Mobile TLI Beta
Yesterday, we released a blog with details on the long-awaited update for the new Mobile UI, plus info on the upcoming Beta! The team have been hard at work delivering the newest experience for Mobile with your suggestions and feedback in mind. Read all about it here!

A new Beta begins on Thursday, June 13th, where you’ll get to experience all the improvements from the original and plenty of new features too! The Beta will be open for around three days, so you’ll have plenty of time to explore over the weekend.

For more insight into the enhanced features and customisability we’re offering this time around, check out last year’s Mobile UI Rework - Overview and Open Beta newspost.

Here are the main changes you’ll see this time:
  • Loadouts for hotkeys
  • Side-stones returning to the left (via an option, which is off by default)
  • NPC highlights and Edit Ground items hotkeys added
  • Realignment of the visual elements to be aligned and tidier
  • Chat filters button removed and moved to a long tap option

We’ll be keeping a close eye on discussion, particularly in the OSRS Mobile channel of the Official Old School Discord. The survey opens tomorrow, so you can share your feedback as you experience the Beta for yourself. You can find a link to the survey in the newspost.
Pride 2024
We want to say a huge thank you to the players who joined our in-game Pride march last week! So many of you turned out in fabulous fashionscape to celebrate identity and individuality. Our J-Mods had so much fun leading you through the route across multiple worlds – and despite a couple of wizard incidents, most of us remembered where to go!

A big congratulations to the five players who snagged a Pride T-Shirt during the livestream giveaways. If you didn’t manage to get your hands on one, don’t worry – they’re still available in the Official Merch Store until July 3rd.

Don’t forget, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts goes to charity! We’re partnering with AKT, a national charity that specialises in working with young LGBTQIA+ people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or living in hostile environments.

Donations will be based on all revenue received by the store from sales of the tees, minus shipping and credit card fees, cost of the garment and printing, and 5% to cover admin and fulfilment costs.

  • Removed the Magic Strength bonus from the Blood Moon Tassets, as this wasn’t part of the intended design.
  • Fixed a Poison Dynamite bug which caused players to hit 0 even after passing their Accuracy roll.
  • Mining Gloves now work correctly in Miscellania, so you’ll get those extra attempts on the same rock!
  • The Agility Arena Store agreed that selling Toadflax and Snapdragon unnoted was a little inconvenient, so these useful herbs will now come noted. Phew!
  • The crane repairs at Piscarilius can now be done with Oak, Teak or Mahogany Planks as well as the standard variety. You will however need to use three of the same type of Planks to make repairs.

Pride Event 2024

Pride has returned to Old School RuneScape, bringing with it a heartwarming event to enjoy. These events are our way of supporting our LGBTQIA+ players and the wider community – so wear your colours with pride as you dive in to our latest event!

Your journey begins north of Falador, where you’ll find Kit Breaker and a frankly unworkable amount of luggage. Kit has big dreams of becoming a white knight, but they need your help to get there. This year, you’ll have four whole weeks to help him discover their true calling and embrace what makes him special.

Along with the fuzzy feelings of having helped someone in need, you’ll also be rewarded with a colourful new Cape and a snazzy Pride Crown Shirt. Like the other Pride rewards, you can customise them with the colours of several different Pride flags – and of course, they match the rewards from previous years!

If you missed out on any of the rewards from previous years, don’t panic! As with any Old School RuneScape event, you can claim your rainbow goodies from Diango in Draynor or from Gilbert west of Varrock.

Project Rebalance Changes and Fixes

Last week we made a number of significant changes including the introduction of Elemental Weaknesses, split-up Ranged Defence types and a number of item-specific rebalances. All things considered, we're extremely happy with how the changes landed!

We still plan to pay careful attention to balancing over the coming months so we can see the full picture, rather than making knee-jerk changes while the system is still settling. However, we do have a handful of small fixes for bugs introduced in last week’s update.

We’ll rip the bandage off early – Flames of Zamorak no longer counts as a Fire spell. Unbeknownst to us, this error has been in the game for about seven years, and we simply overlooked it when it came to Project Rebalance. We’re open to readjusting this designation in future, but we’ll be taking a more measured approach.

Over to the Fortis Colosseum now, where the melee Fremennik warbander has been taking two hits to kill instead of one – a noticeable difficulty increase. To offset this, we’re reduced his HP from 50 to 48 so you can now one-shot him in peace.

The Elder Maul saw quite a resurgence last week, having displaced the Dragon Warhammer as the best-in-slot for Defence reduction. Sadly, this mighty weapon just didn’t stack up against the humble utility of the, er, regular Hammer. As of this week, you’ll be able to use the Elder Maul to ring the gong outside the Bandosian quarter of the God Wars Dungeon or to build and upgrade the chest in Chambers of Xeric. We’re not sure how you’ll manage that with a hammer whose handle is the size of your entire body, but we expect you’ll do it with extreme caution!

In our last change before the usual bunch of smaller fixes, Salarin the Twisted will now respect players’ Magic level. The inner workings of this NPC are a mystery even to us, but in short, he’ll now treat your Strike spells as Bolt spells, which means Wind Strike should now have the same Max Hit as your highest unlocked Bolt spell against this dastardly druid. Salarin has refused to apologise, which we suppose is our fault for making him so twisted in the first place.

Finally, some hotfixes and smaller changes:
  • Removed Water weakness from the revenant pyrefiend, since revenants aren’t supposed to inherit their pre-ghost weaknesses!
  • Added a 100% Fire weakness to Hespori.
  • Added Water weakness to superior wyrms and wyrmlings, to match their regular-sized counterparts.
  • Increased the Fire weakness of spiritual creatures in Nex’s prison from 100% to 200%.
  • HOTFIX: The Tome of Fire now calculates damage correctly during games of Last Man Standing.
  • HOTFIX: The Soulreaper Axe no longer periodically suffers from a lower Max Hit.

Deadman: All-Stars

A couple of weeks ago, we gave all of you a first look at 2024's Deadman: Armageddon. Since then, we've polled a number of main game cosmetic rewards and all of them will be making their way to the game on August 3rd!

Behind the scenes, snakey Solo Mission approached us with a pitch we couldn’t refuse, and it’s guaranteed to put you in the Deadman mood.

Deadman: All-Stars pits 30 of your favourite creators together in a 5v5v5v5v5v5 (that's six teams of five, in case you weren't counting) week-long battle to the death. Team captains Odablock, Solo Mission, Dino, Torvesta, B0aty and Faux will draft four players from a roster of PvP superstars, including A Cold One, Alfie, Coxie, DitterBitter, Donator, Eliop14, Gunschilli, Jcw, Mazhaw, Mika, MMORPG, Mr. Mammal, Muts, Pip, Port Khazard, Purpp, Raikesy, Rhys, Roidie, Sick Nerd, Skiddler, Skill Specs, V the Victim and Westham. From Friday, June 14th to Saturday, June 22nd, they’ll work to build up their gear and give their team the best odds in a first-of-its-kind Finale format.

The Finale will be streamed live on our Twitch channel on Saturday, June 22nd. The twist? Teams will choose an order to send their members out in and fight 1 vs. 1, with the previous bout's winner remaining in the ring to take on their next opponent with whatever supplies they have left over.

Deadman: All-stars is a one-of-a-kind event you won’t want to miss, but don’t take our word for it: check out the video below (or click here) to hear all about it from the Serpent King, Solo Mission himself!

Other Changes

As per usual, it's time to round off this week with some smaller changes!
  • The Inventory icon for the Gilded Spear now matches the Worn Items model.
  • The Collection Log entry for Scorpia now lists the Dragon 2-handed Sword, since she's able to drop them.
  • The animation for adding tips to Dragon Bolts no longer stalls your movement.
  • The resting soldier atop the Lizardman Canyon can now tell you your Lizardman killcount without you having to descend into the canyon.

Project Rebalance: Combat Changes | May 29th

We’re back from Bank Holiday with a bumper newspost filled with Combat improvements from Project Rebalance!

Project Rebalance: Combat Changes

You know all about Project Rebalance by now, so we shan’t repeat ourselves. If you’d like to catch up, you can check out the top-level NPC Defence Changes and Other Combat/Item Adjustment blogs, the dedicated Q&A, or this video which summarises the Defence changes.

Just like our last Project Rebalance update, today’s newspost covers a lot of ground and highlights some pretty big alterations to the status quo. With that in mind, we want to reiterate that we love Old School’s combat system exactly as it is. The aim of these changes is not to fundamentally change Combat, but to further improve the parts of the system which make it so satisfying to play. These changes open up new space for rewards that don’t contribute to bloat and powercreep, while leaning into the ‘right tool for the job’ element that makes getting gear upgrades feel like progress.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll no doubt find small tweaks we can make to ensure Combat is running smoothly. While we’ve run betas and worked with the community to make sure we’re on the right track, no amount of testing can compare to thousands of you getting stuck in and letting us know how these changes actually feel. If something doesn’t seem right, you can let us know, and we’ll do our best to sort it out – even if that means rolling changes back.

If this sounds a bit scary, don’t panic! Most of these changes won’t impact current gameplay at all, and simply pave the way for future activities, bosses and rewards. All your existing gear setups will still work just fine, although you may want to make one or two adjustments to squeeze a little extra power out of your equipment.

If that sounds exciting, keep reading to learn more!

NPC Defence Changes

This video guide will tell you all you need to know about the two primary components of this segment: Elemental Weaknesses and split Ranged Defence types. Have a watch – we’ll wait.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdwTV89Ykfo

If this video doesn’t load on your browser, click here to watch!

Time to put your popcorn down and learn more about Elemental Weaknesses!
Elemental Weaknesses
Elemental Weaknesses have always been present in a complex, roundabout way. Perhaps the most well-known example is the Ice Demon's weakness to Fire spells. These changes standardise the existing system, roll it out to more NPCs, and make it more readily accessible in-game via Monster Examine.

In short, for every point of Elemental Weakness an NPC has, spells of that element will gain +1% Accuracy and +1% Damage. For example, if you cast Fire Surge on an NPC who’s got a 50% Fire Weakness, you’ll gain 50% bonus Accuracy and Damage.

When you factor in your base Magic Damage, the formula looks like this:

Base Damage x (Magic Damage % + Elemental Weakness %)

This additive approach means elemental spells receive bigger buffs in middling setups, but don’t become overpowered in setups offering high Magic Damage boosts.

This gives the good ol’ Standard Spellbook more of a foothold in combat progression, fleshing out options for players throughout their Magic journey without displacing properly optimised setups.

A monster’s Elemental Weakness will be clearly visible in the ‘Other Attributes’ tab of Monster Examine. Alternatively, you can check out the OSRS Wiki or this handy spreadsheet with a granular and detailed list of changes.

For convenience, here’s a big list of the enemies impacted by this change:

Air Weakness
  • The Barrows Brothers (Ahrim, Dharok, Karil, Guthan, Torag, Verac)
  • Aviansies (including Kree'arra and his minions)
  • Ghosts
  • Skeletons

Water Weakness
  • Chromatic Dragons (Green, Blue, Red and Black dragons, including their 'Baby' and 'Brutal' variants)
    • This includes the King Black Dragon
  • Lava Dragons
  • A variety of demons, owing to their origins from a fiery, faraway land
    • Demonic Gorillas
    • Greater Demons
    • Hellhounds (including Cerberus)
    • K'ril Tsutsaroth and his minions
    • Lesser Demons
  • Pyrefiends
  • Fire Giants
  • Giant Mole
  • Drakes

Earth Weakness
  • The following NPCs have been given an Elemental Weakness to Earth spells:
    • Metal Dragons (Bronze, Iron, Steel, Mithril, Adamant and Rune)
    • Waterfiends
    • Wyrms

Fire Weakness
  • Giant Spiders
  • Near enough anything whose name begins with 'Ice', including:
    • Ice Trolls
    • Ice Demon
    • Ice Giants
    • Icefiends
    • Ice Warriors
  • Moss Giants
  • Mountain Trolls
  • Scarab Swarms
  • Scarab Mages
  • Vespula
  • Abyssal Portal
  • The Nightmare’s Totems
    • Keep in mind that these also take double damage from Magic attacks generally, so you can expect to see some very high hitsplats on these.
  • Kephri and her Arcane, Soldier and Spitting Scarabs
  • Zulrah

We’ve kept this list relatively tight so it doesn’t feel like every NPC in the game has changed overnight. While we’re not opposed to adding more NPCs to the list, we’re keen to let the dust settle and see how these changes impact the game before making further changes. Don’t worry – we won’t be drip-feeding them week by week, either. As much as we love writing the weekly newsposts, we know you don’t want to be constantly checking them for minor balancing changes!
Elemental Spell Scaling
Any wizard knows that Fire is stronger than Air – which rather throws a spanner in the works when it comes to making Elemental Weaknesses feel impactful.

For this reason, your max hit with elemental spells (Strike, Bolt, Blast, Wave, and Surge) will now scale to the highest level spell you have unlocked.

For example, a player with Level 5 Magic has a max hit of 4 for both Wind Strike and Water Strike, since Water Strike is the highest tier of spell they have unlocked. If that same player reaches the lofty heights of Level 13 Magic, then all their elemental Strike spells will have a max hit of 8, since the highest level spell they’ve unlocked is now Fire Strike.

Note that no spells hit higher than their tier’s max hit – if you have Level 99 Magic, your Fire Strike will still have a max hit of 8.

If you’re wondering how this affects the Tomes of Fire and Water, keep scrolling – we have more information about that later in the blog.

For now though, let’s take a look at the other side of the combat triangle...
Ranged Defence Types
Ranged Defence for NPCs is being split into three categories: Light, Standard, and Heavy. These are based on the type of ammunition used, as follows:
  • Heavy: Bolts, Javelins.
  • Standard: Arrows (this includes the Bow of Faerdhinen and Crystal Bow, magical arrows are still arrows...)
  • Light: Darts, Knives, other thrown weaponry like Thrownaxes or Toktz-xil-ul.

This change won’t mean significant shifts in gameplay today, but it lets us target NPCs towards a specific Ranged style in future, and make cool new rewards to match. Imagine an enchanted bow that fires Light arrows, or a Ballista that’s actually worth shooting at something with.

The overwhelming majority of existing NPCs, therefore, aren’t seeing any adjustments. For a detailed list of the changes we are making, check out this spreadsheet.

Alternatively, here’s a top-level summary of the NPCs affected:
  • Dragons have had their Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
    • This applies to metallic and chromatic dragons, including 'baby' and 'brutal' variants, as well as the King Black Dragon and Lava Dragons.
  • Commander Zilyana has had her Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
  • Corporeal Beast has had its Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
  • Gargoyles have had their Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
  • Lizardmen have had their Ranged - Light weakness reduced.
  • Nex has had her Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
  • Vasa Nistirio has had his Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
  • Vespula has had her Ranged - Light weakness reduced.
  • Vespula's Abyssal Portal has had its Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
  • Skeletal Mystics have had their Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
  • Basilisk Knights have haid their Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
  • Ba-Ba has had her Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
  • The Leviathan has had its Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.

Short term these changes mostly improve the standing of Crossbows in places where they’ve fallen behind the Bow of Faerdhinen or Twisted Bow. Again, the real benefit of these changes will be more flexibility when designing future updates – so keep your eyes peeled, and your arrows at the ready!

On top of the above set of changes, we've made a handful of minor adjustments to existing Melee defences on NPCs to better accentuate their weaknesses:
  • Dragons across the board (with the exception of Vorkath) have had their Stab defence reduced. This includes Drakes and Wyrms, who aren't dragons but are draconic.
  • Gargoyles have had their Crush defence reduced, and their Stab and Slash defences increased.
  • Lizardmen (including Brutes and Shamans) have had their Stab defence reduced. If you'd like to subject yourself to meleeing them, bring something pokey!
  • Vasa Nistirio has had his Crush defence reduced.
  • Skeletal Mystics have had their Crush defence reduced.
  • Basilisk Knights have had their Crush defence reduced.
  • Duke Sucellus has had his Slash defence reduced.

Item Rebalances

This section deals with changes to items in order to spread progression out and bring certain pieces of gear up to par. You can read all about our reasoning in this blog.
Magic Damage Redistribution
After a lot of back and forth, we're satisfied that this set of changes successfully spread out Magic progression and make gear upgrades feel more impactful.

Keep in mind that 'set pieces' for Robes means the Helmet, Body and Legs slot items. Now, here are the changes!
  • Occult Necklace: Magic damage reduced from 10% to 5%.
  • Ancestral Robes set pieces: Magic damage per piece increased from 2% to 3%.
  • Virtus Robes set pieces: Magic damage per piece increased from 1% to 2%.
  • The following items have had their Magic damage per piece increased from 0 to 1%:
    • Infinity Robes.
    • Dagon'hai Robes.
    • 3rd Age Mage Armour.
    • Ahrim's Robes.
    • Blue Moon Armour.
    • Elder Chaos Druid Robes.
    • Bloodbark Armour.
  • Augury: Magic damage while active increased from 0 to 4%.
    • Note: Tumeken's Shadow doesn't multiply accuracy or damage bonuses gained from Prayers, so this would remain a 4% increase rather than 12% when using the Shadow.
  • Mystic Might: Magic damage while active increased from 0 to 2%.
  • Mystic Lore: Magic damage while active increased from 0 to 1%.
  • Eternal Boots: Magic damage increased from 0 to 1%.
  • Mage's Book: Magic damage increased from 0 to 2%.
  • Ancient Wyvern Shield: Magic damage increased from 0 to 2%.
  • Malediction Ward: Magic damage increased from 0 to 2%.
  • Arcane Spirit Shield: Magic damage increased from 0 to 3%.
  • Seers' Ring and Seers' Ring (i): Magic damage increased from 0 to 0.5%
  • Elite Void Mage Set bonus: Magic damage increased from 2.5% to 5%.

Other Item Adjustments

Magic gear isn't the only thing that's changing! Today’s update also includes the highly-anticipated Elder Maul buff and a few other gear improvements:
  • Various improvements to the Soulreaper Axe:
    • Stacks will no longer be lost instantly upon switching weapon.
    • Stacks will start decrementing after 20 ticks (12s) without attacking, up from 10 ticks (6s).
    • When stacks naturally degrade, they'll heal you for the damage you took while building those stacks up, so long as you still have the Axe in your inventory.
  • Added a Special Attack to the Elder Maul, which costs 50% of your Special Attack Energy.
    • Hits with +25% increased accuracy, and reduces target's Defence by 35% of its current value on a successful hit.
    • Most importantly: this looks really cool.
  • Inquisitor's Armour set pieces now provide +2.5% Accuracy and Damage when worn alongside an Inquisitor's Mace.
  • Adjusted the Ancient Godsword's Special Attack:
    • Healing from a successful Blood Sacrifice now heals for 15% of the target's maximum HP, up to a cap of 25 HP.
  • The Tomes of Fire and Water now boost their respective elements by 10% against NPCs, down from 50%. They still boost their damage by 50% and 20% respectively against players.
    • This change is intended to sit alongside Elemental Weaknesses so that the Tomes stand out as clear best-in-slot items in their niche, but the strength of the Standard Spellbook no longer relies entirely on these helpful books!
Miscellaneous Combat-Adjacent Changes
• The Dragon Warhammer now drops at a rate of 1/3,000, up from 1/5,000.
  • 'Minimum hit' has been adjusted. Now, if you pass an Accuracy check, any damage rolls of 0 are boosted up to 1. So, if your max hit is 3, you can roll 1, 1, 2 or 3 for damage.
    • Note that you're still able to guarantee 0s via splashing and failing every Accuracy check.
  • Added a 'Cursed Amulet of Magic' drop at a rate of 1/5 from the Necromancer south of Shayzien. This amulet provides -80% Magic Damage, useful for some niche scenarios where you might want to keep your damage numbers as low as possible!
  • Reduced the Prayer drain rate for Thick Skin, Burst of Strength and Clarity of Thoughts, Sharp Eye and Mystic Will from 5 to 1.67 points per minute. Effectively, they should drain at a third of the speed they used to.
  • Sharp Eye and Burst of Strength now boost your Ranged and Strength by 1 level respectively, if those levels are lower than 20.
    • Note that this only applies when calculating your max hit, so you won't notice a visible stat boost or anything to that effect.
  • Attacking an NPC with auto-cast enabled no longer incurs an extra 0.6s delay. This has been requested for absolutely ages, all that's left now is to figure out what you're going to do with all the extra time you'll have!
  • Adjusted The Path of Apmeken:
    • Increased Hitpoints of style-specific enemies inside the infamous 'monkey room', although they'll always take maximum damage from their opposing style. Note that each of these has a 'weak' and 'strong' variant, hence the two values for HP.
      • Baboon Brawler: 25 HP and 30 HP. Always max hit by Magic.
      • Baboon Thrower: 30 HP and 35 HP. Always max hit by Melee.
      • Baboon Mage: 20 HP and 25 HP. Always max hit by Ranged.
    • None of the enemies in the Path of Apmeken will scale with Raid Level or Group Size, so the Hitpoints values you see here should be consistent in every single Tombs of Amascut run. This also applies to NPCs not listed above like Volatile Baboons, Cursed Baboons and Baboon Shamans - though you won't be guaranteed max hits against these!
  • Improved Phosani's Nightmare’s drop rates:
    • Any specific piece of Inquisitor Armour now drops at a rate of 1/700, up from 1/1,000.
    • Any specific Orb now drops at a rate of 1/1,600, up from 1/3,000.
    • The Inquisitor's Mace now drops at a rate of 1/1,250, up from 1/2,000.
    • The Nightmare Staff now drops at a rate of 1/533, up from 1/666.7.
  • Improved the Nightmare’s drop rates, too! Note that drop rates at the Nightmare scale and that the values here only reflect the 'base' rate. For more info, see here.
    • Any specific piece of Inquisitor Armour now drops at a rate of 1/420, up from 1/600.
    • Any specific Orb now drops at a rate of 1/960, up from 1/1,800.
    • The Inquisitor's Mace now drops at a rate of 1/750, up from 1/1,250.
    • The Nightmare Staff now drops at a rate of 1/300, up from 1/400.
  • Ava's devices will now apply their ammo-saving effects to Javelins, as they do for other ammo types.

That’s all from Project Rebalance for now, but if you’d like more details about any of the changes we’ve discussed today, be sure to read through the blogs linked above.

Other Changes

For dessert, a short but sweet selection of miscellaneous changes:
  • Spell Tablet Lecterns in Player-Owned Houses now remember the position of their scrollbar when closed and reopened.
  • The Genie random event has stopped referring to everyone as "Master", and will use "Mistress" when appropriate.
  • The Varlamorian Master and Elite emote clue S.T.A.S.H. units now properly appear filled on the S.T.A.S.H. noticeboard.
  • The Blood Moon's Jaguar 'HP sap' no longer persists through teleports. This one can't technically kill you, but a pretty harrowing HCIM scare convinced us it was worth fixing…
Project Rebalance: Skilling Tweaks
It’s been a couple of weeks since the first part of Project Rebalance went live, and we’re happy with where most of the changes are at. Even so, we have a few more tweaks for you this week.

First, an update on Expert Mining Gloves, which have been re-enabled for Sandstone with some minor balancing changes. Initially, players were able to mine a whopping three extra Sandstone before the rock depleted, which was a little stronger than we intended. As of today’s change, they’ll be able to mine one extra.

Sticking with the Mining theme, we also hotfixed a couple of Zalcano changes. To deter leeching, all players must now deal at least 5 armour damage to Zalcano, regardless of how much health damage they deal over the course of the fight. Additionally, the minimum contribution required has increased to 75, up from 50.

A third hotfix applies a delay when re-entering the Brimhaven Agility Dungeon after teleporting out. This prevents players using the Achievement Diary Cape to repeatedly teleport out, re-enter and tag a pillar close to the entry ladder, resulting in unexpectedly high XP rates.

Last week, we reduced fail rates when pickpocketing paladins, gnomes and heroes – but many of you still feel they don’t hit the mark. This week we’re improving their fail rate even more, and re-upping XP per pickpocket. Note that XP per hour for these NPCs does scale drastically with your Thieving level. Paladins, for example, ramp up from ~90,000 XP per hour at Level 70 to ~180,000 XP per hour at Level 99.

Along similar lines, we’re walking back a change we made to fever spiders loot table last week which turned them into powerful, risk-free AFK moneymakers. That’s another kind of spider altogether, so we’ve taken things down a notch by replacing the Rune Medium Helm and Battleaxe with their Adamant equivalents and swapping Water Battlestaves for Limpwurt Roots. We remain open to further changes following your feedback.

To round us off, we have two tiny tweaks:
  • Corrected messaging that plays when the Ore Sack at Motherlode Mine is full.
  • Efaritay’s Aid now correctly interacts with tier 1 and 2 vampyres, instead of reducing damage dealt to them.

Minigame Improvements
Today’s update also brings a selection of QoL changes to minigames all over Gielinor:
  • Various skilling actions in Trouble Brewing now provide XP for the associated skill:
    • Capturing a Monkey awards 15 Agility and 15 Hunter XP.
    • Increasing the Boiler pressure awards 80 Strength XP.
    • Lighting logs in the Boiler now awards 320 Firemaking XP, up from the 40 XP provided when adding logs to the Boiler.
    • Obtaining a Bitternut awards 160 Hunter XP.
    • Depositing a Bitternut into the Hopper awards 640 Cooking XP.
    • Obtaining Scrapey Tree Bark from logs awards 160 Fletching XP.
    • Depositing Scrapey Tree Bark into the Hopper awards 320 Cooking XP.
    • Obtaining Sweetgrubs awards 160 Hunter XP.
    • Depositing Sweetgrubs into the Hopper awards 320 Cooking XP.
    • Adding your team's coloured water to the Hopper awards 320 Cooking XP.
    • Figuring out how any of this results in ‘Rum’ earns you the gratitude of the entire Community Management team.
  • The reward currency from Trouble Brewing, Pieces of Eight, have been converted into a variable stored on your account rather than a physical item. This brings them in line with other Minigame currencies.
  • Added a new 'Classic F2P' option to the 'Magic' dropdown while setting up a Clan Wars game. This setting makes it so that Bind is the only 'freeze' spell available in a game with this setting enabled.
  • Fully-grown plants in Tithe Farm will no longer decay.
  • Tears of Guthix will now show your Personal Best while you're collecting tears.
  • The Guardians of the Rift entry barrier has received some visual updates. It should be even more red when you're unable to enter the minigame, and we've added a new 'Red, Eye Open' variant for scenarios where the player count has reached 200 but the game has not yet started.

It's worth noting that our next QoL Poll will see us focus on more significant changes to some minigames/activities, including Wintertodt and Guardians of the Rift.

Other Changes
Just like all good updates, we've got a scattering of smaller updates spread throughout a variety of content that's not easy to group up with everything else.

Up first is a change to the Grand Exchange interface, allowing you to set up your own +X% and -X% buttons when buying or selling - for the trader in a serious rush.

You can use these buttons to enter in any custom amount you'd like to strike the perfect balance between 'less spam clicking on the 5% button' and 'paying millions of GP for one niche Quest item'! Right-clicking on the button lets you customise this value at any time.

Next is a change to the Theatre of Blood, specifically to how Verzik scales to one remaining player in Normal mode Theatre of Blood. These changes were initially floated to you alongside Project Rebalance, but have been worked on by a different team - hence their slightly earlier release!
  • If only one player remains during Normal Mode Verzik's P2, only one Nylocas Matomenos (the red one) will spawn, as in Hard Mode.
  • If only one player remains during Normal Mode Verzik's P2, the Lightning Ball damage is capped, as in Hard Mode.

To round us off, here's a list of other tweaks - we're sure your favourite part of today's update is likely to be somewhere in here, as is tradition...
  • A warning message has been added to prevent players from accidentally choosing to 'Release' a Mature Tecu Salamander.
  • The Troll tunnels leading up to Trollweiss, encountered during the Troll Romance quest, have been restored to Single-way combat. This is to correct an error in a recent update where they'd accidentally been made Multi-combat.
  • The Staff of the Dead's Special Attack effect is now cleared when using a Rejuvenation Pool inside your POH.
  • A new option has been added to the Settings menu that allows you to pick your 'hit sounds'. This is the sound that your character makes when they're hit by an enemy.
  • Elven Teleport Crystals now have a 'Toggle' option when right-clicked, which will allow you to set your left-click teleport to either Lletya or Prifddinas.
  • Wyrms have had their animations adjusted to make them more accessible for players who are at risk of seizures.
  • Fixed a bug where it was possible to skip Vet'ion's second phase.
This Week in Old School
Before we sign off, we’re trying out a new newspost feature where we summarise a selection of cool goings-on from the previous week.

Yesterday, we posted a first look at Deadman: Armageddon, the thrilling sequel to last year’s Deadman: Apocalypse. We’ve made a few gameplay changes which you can read all about in this blog. Deadman: Armageddon runs from July 19th to August 3rd, so get your holiday requests in ASAP – or you might be met with the same result we got in this video.

In other Deadman news, don’t forget to vote for Armageddon-themed tradeable cosmetic kits in next week’s in-game poll! Should they pass, you’ll be able to spend your hard-earned Deadman Points on some seriously cool Corrupted Weapon kits – or pick them up at the Grand Exchange, if that’s more your bag.

If you're looking for something to watch during your latest grind, check out this epic piece of investigative journalism, in which star reporter J1mmy delves deep into Neypotzli to document a man driven to madness by the Moons of Peril (spoiler alert, the man is talented community artist 8sat). That's two Golden Gnome winners working hand-in-hand - it doesn't get much better than that!

If you can’t see the video above, click here to watch it.

After all that excitement, why not wind down with a copy of RuneScape: The Gift of Guthix?

This is the first of three new novels packed full of Scape-y goodness, written by Erin M Evans in partnership with Titan Books. It tells an epic tale of the origin of magic, the plight of civil war, and the crushing defeat of the Fremennik Great Invasion. If you'd like to snag a copy for yourself, you can grab one online or from local bookstores. Check out this handy page on the Titan Website for a full list of retailers around the world!

And that's a wrap! We'll see you next week for another action-packed Game Update. Good luck on the gains, and happy 'Scaping!
