Easter Event 2025

Our egg-stra special friend, the Easter Bunny, has vanished like your GP after a bad PKing trip. The flowers aren’t blooming, the chocolate eggs aren’t rolling, and the citizens of Varrock are feeling disturbingly un-festive. Something’s wrong... Something’s eggstremely wrong!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

This year’s Easter event is a mystery filled with strange clues, stranger characters, and a journey that will take you somewhere you’ve never been before. Things kick off in Varrock, where some less-than-jubilant citizens are wondering what happened to their favourite egg-centric holiday. Something about... carrot bits? Hmm.

Follow the clues to hunt down the Easter Bunny and bring spring back on track!

Completing the event will earn you a new seasonal outfit that will certainly help you stand out in the dark. You’ll also receive Easter rewards from any previous events you’ve missed.

Permanent Deadman Tweaks

While most of Gielinor are busy hunting eggs and examining root vegetables, our fiercest warriors in Permanent Deadman Mode have been busy dying gloriously on the fields of battle! To help them out, we’ve got a fresh bunch of tweaks and fixes.
No More Quest Blocking
We’ve seen too many brave souls get stuck in group quest limbo, so Heroes' Quest and Shield of Arrav will now autocomplete for all eligible Deadman accounts, including anyone who’s made progress on them before. No more begging for a Phoenix Gang partner just to slap some gloves on!
S.T.A.S.H. Units are Live
These convenient hidey holes are now completely functional in Permanent Deadman! Build them, store clue gear in them, and save precious Inventory space like a true clue master.
Nimbleness Charm Improvements
The Nimbleness Charm now works with more Agility shortcuts that were previously snubbed due to different checks under the hood. If it didn’t work before and should’ve - it probably does now! Just keep the Charm in your Inventory and it should work… well, like a charm!
Better Breach Rewards
We’ve adjusted the drop rates for breach monsters, giving you a much higher chance to hit the unique loot table. This includes Charms, Trinkets, and those deliciously deadly Ancient Warrior weapons.
Ruby Bolts Nerfed
We’ve reinstated a fix from Deadman: Armageddon! Ruby Bolt (e) Special Attacks are now capped at 30 damage against breach monsters. That’s right, no more one-tapping your way to domination with gemstone gimmicks. Still powerful, just not 100-damage powerful.

Keep the feedback coming and the loot flowing!

Feedback Wanted: Bank UI Changes

In Poll 84, we’re asking if you’d like to deposit the contents of handy items like the Fish Barrel, Coal Bag, Seed Box, and Log Basket straight into your Bank. Very nice. Very tidy.

That functionality is in the poll, but there’s one small catch: to make this magic happen, we need to squeeze in a shiny new Deposit Container button somewhere on the Bank interface, but space is precious!

The current bank layout has four separate buttons at the bottom. Two are for Rearrange Mode (Swap/Insert), and two are for Withdraw As (Item/Note). We’re thinking we could turn those into two tidy toggles instead.

Same functions, less button clutter, and just enough room left over to squeeze in that sweet, sweet Deposit button.

Here’s how the Bank looks now:

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

And here’s our proposed update:

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Familiar functions? Still there. New button? Included. Interface clutter? Decreased. Vibes? Immaculate.

But what do you think? Is this an improvement, or do you hate it with every pixel of your being? Let us know! Your feedback will help us fine-tune this feature if it passes the poll, so speak now or forever hold your peace.

Farming & Autocast QoL Changes

PSA: We're aware of an issue affecting some players on Android devices where the game may take longer to load than normal, and may cause game not responding device notifications. We're investigating the issue as a priority.

This week’s update brings some handy quality-of-life improvements to Farming and Autocasts!

Changelog - April 9th

[expand]

Farming Improvements
  • Gardeners will no longer wander off and will instead remain conveniently stationed at their plots, confined to a 3-tile diameter, ready to assist you.
  • Leprechauns are now stationed closer to herb patches.
  • Using a tree seed on a plant pot will now continue planting similar seeds into more pots until you either run out of pots or seeds. Likewise, watering your potted seeds will continue automatically for as long as you have water and unwatered pots of the same type.
Autocast Mishaps
  • Autocast is no longer cleared when you don't have the level or runes to cast the selected spell; it will instead remain as your selected auto-cast, and once you regain the runes or level, it will begin casting again.
  • You can now select a spell to autocast regardless of its level or whether or not you have the runes available.
Poll 83: Castle Wars Tweaks
  • To reduce AFK viability and better support active Castle Wars gameplay, Plaudit Crates have been updated and are now re-enabled for purchase and opening. Coins and runes have been removed, and untradeable arrows and bolts (exclusively for use in Castle Wars) have been added.
  • The message telling you that you cannot attack a teammate in Castle Wars is now filtered.
  • The Castlewars Rune pouch will now enable free casts of Humidify.
  • Logging out and back in a game of Castle Wars will no longer magic another rune pouch into your inventory.
  • The new barricade cap restricting teams to 7 barricades outside and 10 inside the base now only applies on dedicated Castle Wars Worlds.
8 - 16-bit Music Update
  • Audio improvements: Transitioned music tracks from 8 -16-bit for improved quality.
Other Changes
  • While not many of you are using demonbane spells, there are a handful of places that we suspect people might feel this bugfix impacts them. To compensate, we're reducing the Magic defence of some NPCs
    • K'ril Tsutsaroth has had his Magic Defence reduced from 130 to 80.
    • Skotizo has had his Magic Defence reduced from 130 to 80.
    • Demonic Gorillas have had their Magic Defence reduced from 50 to 20.
    • Cerberus has had her Magic Defence reduced from 100 to 65.
  • The recently updated rune pouch menu has been tweaked to let you set a custom quantity as the left-click Store/Withdraw option for runes. Use the 'X' quantity button to customise the quantity and set it as the left-click option on your rune stacks.
  • As Ironmen can already transfer tradeable items to other characters, we've removed the restriction that stopped them from gifting bonds. They can now 'use' a bond on the recipient to offer it as a free gift, like other characters can.
  • The collection log is now in the hiscores panel in the sidebar.
  • Added new "Top-floor" and "Bottom-floor" options to the Ladder at the Grand Tree, Lighthouse, and Lumbridge Castle Staircase for faster navigation.
  • Fixed an issue where the Ancient Sceptre's bonus to Blood spell healing was being rounded down to zero, preventing the benefit from being applied. The calculation has been updated to ensure the Sceptre now provides its intended bonus.
  • The inventory icon for the Echo Ahrim's Robe top is no longer clipped, and the icon for the Slayer Ring is more centred in its space.
  • Fixed a bug where 'Withdraw 5' and 'Withdraw 10' bank options behaved incorrectly when the custom quantity for x was set to 0.
  • The 'Check' option on the Friendly Zombie Pirate now tells you how many times you've opened the locker, once you've gone through his introductory chat.
  • Fixed typos from While Guthix Sleeps and the Construction cape’s right-click teleport menu.
PvP Rota

The PvP rota has moved to Period B:
  • 560 - (UK) - PvP World
  • 319 - (US) - Bounty Hunter World
  • 579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World
  • 561 - (UK) - Free-to-Play PvP World
  • 580 - (US) - LMS Competitive

World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.

World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter has been de-activated with this rota.

The PvP Arena is using 'Max/Med' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week.

Farming QoL

We’ve been busy in the garden, making some fresh changes to improve your farming experience!

Gardeners are finally grounded! No more chasing them down - those days are over. Instead, they've been lovingly trapped within a 3-tile diameter, where they’ll remain forever in their tiny, self-made garden prison, waiting eagerly to assist you with your crops. It's like a VIP service... except the VIP is stuck in a tiny square and can't escape. Enjoy the freedom of never losing them again!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

That's not all, because the Leprechauns Have Moved In! Leprechauns are now hanging out closer to herb patches, making it quicker and easier to access that sweet, sweet storage. It's like they knew you were coming...

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Finally, planting and watering just got lazy-proofed! You can now use a tree seed on a plant pot and keep planting more similar seeds until you either run out of pots or seeds. No more intense clicking! Also, watering your potted seeds will automatically continue as long as you've got water and unwatered pots of the same type. Now you can water and plant without even thinking about it.

Autocast Mishaps

Ever been drained by that pesky bat in Inferno, gone to heal up with Blood Barrage, and landed straight into the loving embrace of a Jal-ImKot meleer, sending you straight back to square one? Or maybe you brewed down in TOB, Kodai raised high, only to majestically bonk the aggro crab at Nylo, instead of landing that crucial freeze?

Well, suffer no more! because autocast just got smarter!

Your autocast will now stick around even if you don’t have the level or runes to cast a spell. Once you regain the requirements, it’ll automatically resume casting - because nothing’s worse than panic-switching to your staff, only to find you’re set to whack instead of zap.
  • Select any spell to autocast - even if you lack the level or runes.
  • Autocast won’t be cleared if you temporarily can’t cast the spell.
  • Ran out of runes or got drained? Your selected spell will be grayed out until you meet the requirements again.

However, some things haven’t changed:
  • Autocast is still cleared when swapping weapons in the Wilderness.
  • You still can’t cast spells you don’t meet the requirements for - it just won’t wipe your selection anymore.
  • Autocast is still cleared when using the Spellbook Swap spell.

What’s in it for you?
  • Level 3 accounts can now avoid gaining combat XP by keeping autocast set without accidentally smacking something.
  • No more tragic misclicks in high-stakes fights - your spell will be ready when you are.

So go forth, cast with confidence, and never fear the accidental staff bonk again!

Poll 83: Castle Wars Tweaks
Plaudits Update
Last week, we introduced Plaudits to the Castle Wars reward shop as a way to offer meaningful rewards for participation. While the goal was to support players who genuinely enjoy the minigame, we quickly saw the unintended consequence: a spike in AFK behavior, with some players prioritising rewards over real gameplay.

We heard your concerns loud and clear and temporarily disabled the crates to reassess. This week, we’re reintroducing them - but with important changes aimed at preserving the integrity of Castle Wars while still offering fair rewards.

What’s Changed?

The revised crates now include some untradeable items that can only be used within Castle Wars matches. This includes the Castle Wars Arrows and Bolts, which have the strength of Dragon Arrows and Dragon Bolts, making them powerful tools for the minigame - but they can’t be traded or used outside of Castle Wars, meaning they won’t impact the wider game economy.

Meanwhile, the rest of the crate contents (like blighted supplies and food) remain usable and tradeable, but we’ve removed high-concern items like Runes and GP, which were previously enabling the crates to serve as a profitable AFK money-maker. These changes are intended to make the crates a lot less attractive for passive farming, and a lot more relevant for active Castle Wars players.

Updated Plaudit Loot (3 Rolls per Crate):
  • 4 noted Blighted Super Restore Potions
  • 75-105 Castle Wars Arrows (Dragon Arrow strength, untradeable, Castle Wars-only)
  • 75-105 Castle Wars Bolts (Dragon Bolt strength, untradeable, Castle Wars-only)
  • 2 Castle Wars Tickets
  • 10-15 Blighted Ice Sacks
  • 175-225 Rune Arrows
  • 100-120 Rune Javelins
  • 15-25 Blighted Mantas
  • 25-35 Blighted Anglerfish
  • 35-45 Blighted Karambwans
  • 20-30 Blighted Vengeance sacks

We know players have mixed feelings - some would prefer the crates be scrapped entirely, others want the original rewards restored. We hope this middle ground keeps the spirit of Castle Wars alive, offering relevant, balanced rewards without enabling the wrong kind of gameplay.

We’ll keep monitoring how things go, and we’re always open to feedback as we refine things further. Thanks for sticking with us while we work to make Castle Wars the fun, competitive experience it’s meant to be.

In addition, we've also made the following tweaks:
  • The message telling you that you cannot attack a teammate in Castle Wars is now filtered.
  • The Castlewars Rune pouch will now enable free casts of Humidify.
  • Logging out and back in a game of Castle Wars will no longer magic another rune pouch into your inventory.
  • The new barricade cap restricting teams to 7 barricades outside and 10 inside the base now only applies on dedicated Castle Wars Worlds.

Now back to storming castles and setting things on fire as usual!

8 - 16 Bit Music Update

We wanted to give you an update on some audio improvements we're making to Old School RuneScape.

We were thrilled by the positive response and the genuine enthusiasm you showed for the audio team's efforts in our recent 16-bit blog post. If you missed that, you can check it out here and get the full lowdown.

However, we also heard your concerns about preserving the authentic Old School feel that you know and love.

We understand completely!

Rest assured, maintaining that classic Old School RuneScape vibe is our absolute priority. We're not looking to reinvent the wheel, but rather to polish it, ensuring your auditory experience keeps pace with the game's evolution. Today, we want to dive a little deeper into the musical side of this upgrade, specifically addressing the transition from 8-bit to 16-bit music.

Recently, we've been working on transitioning our music tracks from 8-bit to a more versatile 16-bit format. You might have also noticed a very subtle layer of white noise in some of the music tracks, which this update will smooth out.
What to Expect
In most cases, the change will be minimal, or not even noticeable. The Old School feel of the music you love will remain unchanged. We're rolling out this update for music tracks first. We're holding off on sound effects for the time being, as we want to further refine and improve those before any updates are made.
Why the Change?
This is about a gentle refinement, not a dramatic overhaul. The 16-bit format allows for a cleaner, more versatile OSRS sound. This, in turn, will help us maintain audio quality and lay the important groundwork for any future audio improvements. Go ahead, take a listen, and let us know what you think:

Yama: Progress Update

Behind the scenes, we've been hard at work on bringing Yama, the Master of Pacts to life, so we thought we'd drop in and let you know where we're at! This section will assume that you're up-to-date with Yama, so if you need a refresher then make sure to check out the dedicated blog by clicking here.

The core encounter (meaning without any Contracts applied) is more or less finished, so we've invited a handful of players to test what we've got so far. If those playtests go well, we'll be able to lock in a release date and share it with you ASAP so that you can book time off work, stock up on snacks, move to a quiet place in the countryside free from distractions - whatever it is you've got to do to satisfy your PvM itch.

Naturally, we're not going to show off the fight itself here, but we'll give you an exclusive preview of the demon of the hour and his reasonably-sized throne!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

This is why you should always double-check the dimensions on your flatpack furniture...

While all of the rewards passed, we know that opinions were divided on the early concepts we showed off for the Oathplate armour, particularly the colour scheme. Below is a first-look at our in-game models for the 'default' Oathplate appearance, and the cosmetic variant unlocked by completing a Contract that makes the Yama fight considerably harder.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Here's how the default appearance looks, we took the original proposal for the more prestigious look and ran with it, but made an even cooler look for the 'flex cosmetic' variant...

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Here's what you can expect to see the best of the best rocking! It's a pretty unique colour scheme that really makes this Oathplate variant stand out, but still pairs nicely with a lot of other best-in-slot options!

Eagle-eyed readers will undoubtedly have noticed that we're still calling it Oathplate armour, despite some feedback that 'Oathplate platebody' was a bit of a mouthful and a popular suggestion for the set to be called 'Oathbreaker armour' instead. Narratively, we weren't too keen on 'Oathbreaker' because no oaths have been broken - and we wouldn't recommend looking for any loopholes with Yama either. Some players suggested using words like hauberk or cuisse for the armour pieces, but these don't really match up to the appearance since they're very specific terms. For now, we're sticking with the Oathplate helm, Oathplate chest and Oathplate legs - no 'platebody' needed because the clue's in the name!

Beyond Yama itself, we've made great progress on the Chasm of Fire skilling activities! Take a look...

Check out the video here!

The video above should give you a look at what you'll find yourself doing if you're looking to earn some GP by skilling or make a piece of Oathplate armour for yourself using armour shards. One player can be seen mining some Infernal shale at a large vein, this is a super laid-back approach that's very low intensity but doesn't yield a high output. Next to them, you can see somebody mining considerably more actively and wiping the sweat from their brow, but there's not a pestle and mortar in sight - we'll leave you to speculate on this one for now, just know that you've got a variety of options for gathering up your Infernal shale.

In the background you can see another player who's all done with mining and starting to smith their Oathplate bars, timing their actions perfectly to smelt and quench at lightning speed. Not shown here is the final step: smithing! While we didn't have enough hands to show it off here, you'll have a neat timing-based Smithing activity to speed up your time on the anvil.

All-in-all, the skilling activities give you a bunch of options for intensity that let you get out what you put in and while they're not exactly 'universal' methods, we think they're a lot of fun and hope you'll enjoy them for yourself on Yama's release, even if you're not looking to take on the formidable demon himself!

That's all we've got to share for now, we're excited to see how our playtesters do this week and to get a release date in front of you as soon as possible, so keep an eye out!

Rules of RuneScape Wording Update

This one's not strictly related to this week's Game Update, but we wanted to make sure you were in the loop!

We've updated the wording on our Rules of RuneScape page so that it matches up with our T&Cs, specifically to the wording around Real World Trading. The following paragraph has been updated:

"Real World trading (RWT) means buying or selling in the real world, for real money or in exchange for anything of value, things that relate to Jagex accounts."

In plain terms, this adjustment is to make clear in the rules (though it was already clear in the T&Cs) that RWT does not need to involve real money and pertains to 'anything of value'. This should make it clearer that performing out-of-game services like using your Twitch channel or Discord server to advertise other Twitch channels or Discord servers in exchange for GP is categorically RWT, as is paying for these services in this manner.

Other Changes

Before we get into the usual bullet point list, we've got one change this week that we'd like to expand on a little.

While playtesting Yama internally, we noticed some unusually high accuracy rolls with Demonbane spells. Turns out that since release, the Purging Staff + Demonbane spells have been more accurate than intended. With this week's game update, we're fixing a bug where Demonbane spells were multiplying accuracy incorrectly with the bonuses from Purging Staff and Mark of Darkness.

While not many of you are using demonbane spells, there are a handful of places that we suspect people might feel this bugfix impacts them. To compensate, we're reducing the Magic defence of some NPCs - we suspect that with these changes, you likely won't notice any difference, but we'll be keeping an eye out for feedback! Keep in mind that Tormented Demons aren't really relevant here owing to their shield mechanic and granting 100% accuracy, so if you're wondering why they're not on the list then you've got your answer.

Now, bring on the miscellaneous changes!

Nobody told me that Old School RuneScape was home to a perfect time capsule of mid 2000s cybersecurity

Despite being someone who had never touched RuneScape outside of a slightly dodgy interaction in the game as a child, I somehow found myself right in the middle of RuneFest back in March. It is slightly strange infiltrating a convention for a community you've absolutely no stake in, but if Jagex's master plan was to get me to dabble in its MMO, it worked: I came home from the convention, and downloaded Old School RuneScape on my phone and PC...

Poll 83: Castle Wars Update

Poll 83 Castle Wars changes have arrived!

Changelog - April 3rd

[expand]

Poll 83: Castle Wars Update

Dedicated Castle Wars world changes:
  • You can now only enter through the Guthix (green) portal to ensure more balanced teams.
  • Players will now earn 1 additional ticket for participating in a game.
  • On members worlds, players are now granted Plaudits alongside tickets. These Plaudits can be used to purchase Castle Wars supply crates via Lanthus.

All Castle Wars world changes:
  • The Castlewars brew now also applies the effects of a Stamina Potion and Super restore when consumed. Note: The reduction in run energy depletion associated with Stamina potions won't occur on F2P worlds.
  • Helmets can now be worn in Castle Wars, enabling the use of armour set effects.
  • Bandages now scale with your Hitpoints level and can overheal, similar to Anglerfish.
  • Castle Wars bracelets can now be handed to Lanthus to store charges, automatically consuming one per game.
  • You can now use blighted food and cast Vengeance with blighted sacks while in the Castle Wars lobby.
  • Players now receive a Rune Pouch when entering Castle Wars, providing unlimited runes for select spells. Note, these spells no longer grant casting XP when the pouch is used, but still award XP based on damage dealt. To earn full Magic XP, you will need to drop the pouch and bring your own runes.
  • A new barricade cap on dedicated Castle Wars worlds restricts teams to 7 barricades outside and 10 inside the base.
  • Placed barricades now have a coloured rope to indicate what team they belong to.
  • Barricades can now be placed in front of the respawn barriers.
  • A new element has been added to the Castle Wars Heads-Up Display, showing the number of barricades your team has placed both inside and outside your base.
  • Small walls have been added to the stairs and ladder at the respawn point, allowing players to range over them and create more strategic barricade placements.
  • On non-Castle Wars worlds, players within Castle Wars will be able to shove targets back-to-back using the Dragon Spear and Zamorakian Hasta special attacks. On Castle Wars Worlds, players will still be unable to perform consecutive shoves on the same target.
  • There is now a table with buckets in the supply room where the bucket spawn used to be.
  • Fixed a bug where the player's overhead yellow arrow would not disappear after depositing the flag.
Poll 83: Rune Pouch Changes
  • The Rune Pouch UI has been upgraded to include new 1, 5, X, and "All" options for easier Rune withdrawals and deposits.
Other Changes
  • Fixed a bug causing the Moons of Peril to stop functioning if killed with Sunfire damage.
  • Fixed a bug where the auto-weed setting was incorrectly appearing off when it was on, and vice-versa.
  • You can no longer skip one of the shortcut obstacles in the Fremennik Slayer caves by interacting with a different obstacle.
  • An optional warning has now been added when 'using' items on an Explorer's Ring to alch them. The warning can be disabled via the game's main Settings menu.
  • Adjusted the Chaos Fanatic's AoE attack so it only affects the last player who engaged in combat.
  • Removed unintended range blocking from the chaos rift and a fallen tree in the Wilderness to improve consistency as they visually look like you should be able to fire projectiles over them, but previously couldn't.
  • Selecting the "Experienced" option in the dialogue should set "Casting Alchemy Spells on Untradeable items always triggers a warning" to enabled and "Minimum item value needed for Alchemy spells warning" to 150k.

Poll 83: Castle Wars Update
Castle Wars Brews
Raise your vials, because Castlewars brews just got a double shot of power! Now, when you down a brew, you'll not only get the usual combat kick, but also the effects of a Stamina Potion and Super Restore too! That means more energy to sprint into battle and a quicker recovery to keep you in the fight.
Helmets On
Hood holding you back? No more! Players can now wear helmets in Castle Wars, unlocking all those coveted armour set effects – whether you're sporting Torva or rocking that Void, now you can look sharp and fight even sharper!
Bandages That Mean Business
No more half-hearted healing! Bandages in Castle Wars now scale with your Hitpoints level and can overheal, just like Anglerfish. That extra bit of health could be the difference between a quick retreat and a triumphant comeback. Slap on those bandages and charge back to the fray with confidence!
Portal Changes
If you love the color green, then get ready to celebrate because Guthix is taking over! Castle Wars has always been a blast, but those one-sided games? Not so much. We’ve borrowed a little magic from Soul Wars to bring back the balance.

Now, on dedicated Castle Wars worlds, you’ll be entering only through the Guthix portal, ensuring that teams are more evenly matched. No more Saradomin and Zamorak portals causing team stacking! We’re putting a stop to those unfair sides once and for all.

Prefer your games the old way? No worries! If you're playing on a regular world, you can still waltz through any portal and pick your side. No green pressure there.

We hope these changes will make every match more competitive, more exciting, and more fun. So grab your Ancients, rally your team, and get ready to battle - this time, it’s going to be a fair fight!
Castlewars Bracelets
Bracelets in Castle Wars - they're great for those sweet buffs, but let's face it, they often get tossed aside at the start of the game. Well, worry no more - Lanthas has got your back and is here to save the day (and your bracelets)!

With this update, you can now store bracelet charges with Lanthas, keeping them safe for future battles without the hassle. You can even store noted versions! At the start of each game, one charge will automatically be used, and if you're not feeling it, this feature can be toggled on or off.

Lanthas won’t just take your bracelets and run, though - a confirmation prompt ensures you don’t accidentally deposit more than intended. If you’ve got a handful of bracelets, the Deposit-X option lets you store multiple at once.
Castle Wars Rune Pouch Update
Ready to cast spells without the headache of remembering your runes? Introducing the Rune Pouch to Castle Wars!

When you jump into a Castle Wars game, you’ll be handed a temporary Rune Pouch loaded with all the runes you need to cast your favorite spells. Forget about worrying if you packed the right runes - just hop in and start casting! Here’s the catch though: This pouch won’t earn you any cast XP for spellcasting, but you will still get XP for dealing damage! To earn full Magic XP, you will need to drop the pouch and bring your own runes.

Dropped your pouch or accidentally lost it in the heat of battle? No worries! You can grab another one from the table in your team’s spawn area. For those who prefer their own runes, just ditch the Rune Pouch, and you’ll be back to casting with full XP rewards. If you’ve got both personal runes and the pouch, don’t sweat it – the pouch will take priority when casting, so you won’t end up wasting your personal stash.

What Spells Can Be Used?

The Rune Pouch opens up a world of combat and utility spells across the Standard, Ancient, Lunar, and Arceuus spellbooks. Here’s a breakdown of the spells you can cast, depending on your chosen spellbook:
  • Standard Spells: Wind Strike, Bind, Snare, Entangle, Saradomin Strike, Claws of Guthix, Flames of Zamorak, and more.
  • Ancient Magicks: Blood Barrage, Ice Barrage, Smoke Burst, and other PvP-relevant spells.
  • Lunar Spells: Vengeance, Spellbook Swap, and Energy Transfer.
  • Arceuus Spells: Ghostly Grasp, Vile Vigour, and Ward of Arceuus.

Also to note:
  • Spells requiring a staff (e.g., Saradomin Strike, Claws of Guthix) will still require the appropriate staff to cast.
  • Non-PvP utility spells like High Alchemy and Enchanting remain restricted.

We hope this change lets you dive into Castle Wars without the hassle of packing your own runes, so you can get straight to the action, while still respecting the grind and integrity of your standard magic training methods.
More Tickets, More Loot!
Who doesn’t love a little extra loot? On dedicated Castle Wars worlds, we're boosting your rewards with an additional ticket just for participating. Here’s the new, shiny reward structure:

Dedicated Castle Wars worlds:
  • No points draw → 2 tickets each
  • Draw with points → 3 tickets each
  • Win (both teams scored points) → 3 for winners, 2 for losers
  • Win (no lost flags) → 4 for winners, 2 for losers

Non-Castle Wars worlds:
  • No points draw → 1 ticket each
  • Draw with points → 2 tickets each
  • Win (both teams scored points) → 2 for winners, 1 for losers
  • Win (no lost flags) → 3 for winners, 1 for losers

On dedicated Castle Wars worlds, members will now earn Plaudits alongside tickets. These Plaudits can be exchanged with Lanthus for Castle Wars supply crates. Lanthus's store has been revamped with a sleek new interface, but don't worry - the classic rewards are still available at their original prices.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Now, on members worlds, you can also trade a Plaudit for a supply crate. This crate requires two additional inventory spaces to open and contains:
  • Blighted potions and food
  • A mixture of Blood, Death, Soul, and Nature runes
  • Rune arrows and Javelins
  • Lovely Money!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Love a Barricade tactic? We've also made the following tweaks:
  • A new barricade cap on dedicated Castle Wars worlds restricts teams to 7 barricades outside and 10 inside the base.
  • Placed barricades now have a coloured rope to indicate what team they belong to
  • Barricades can now be placed in front of the respawn barriers.
  • A new element has been added to the Castle Wars Heads-Up Display, showing the number of barricades your team has placed both inside and outside your base.

We've also made the following changes:
  • Small walls have been added to the stairs and ladder at the respawn point, allowing players to range over them and create more strategic barricade placements.
  • On non-Castle Wars worlds, players within Castle Wars will be able to shove targets back-to-back using the Dragon Spear and Zamorakian Hasta special attacks. In the Wilderness and on dedicated Castle Wars worlds, players will still be unable to perform consecutive shoves on the same target.
  • There is now a table with buckets in the supply room where the bucket spawn used to be.
  • Fixed a bug where the player's overhead yellow arrow would not disappear after depositing the flag.

Rune Pouch Changes

Say goodbye to Rune management headaches! The Rune Pouch UI just got a nice little QoL upgrade with new 1, 5, X, and "All" options for withdrawing and depositing Runes, making swapping them out easier than ever.

Selecting "All" will set it as the default left-click for both actions - so no more right-clicking and hunting for that one pesky option! Plus, your last selection is saved even after logging out, so you won’t have to set it again every time you play.

Poll 83 QoL Changes

This week, we’re rolling out some of the QoL Poll 83 changes you’ve been waiting for - with even more coming next week! Below is a rundown of the latest updates we've implemented, many of which were inspired by your feedback. So, grab a cuppa and let's dive in!
Slaying Crabs
Shellfish enthusiasts get ready - our community’s favourite low-effort combat training method is now part of Slayer tasks! That’s right, the crab has scuttled its way onto the task lists for Mazchna, Vannaka, and Chaeldar. These tough-shelled training partners have long been a go-to for efficient combat experience, and this update should help newer players discover their benefits too.

If you receive a Crabs task, you can take on any of the following:
  • Ammonite Crabs: Located on Fossil Island and within the Wyvern Cave.
  • Frost Crabs: Found amidst the Ruins of Tapoyauik.
  • Rock Crabs: Reside north of Rellekka, on Waterbirth Island, west of Mount Quidamortem, inside the Waterbirth Island Dungeon, and within the Brine Rat Cavern.
  • Sand Crabs: Can be encountered on the Isle of Souls, Crabclaw Isle, east of the Hosidius Vinery, south of the Colossal Wyrm Agility Course, and along the coast south of the Fortis Coliseum.
  • Swamp Crabs: Dwell in the swamp north of Darkmeyer and to the east of Slepe.
Slayer Cape Perk at Konar
Your Slayer Cape has had a bit of a tune-up. Now, when its perk is triggered at Konar, it will reassign the task within the same area by considering the exact location of your current assignment. No more rerolls that leave you scratching your head – you’ll get the same monster and same location to keep that Slaying momentum going!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Explorer’s Ring Alchemy
Who has time to navigate clunky dialogue boxes mid-battle? Not you! The Explorer’s Ring now lets you cast Alchemy simply by using items on it. This little tweak means you can transform your loot in a flash, freeing up inventory space for more treasures.
Farming Contracts
We all know Guildmaster Jane loves a good chat - but sometimes, you just want to get back to farming! That’s why we’ve added a new dialogue option that lets you grab another contract of the same tier instantly after finishing one. Less menu navigation, more time planting - your green thumb will thank you!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Fairy Rings on the Map
If you can’t see the image above, click here!

Ever forgotten a fairy ring code mid-route? We’ve all been there. Now, when you mouse over any fairy ring you’ve unlocked on the world map, its code will pop up. Neat!
Tithe Farm Reward – Seed Packs!
Your efforts at Tithe Farm just got a little sweeter! The Tithe Farm shop has been upgraded to use the new shop interface - don’t worry, you can still grab all the same rewards as before. Plus, we’ve added a brand-new seed pack reward, available for purchase with Tithe Points! This isn’t just any seed pack; it’s equivalent to a Tier 3 Farming Guild contract reward, with a dash of chance at a White Lily Seed.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Personalised Settings for New Accounts
New to Gielinor? No problem! When you step onto Tutorial Island, you’ll be asked if you’re a Beginner, Returning, or Experienced player. Based on your answer, your settings will automatically adjust to suit your style:
  • Beginners: Enjoy a fresh guide interface with enhanced skill descriptions – say goodbye to overwhelming menus and hello to easy learning!
  • Returning Players: Your tried-and-true settings remain just as you left them, ready for another round of adventure.
  • Experienced Players enjoy optimised defaults, such as:
    • Roof hiding for a clearer view
    • Shift-click to drop items
    • Refined attack options (right-click on players, left-click on NPCs),
    • Make-X for darts and bolts disabled
    • Collection log new addition popup and notification enabled
    • Enabled precise timing
    • PK Skull Prevention
    • Auto-equip worn items from gravestones
    • Rune-picking behaviour
    • Drop item warning disabled
    • Casting Alchemy Spells on Untradeable items warning disabled
    • The minimum item value needed for Alchemy spells warning is set to 0
    • All "Plank make X confirmation" options disabled
    • Accept Aid is disabled

This change cuts down the time spent tweaking settings, letting you jump straight into your adventures.
Shades of Morton chests
We’ve given Shades of Morton’s chests a makeover – now sporting clearer top markings so you can easily spot those secret loot stashes. This upgrade is especially handy for mobile players who know that spotting a chest shouldn’t feel like a scavenger hunt!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Prayer Tooltips
Ever wondered how much juice your prayers are really draining? Well, wonder no more! Prayer tooltips now display the base drain rates for all prayers, giving you that extra bit of insight during those heated battles.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Skill Guide Summaries
Finally, we’ve improved our skill guides with a brand new tab for each skill. These summaries break down what each skill does and the benefits of levelling them up. Whether you’re a battle-hardened veteran or just starting out, this extra clarity will help you plan your path to glory.

Player Support Update

Back in December, we shared a Player Support Survey: 'Help Shape the Future' to better understand what areas of our support offering you want to see improved. Your feedback was clear, with 89% of you saying you'd value receiving confirmation when your cheating reports lead to action.

We've got good news! We've delivered the first step of this improvement ahead of schedule! Rather than waiting until our full Player Support Improvements Roadmap reveal next month, we decided there's no reason to delay something that’s ready today.

From today onwards, whenever your macroing (botting) report has been reviewed and actioned, you'll receive an inbox message directly in your Message Centre. This is an initial rollout for macroing reports, and we'll be closely monitoring feedback as we look to expand this system to cover additional types of cheating reports in future.

This improvement is part of our ongoing commitment to making the world of Gielinor fairer, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone.

If you missed the recent Q&A with Mod North, you'll be pleased to know there’s even more to come! We’ll be sharing the full Player Support Improvements Roadmap in April, detailing further upgrades to your support experience across 2025.

Got questions? We’ve put together an FAQ here!

More Emote Looping!

Hold onto your Sleeping caps, adventurers - your favourite emotes are now on an endless loop! We’ve added 45 looping emote sequences to ensure every move you make is the envy of Gielinor. If you’re sporting Treasure Trails gear like the Flared Trousers, Sleeping Cap, Powdered Wig, or Pantaloons, your enhanced emotes now loop with extra swagger - it’s your very own runway moment!
