covered the basics of Fresh Start Worlds, let's talk about more of the unique aspects of the design!

How do we keep players engaged with new worlds on a new economy?

Achievement System

The Achievement Points Interface

Fresh Start Worlds will have a unique Achievement System to mark milestones on your journey. From your Side Panel Interface, you'll be able to see how many Achievement Points (AP) you've earned so far. After all, who doesn't like seeing numbers go up?

The updated version of the Side Panel interface for Fresh Start Worlds.

Achievement Points (AP) are awarded for participating in various activities across Gielinor. Accumulating AP is relatively straightforward, and many players won’t even realise they’re doing it! Activities such as Quests, Bossing, Achievement Diaries and completing Clue Scrolls all award AP.

AP doesn't give you access to any new rewards, but it's our way of promoting progression and rewarding newbies when they're on the right track. If you’re getting AP, you know you’re progressing nicely!

The Activity Advisor and existing Adventure Path system will also be present on Fresh Start Worlds. We're hoping these tools, alongside the new Achievement System, will help guide new players through the daunting early-game period. It's intended to help people feel like they're making good progress and reward them for doing so.

We're keen to see if this is a good additional tool for new players and we'll be assessing how it goes as a learning point for the future!

The Achievement System is there to encourage players to make progress in the game and reward newbies for activities that contribute to their overall progression. We'll be keeping an eye on feedback to see how the tool fares, as well as what we can learn from it!

Here are the weightings for AP per activity:

Activity
Achievement Points (AP) Awarded
Total Level Increased by 1
4 AP
99 Achieved in any Skill
300 AP per 99
Quest Point Gained
10 AP
Boss Kill (General) (Repeatable)
AP varies between 7-24 depending on the Boss
Boss Kill (First)
Your first boss kill will award more AP than usual
Achievement Diary Task
  • Easy = 4 AP
  • Medium = 12 AP
  • Hard = 28 AP
  • Elite = 64 AP
Achievement Diary Tier Completion
The total points for the tier, divided by 2.

For example, the Ardougne Medium diary has 12 tasks, so you'd be awarded ((12 * 12) / 2) = 72 points for completing the tier.

You must complete previous tiers to get these bonuses.
Combat Achievement Task
  • Easy = 4 AP
  • Medium = 12 AP
  • Hard = 28 AP
  • Elite = 64 AP
  • Master = 100 AP
  • Grandmaster = 150 AP
Combat Achievement Completion - Boss
The total points for that boss, divided by 2.

For example, the Kalphite Queen has 5 tasks - 3 hard, 1 elite and 1 master, so you'd be awarded ((28 + 28 + 28 + 64 + 100) / 2) = 124 points for completing the Kalphite Queen tasks.
Combat Achievement Completion - Tier
The total points for that tier, divided by 2.

For example, the Medium tier has 41 tasks, so you'd be awarded ((41 * 12) / 2) = 246 points for completing the Medium tier.
Clue Scroll Completion
  • Beginner = 3 AP
  • Easy = 6 AP
  • Medium = 14 AP
  • Hard = 30 AP
  • Elite = 62 AP
  • Master = 130 AP

We think this covers all the bases, but if there’s an achievement you think we’re missing, please do let us know!

Achievement Points will not be featured on the HiScores for Fresh Start Worlds, but if you're playing with friends, you should absolutely use it as a chance to compare your progress!

Worlds First System

Fresh Start Worlds is designed for new players, but if you have a bit more experience, you might want to take on the challenge of achieving a World First.

Like it says on the tin, World Firsts are our way of recognising players who are the first to do something awesome – like killing a boss, or reaching 99 in a skill.

Whenever someone achieves a World First, we’ll broadcast it, so everyone can recognise your achievement with a ‘w00t’, a ‘gz’, or even a ‘nice’.

Fresh Start Worlds is about sharing the adventure, and we want to show new players just how supportive our community is!

Here's the list of World Firsts we're planning to broadcast:

Boss Kill
Diary Completion
Levels
Completionist
Pets
Items
Quests
Being the first to kill a boss.
Being the first to complete an Achievement or Combat Diary.
Being the first to hit 99 in any skill OR being the first to hit max level.
Being the first to earn a Quest Cape or Music Cape, or being the first to complete specific Collection Logs.
Being the first to gain a pet.
Being the first person to get an iconic item as a drop, including:

  • Abyssal Whip
  • Toxic Blowpipe
  • Bandos
Being the first to complete a Quest.

Are there any more broadcasts you'd like to see? Let us know and we'll add them to our radar before launch!

Bonds to Membership in Fresh Start Worlds
Fresh Start Worlds require a new account. We plan to eventually merge all Fresh Start accounts into the main game after six months, so if we allowed existing accounts to play, we wouldn’t be able to merge them back into the main game.

We’ve created a Bond-to-Voucher system which will let you gift membership from the main game over to your friend with a voucher code. To generate a code, open up the Bond Redemption menu in the main game, where you’ll see a new option: ‘Redeem a Voucher Code’.

Once generated, the voucher will be sent to the Player Inbox it was purchased on. You can then claim it for yourself or pass it along to someone else. Got a noob friend interested in Fresh Start Worlds? Why not gift them membership, so they can explore everything Gielinor has to offer?

The Player Inbox message you receive will look something like this:

Hi there, (NAME)!

Thank you for your purchase of a Membership Passcode. Your passcode is below.

You may redeem the code on one of your own RuneScape accounts, or give it to a friend for them to redeem.

To redeem the code yourself, you MUST first log into the account you’d like to receive the Membership credit. Once redeemed, the Membership will be applied to the account which is currently logged in. You can see which account is active in the top right of the code redemption screen.

(CODE)

The code can be redeemed after (TIME).

Please note that you cannot redeem Membership from the voucher in-game. You must log on to the Old School RuneScape website with the account you want Membership applied to, where you'll see the 'Redeem Code' option.

This new system has a lot of utility outside of just Fresh Start Worlds and we hope this makes gifting membership to your friends much easier!

Please note that all existing conversion fees to trade Bonds on the Grand Exchange or via other trade methods remain the same.

Opting-Out
Should you decide that Fresh Start Worlds isn’t for you, we’ve got a deal. Keep Nan out of the cage for another six months, and we’ll make sure you’re not stuck in Fresh Start Worlds!

No?

Sorry Nan, we tried.

How about this then? You can easily opt out of Fresh Start Worlds at any time using the Side Panel Interface. This action will transfer your account and all the items you’ve accrued to the main game, but watch out – this decision is IRREVERSIBLE.

Well, sort of. There is actually a three-day grace period to ensure you’ve really thought about this momentous decision. After all, you’re leaving behind thousands of other players on a mission to build a fresh world – it’s kind of a big deal!

If you still decide to leave Fresh Start Worlds after the three-day grace period, the following things will happen:
  • The account will be frozen out of the Fresh Start World HiScores.
  • The account will be transferred to the main game.
  • You will no longer be able to log into Fresh Start Worlds.

You must cancel any pending Grand Exchange transactions before opting out of Fresh Start Worlds, as you will be blocked from using it during the grace period.

If you happen to be logged in when the three-day countdown ends, you will be asked to re-log so you can complete the opt-out process.
Six Months Later...
When the event ends in six months, those Fresh Start Worlds will be no more. Erased from history, they will exist only in the memories of those who experienced this momentous event. Everyone who has been playing on Fresh Start Worlds will be seamlessly transported to the main game, as though it were all but a pleasant dream… or a nightmare, depending on how well the fresh economy has been going.

The following things will happen automatically when the event ends:
  • All accounts will be frozen on the Fresh Start Worlds HiScores.
  • All accounts will be transferred to the main game.
  • Nobody will be able to log in to Fresh Start Worlds.
  • Any pending Grand Exchange transactions on Fresh Start Worlds will be cancelled.

Players with pending G.E transactions will be required to log into a Fresh Start World once after the event has ended. This is because we can't process transactions unless you're logged into a Fresh Start World. When logging in for the last time, your transactions will be processed, you'll be logged out and you can then log in to normal worlds. This is why you may see some Fresh Start Worlds online after the end of the event - rest assured that we're not using them for anything except item processing.

By the way, when we say the transfer is ‘seamless’, we mean it! You’ll wake up in the exact same location you left your character in on Fresh Start Worlds, with all the same stuff. The only change you should notice is that there’ll be a lot more high-level players running around.

And that about wraps it up! Fresh Start Worlds launches on October 19th, and we can’t wait to see how it goes. We currently expect the end date to be Wednesday, April 19th 2023, although this may be subject to change.

Until then… stay fresh!

ToA Tweaks, Group Iron Man Changes & More! | Weekly Game Update (September 28th)

This week we’re making changes to Tombs of Amascut and Group Ironman Mode!

Tombs of Amascut Changes
We've updated how the supplies work:
  • Items can now be dropped to the ground directly from the Supplies Bag interface.
  • When withdrawing an item, the slot that was actually selected is the one that is withdrawn, instead of the one at the top of the Supplies Bag.
  • The jugs at Zebak have been given an attack delay, so you can preserve ammo by only attacking them once.

The summary board will now acknowledge any member that has left mid-raid, giving you a fresh new way to flame your salty teammates.

Fixed an issue where the Deadly Prayers Invocation was showing incorrect stats on the Summary interface for Prayer effectiveness.

The following items have now been marked as 'valuable' to stop any accidental drops:
  • Masori Crafting Kit
  • Ancient Remnant
  • Remnant of Zebak
  • Remnant of Kephri
  • Remnant of Ba-Ba
  • Remnant of Akkha
Group Ironman Changes
Next up, we've made some further changes to the deactivation settings for Ironman mode. Iron players have already been able to set a permanent flag on their account, preventing them from ever changing their status. As many of you had the choice made before the introduction of the Unranked Group Ironman mode, we are giving you another chance to change this. Please note that these choices are fully permanent and will not be subject to review by our Player Support team – so don't take this decision lightly!

Solo Iron players who are currently 'permanent' will receive a message upon logging in, stating that their permanent settings have changed to 'limited'. This means you can become an Unranked Group Ironman if you wish. However, you may still not become a main account.

Visiting the Iron Tutor in Lumbridge will allow you to choose the permanence of your Iron status – and in case it hasn't yet sunk in, you will be warned about the ramifications of this decision before you're allowed to make it.

You don’t have to make this decision immediately and can continue playing however you wish while you think it over.
Steam and Mobile Client Fixes
We’ve also been working on a variety of patches specifically for our Steam and Mobile clients:

  • Tweaked the new tooltips to make them easier to read - woohoo!
  • The shortcuts at Guardians of the Rift and south-west of the Necropolis are now highlighted by the Agility helper.
  • Redwood trees at the Farming Guild will now display their respawn timer when chopped.
  • Venom now correctly displays on the Buff Bar.
  • STEAM ONLY: Players can now complete the Stronghold of Security with either 2FA or Steam Guard enabled.
  • STEAM ONLY: Holding the shift key while on the Inventory and then switching to a different tab, letting go of shift, and then switching back to the Inventory will no longer keep the shift button active.
  • Clue steps which display a lot of text on the Clue Helper overlay will now have a scroll bar which lets you read the whole thing.
  • The Clue Helper display now correctly shows that you need Turquoise Robe Bottoms for the Easy Clue step by the Lumbridge Mill.
  • The cipher Clue where you need to talk to Eluned now correctly displays the World Map icon when looking at the Prifddinas map.
  • The spacing between lines on the Clue Helper overlay has been adjusted to shorten the gap between sections.
  • Fixed an issue where certain Quest clues weren't showing all relevant information.
  • The HP Bar will now correctly reappear when an entity is attacked at the exact same moment the previous HP Bar fades out.
  • Fixed an issue where the Herbiboar Helper was not updating correctly in certain scenarios.
Beta News
Good news, everyone! We’re keeping the Wilderness Boss Rewards Beta open for another week, as we’ve lowered the Voidwaker’s special attack cost to 50% (down from 60%) – so hop on in and test it out!

We’ve also made some plans regarding Poison Dynamite, based on your feedback. Here’s our to-do list:

  • Upgrade the Poison damage to P++ (previously P+)
  • Base damage type on player’s equipped weapon and attack style.
  • Prevent use of Poison Dynamite in the Fight Caves.
  • Prevent Dynamite from inflicting the Poison effect on 0 hits.
  • Prevent players from hitting multiple targets with Poison Dynamite, even in multi-way combat.
  • Easier targeting options were a big point in early feedback, and we have two alternatives we'd like your thoughts on:
    • Poison Dynamite will always hit a 3x3 area of attack. This also lets us update ‘fun’ weapons, making them -100 in all stats.OR
    • Poison Dynamite will become Thrown (or ‘Sticky’). The player must use the Dynamite on the NPC within a 1 tile range, with significant action delays.

One thing we will not be doing is changing the poison type to Venom. We feel this to be overpowered, and it goes against the premise of this new item.

Last bit of news on the Beta front – the Quest Speedrunning Beta has gone fantastically, and we’ll be working hard to make improvements based on your feedback before it launches.

Thank you to everyone who participated in these Betas and sent in feedback!
Other Changes
• Players using the 'Quick-board' option on Zulrah's boat will no longer have their cameras forcibly locked in place to observe the snake's spawn animation, meaning they'll be able to start fighting the snake slightly faster.
  • Craw's Bow and Viggora's Chainmace bonuses will no longer apply to Magic Damage.
  • A spammy message about pet reclamation is no longer displayed on Tutorial Island, as the players there shouldn't need it.
  • Group Iron players are no longer permitted to travel from Lumbridge to The Node whenever the grouping system becomes temporarily unavailable, as they'd then be obliged to wait in The Node until the system became available again.
  • Salve Amulets now have a Make-All dialogue for stringing them, as other amulets do.
  • Players cutting Salve Shards from the outcrops after completing Haunted Mine will now continue cutting Shards until they cancel the action, without needing to click repeatedly.
PvP Rota Changes
The PvP rota has moved to Period B:
  • 560 - (UK) - PvP World
  • 579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World
  • 561 - (Uk) - Free-to-Play PvP World
  • 580 - (US) - LMS Competitive

World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.

The PvP Arena is using 'Max/Med' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week.
