Even More Poll 78 Changes | Weekly Game Update (March 9th)

This week, we're launching a number of Poll 78 changes!

Poll 78 Changes
• Rings of Recoil have been added to the Magpie Implings’ loot table.
  • Players can now filter their Prayers in the same way as Magic spells.
  • Reduced the cost of the Abyssal Dagger’s special attack from 50% to 25%.
  • Removed restrictions on the use of the Special Attack Orb in the Wilderness, PvP Worlds, and PvP Minigames.

Other Changes
• Tweaked the pathfinding of certain NPCs. As long as the door is open, talking to Herman Caranos or any Banker should now walk you to the front of their booth or table and not into a wall. If you find you’re still walking into walls, please let us know!
  • Fixed an issue with the Relevant Maledictus’ drop mechanics where players could not obtain loot if the top-damage player left the cave before the boss died.
  • Re-centred Inventory icons for the Ring of Pursuit, Ring of Returning, and Efaritay’s Aid.
  • Rotated a misaligned rug corner in Piscarilius.
  • Corrected dialogue which referred to Legends’ Quest by the wrong name.
  • The Thrall Duration Bar should now be adjusted in line with the player’s Combat Achievement rewards.
  • Expanded activity HiScores that previously had a minimum KC of 40; the new minimum is 35. Players within this range should find their scores are added gradually soon.
    • As a reminder, this is an ongoing update designed to reduce the load on our HiScore system – we’ll be lowering the KC minimum again soon!
  • A greater range of items, including upgrades, will now count for Master Clue steps and be accepted in S.T.A.S.H. Units:
    • Climbing Boots (g) can now be substituted for Climbing Boots in the Elite S.T.A.S.H. near the Shadow Dungeon entrance.
    • The Abyssal Tentacle and Abyssal Tentacle (or) can now be substituted for the Abyssal Whip in the S.T.A.S.H. near Draynor Bank.
    • Guardian Boots can be substituted for Bandos Boots in the S.T.A.S.H. near Zul-Andra.
    • Climbing Boots (g) can now be used to solve the Elite emote clue, ‘Cheer in the Shadow Dungeon’.
    • The Abyssal Tentacle and Abyssal Tentacle (or) will now be accepted in place of the Abyssal Whip in the relevant Master emote clue.
    • Guardian Boots can now be substituted for Bandos Boots in the relevant Master emote clue.
    • Primordial Boots will now be accepted in place of Dragon Boots in the relevant Elite emote clue.
    • Falo will now accept the Bow of Faerdhinen, the Bow of Faerdhinen (c) and all colour variations in place of the Crystal Bow.
    • Falo will also now accept all Ghommal’s Hilt variations of the Avernic Defender in place of the Avernic Defender, including Trouver versions.

Please note that although upgraded items are now storable in relevant S.T.A.S.H. Units, we’ve intentionally blocked Abyssal Tentacles, Guardian Boots, and Primordial Boots from the S.T.A.S.H. for Ultimate Iron Men. Don’t worry, though – we intend to poll this change specifically for Ultimate Iron Men at a later date.
Theatre of Blood: Entry Mode Improvements
Raiders rejoice, the improvements we promised for the Theatre of Blood Entry Mode are here! If you missed the detailed explanation in the Poll 78 newspost, we’ve got a full rundown of the changes below.

Foe Hitpoint Scaling

We’ve made the hitpoint scaling in Theatre of Blood Entry Mode more consistent:
  • 1 Player: Unchanged
  • 2 Players: +90%
  • 3 Players: +80%
  • 4 Players: +70%
  • 5 Players: +60%

With this change, five players will have a hitpoint increase of 300% rather than 400%, as the percentages stack for every additional player. Three players would have a +170% increase (Base Hitpoints + 90% + 80%).

For example: a foe with 100 hitpoints versus one player would have 400 hitpoints versus five players. Before, it would have had 500 hitpoints.

Number of Attempts

Theatre of Blood Entry Mode previously gave players three attempts to finish the raid. Given that this is intended as a practice mode, we decided to bring it in line with Tombs of Amascut and give players unlimited attempts to complete it.

It’s worth noting that each failure still takes away from the loot available at the end of the raid, so would-be raiders will still need to polish their skills to get away with the goods!

Supplies on Wipe

Unlimited attempts aren’t the only thing we’ve borrowed from Tombs of Amascut’s Entry Mode. As of today’s update, raid parties will receive extra supplies (in the form of Bandages) whenever they wipe! The number of supplies depends on how much stuff you used in your previous attempt.

Failure Costs

Previously, it cost a whopping 100,000 GP to reclaim your items after failing Theatre of Blood Entry Mode. We’ve had a word with the vampyres and they all agreed that that was a bit harsh, so this cost has now been removed for Entry Mode only.

Please note that other penalties for death, including the loss of Hardcore status, remain in place. You’ve been warned!

Reward Quantities

We’ve increased the amount of normal rewards in Entry Mode from 15% to 20%, so that players can earn enough money to cover any supplies they used in the raid.

However, please note that the unique items from Theatre of Blood are not available in Entry Mode.

First-Time User Flow

The final change in this batch updates the Theatre of Blood recruitment board. We've added a prompt that appears upon first use, asking players to choose which mode they’d prefer to play. We hope that this will make the first-time user flow a bit easier to navigate. The last thing we want is for people to find diving into a nest of vampiric monsters stressful!

That’s all there is for now, so what are you waiting for? Gear up, grab your friends, and give Theatre of Blood a try!

Poll 78 Changes
We’ve also got a selection of other Poll 78 changes for you!

First up, we’re getting a little chaotic with an exciting Wine of Zamorak change! Previously, your chance to ferment successfully went from 49.8% at level 65 Cooking all the way up to 69% at 99 Cooking. We’ve increased the success rate linearly from ~50% at level 65 to 100% at level 98 – by that time, you should be a fantastic fermentor!

With all that Wine in your Bank you might consider hosting a little house party – in which case, this next change will be very exciting! It’s been about 16 years since we nerfed the chests in the Player Owned House, so we reckon it’s high time you got the opportunity to stick a little bit more gold in there. Here are the new stats:

Chest Type
Games Room Chest
Dungeon Treasure Chest
Wood
N/A
10,000
Oak
20,000
20,000
Teak
50,000
50,000
Mahogany
100,000
75,000
Magic
N/A
100,000

Speaking of gold, our next change is an improvement to Pyramid Plunder! From now on you'll no longer be interrupted by pesky swarms while you're looting the sarcophagus.

Finally, from now on all players will be automatically opted-out of gaining experience while pushing the wheat in Puro-Puro. If you have some kind of bizarre field-locked Ironman, or want those gains for any other reason, you can opt back in by talking to the Elnock Inquisitor.

Combat Achievements: Phantom Muspah
The Phantom Muspah’s been kicking around for a while now, so it’s time for some more Combat Achievements!

We've got a total of 13 achievements for you to tackle - who will be the first to complete them all?

A reminder: with the release of the new Combat Achievements you must fully complete a tier before you can use the Ghommal's Hilt version from that tier. For example, if you'd like to use Ghommal's Hilt 3, you'll have to complete Phantom Muspah Adept.

It's Our Birthday! | Weekly Game Update (February 22th)

We did it! A full decade of Old School RuneScape! Let’s celebrate in style…

2023 Birthday Event
Celebrating Ten Years of Old School RuneScape

Wow, a whole decade. That flew by didn’t it? Ten years of tears and triumphs, streams and skills, polls and party hats. Obviously we couldn’t let this momentous occasion pass us by without throwing a very special birthday event!

Party Pete is hosting a ‘Cake-Off’ in the party room. He's invited all the important people he could think of - King Roald, Bentnoze and Wartface, Thurgo, Archmage Sedridor, Duke Horacio, Gnome Child... Elvarg... They’ve all been given one simple instruction: bring cake.

Naturally, the Lumbridge Cook is responsible for the Duke's contribution, and his new assistant, Patty Seer, has been travelling the world learning all about baking. This should put them in good stead to take first prize in the Cake-Off, but in an unfortunate turn of events, Patty's cake tin has cracked and her hat has been stolen! Now she needs your help if she’s going to do Lumbridge proud in the biggest cake competition Gielinor has ever seen…

Begin the event by speaking to the Cook's new assistant in Lumbridge Castle.

Mod Other designed this 10th Birthday Event and would like to say a few words, as it's their first project with us!

Mod Other: Hiya everyone! I knew it would be difficult to capturing 10 years of Old School in a way that did it justice. Then I thought, what better way to do it than bring us back to where it all began?

This 10th birthday event is a real feel-good story, so you'll hopefully be walking away with a smile on your face… and some top-tier cosmetics in your hands!

The 10th Birthday Event is available from today and ends on March 15th!

New Cosmetics: Ten Rewards For Ten Years
Before designing the new rewards, Mod Skylark reached out on Twitter to ask the community for inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing all your brilliant ideas! Now we can share the results, and it's safe to say we're spoiling you this year with all of this stunning Fashionscape...

Complete the event and you’ll receive every single one of these birthday rewards:
  • 10th Birthday Cape
  • A Jad/Gnome Child/Stray Dog Plush
  • Jad/Bob the Cat Slippers
  • Birthday Cake Hat
  • Gnome Child Backpack
  • Silver Party Hat
  • Old School Jumper (in six variations)
  • Dragon Candle Dagger
  • 10th Birthday Balloons
  • A brand new party emote

You are restricted to one plushie and jumper per character, but you can change style whenever you like by simply right-clicking the object and using the ‘change style’ option.

Make sure to grab these goodies while you can - birthday treats only come around once a year! If you're not able to join the celebrations this time, you'll have to wait for next year’s event to unlock them. And that’s, like, a whole year away...

Old School's 10th Birthday Livestream
Make sure you're there to wish us a Happy Birthday on February 23rd at 16:00 GMT!

There ain't no party like a J-Mod party!

Join us for a special livestream from Jagex HQ. We'll play through the birthday event, answer your questions, and we might even have a quiz to get you reminiscing!

The Birthday Livestream kicks off February 23rd at 16:00 GMT on our Twitch channel.

Quest Speedrunning
Dragon Slayer II is now available on Quest Speedrunning beta worlds! It’s a Grandmaster quest, so naturally we'll be keeping a close eye on the difficulty for you speedrunning superstars.

We've set the following completion times per trophy, but as always, we're open to amending them based on your feedback:
  • Bronze: 155:00
  • Silver: 125:00
  • Gold: 105:00
  • Platinum: 95:00

We expect to move Dragon Slayer II and Black Knights' Fortress out of beta by next month. That will be the last of our promised Quest Speedrunning updates, but don’t worry, we'll still be adding more in the future, just at less regular intervals.

We hope your spacebars haven't suffered too much! We'd like to take the opportunity once again to thank the Quest Speedrunning community for their awesome feedback - you’ve really helped shape a very special part of the Old School experience, and we are blown away by your dedication and talent!

Wilderness Boss Rework Fixes
Players should now be able to engage in combat one tick sooner when entering the Wilderness Boss caves. This change was made to strike a better balance for PvP, as players were able to escape much more easily than we had anticipated.

Ring of Wealth now works correctly for Wilderness Bosses.

The Spindel lair interior has been adjusted to Level 29 Wilderness, to match the Web Chasm entrance.

Other Changes
Activity HiScores that previously had a minimum KC of 45 have been expanded; the new minimum is 40. Players currently in the 40-44 range should find their scores are added gradually after a few more gaming sessions. We’re taking it down in small steps, like we did last week, so the system doesn’t struggle with a big influx of newly ranked players at once. Thank you for your patience!

Binding spell effects are now wiped more reliably at the end of a Last Man Standing session.

Zulrah's loot now stays on the ground for longer before despawning.

When sacrificing Bones on the Wilderness Chaos Altar, they will now be consumed starting from the top left of your Inventory, rather than using the ones you just clicked on. This should make repeated clicks more convenient.

More Poll 78 Changes! | Weekly Game Update (February 15th)

Bad news, everyone – we just missed Valentine’s Day with this update, so unfortunately we had to eat all your chocolates ourselves. Sorry! We do have a gift bag full of Poll 78 changes for you, though...

Changelog - February 15th, 2023

[expand]
Poll 78
  • Enabled spell icon resizing when filters are enabled in the Magic tab.
  • You can now use a wider variety of seeds to fill birdhouses on Fossil Island.

  • Magic Secateurs' increased yield effect now works from the Inventory.
  • Additionally, Magic Secateurs' increased yield effect now applies to bushes and Limpwurt flowers.

Other Changes

  • Fixed a bug where the Muspah/Phantom Muspah's Freeze duration reduction was applying twice.
  • Released a HiScores table for Skillers and 1 Defence Pures.
  • Rupert and Mawnis Burowgar will now sell more than one replacement for the Dwarven Helmet and Neitiznot Helmet respectively. Additionally, both can be re-obtained from Perdu.

  • Activity HiScores that previously had a minimum KC of 50 have been expanded; the new minimum is 45.

  • Fixed a bug where reverting Crystal weaponry wouldn't return the relevant seed.
  • Fixed a bug where players who killed you in Last Man Standing would receive PvP kill credit if you died a PvM death to one of the reworked Wilderness bosses.
  • Fixed a bug where the 'delay' at the start of a round of Nightmare Zone was greatly reduced.
  • Fixed a bug where some bosses weren't selectable when customising a Rumble at Nightmare Zone.
  • Prevented players being able to sell back their Colossal Blade to the Giants' Foundry, since they're reobtainable from Perdu.
Poll 78 Additions
It looks like you had loads of fun last week running around in your recoloured Crystal armour. We've seen some seriously fierce fashionscape alongside some mismatched fits so grotesque that we wouldn't even put them on our fridge. In any case, we figured you enjoyed the last lot of Poll 78 changes and that you might appreciate some more!

Let's kick things off with a big one... or is it a small one?

Spell Icon Resizing

"These resized spell icons are bigger and brighter than my future" - Mod Goblin, 2023

If you're a mobile player, this change is going to be pretty underwhelming. If you play primarily on desktop, strap in!

Have you ever filtered your spellbook and been left frustrated with the sheer amount of dead space left around those teeny, tiny spell icons? If so, this update will be an absolute game changer.

By enabling Spell Filtering and navigating to the Spell Filters menu, you'll be able to select a new option that will resize your icons. This means that when you've filtered spells out, any remaining spell icons (assuming you're not in a PvP area) will have their size adjusted to make better use of the space available. You'll finally be able to accurately use High Alchemy from the other side of the room. Hooray!

Magic Secateurs Changes

This fairy-favoured Farming tool has been an absolute necessity for any player taking their herb runs seriously. We've all had that disappointing moment where you finish up your run, get ready to deposit your herbs and notice that your Magic Secateurs have been sat in your Inventory the entire time, providing you with zero benefit whatsoever.

That all changes this week, and all you'll have to do to gain the benefit of these snippy Secateurs is keep them anywhere on your person. Whether you'd like to keep them equipped for nostalgia's sake, or level up your fashionscape, maybe even flex your Twisted Bow on your herb runs - the choice is yours!

Additionally, it seems the fairies of Zanaris have played a cruel trick on the lot of us by only granting a tiny slice of their power to this nifty tool. As of today, they've been gracious enough to allow the Magic Secateurs' yield increasing effect to apply to bushes and Limpwurt flowers, alongside the herbs they've always benefited.

Birdhouses

If you’ve been put off Hunting by last week’s exploding toxic Chinchompas incident, you might have gotten a bit more familiar with the Birdhouses you can build on Fossil Island.

In the past, the risk-averse avians of Fossil Island would only accept hop or herb seeds as snacks. With today's update, you'll be able to add flower and allotment seeds to the mix, and perhaps make a dent in the stacks of Potato Seeds you have piling up in your Seed Vault. Mmm… earthy!

Rune Pouch

In a recent update, we added an option to the Settings menu that could previously only be toggled by talking to the Magic Tutor in Lumbridge. This setting allows any Runes you pick up to go directly into the Rune Pouch - assuming there's already a Rune of the same type in there, and enough space to accommodate them.

From now on, if you have this setting enabled, it will also apply to Runes that you craft. Hopefully this saves you a little bit of space, or perhaps cuts down on some Inventory management at places like the Ourania Altar.

Belladonna Harvesting

Last year, we added Poison Dynamite to Old School, made by combining good ol' fashioned Dynamite with Cave Nightshade. While Dynamite is worryingly easy to acquire in large quantities, Cave Nightshade can be pretty laborious to grow - and hopping around in dimly lit Skavid tunnels to pick it up off the ground isn't exactly the most engaging gameplay.

Those of you looking to begin mass producing these toxic explosives are in for a treat, because you'll now receive a significantly higher quantity of Cave Nightshade when harvesting Belladonna near Draynor Manor. Additionally, to accommodate for this increase in quantity, this harvested Nightshade has been converted into an untradeable, stackable version to allow for more convenient carrying!
Other Changes
Last week's game update was pretty light, but we still had a couple of fixes to make:

Today's fixes
  • Adjusted Poison behaviour on Treus Dayth, Corporeal Beast's Dark Core and Chickens, so that it mimics the behaviour from before the update.
  • Fixed a bug where re-applying Venom would reset the Venom damage back to its original value of 6.
  • Fixed a bug where the Phantom Muspah's Freeze Resistance was applying twice, resulting in the boss becoming un-frozen quicker than before.

Fixes since last week's Game Update
  • Fixed a bug where Poison and/or Venom wasn’t being cleared on Chinchompas, meaning they would immediately explode and die upon respawning.
  • Fixed a bug where some bosses weren't appearing on the relevant interface when customising a Rumble at Nightmare Zone.
  • Prevented players being able to sell back their Colossal Blade to the Giants' Foundry, since they're reobtainable with coins from Perdu.

Miscellaneous Changes

As per usual we've got an assortment of other, smaller changes this week, listed below!
  • Released a HiScores table for Skillers and 1 Defence Pures.
  • Rupert and Mawnis Burowgar will now sell more than one replacement for the Dwarven Helmet and Neitiznot Helmet respectively, even when you already own one.
    • Additionally, both can be obtained from Perdu at an increased price.
    • This essentially means you won't need to drop your Dwarven or Neitiznot Helmets to obtain extras, and that you can pay for the convenience offered by Perdu if you don't fancy a trip to the relevant NPCs directly.
  • Corrected grammar in the Tomes of the Sun, Moon and Temple.
  • Removed debug text from gnome cookery.
  • Fixed some floor tiles in the Key Master's Cave that were incorrectly blocking movement.
  • When sacrificing Bones to an altar in a Player-Owned House, the game now consumes Bones starting from the top left of your Inventory, rather than using the ones you clicked on, allowing for more convenient repeated clicks.
  • Updated the World Map to help those who struggle to remember the difference between Jaltevas (Necropolis, near the Tombs of Amascut), Jaldraocht (Ancient Pyramid), Jaleustrophos (Agility Pyramid) and Jalsavrah (Pyramid Plunder).
  • Activity HiScores that previously had a minimum KC of 50 have been expanded; the new minimum is 45.
    • Players currently in the 45-49 range should find their scores are added gradually after some more gaming sessions. As the system is expected to struggle with an influx of newly ranked players all at once, we're taking it down in small steps like this; if it goes well we'll continue to lower the minimum KC required for a spot on the HiScores in subsequent weeks.
Poll 78
We’re kicking off with the hottest poll results from our most recent Quality of Life Poll!

First up is one of the most requested features: if you’ve completed the Medium, Hard, or Elite tiers of the Ardougne Achievement Diary, you’ll now be able to hold 56, 84, and 140 Coin Pouches, respectively. That’s 100%, 200%, and 400% more Pouches than before!

We understand that some of you would rather not see Coin Pouches in the game at all, but as we’ve stated before, they’re of enormous benefit to our Anti-Cheating Team and we’ll be keeping them for the foreseeable.

In other news, elf aficionados are now able to recolour their Crystal Armour in the style of their favourite clan using the crystals found at Llianas’s Wares in Prifddinas. There are eight colours in all, and you can recolour each part of the armour separately. Match them all or go full Megazord and run around Gielinor as the powerful ranger you are.

Next up, herbalists are now able to bridge the gap in the Antifire Potion family with Super Extended Antifire Potions, created by mixing Extended Antifire Potions and Crushed Dragon Bones. Mmm – good soup!

Over at Giants’ Foundry Kovac has been persuaded to let you sell back unwanted untradeable rewards for 80% of the original price. To do so, just use the unwanted reward on Kovac to request a refund, as you do for rewards at Pest Control, Gricoller’s Farm, Last Man Standing and the PvP Arena.

Lastly, those of you who have yet to tackle the devilish light puzzle from Mourning’s End Part II will now be able to access the Death Altar during the quest using the Catalytic Tiara.

You can look forward to more QoL improvements from Poll 78 in the next game update, including Magic Secateurs changes and a little extra oomph for your Spell Icons!
Wilderness Boss Rework Tweaks
Last Week's Hotfixes

Last week we made another bunch of changes regarding the recent Wilderness Boss Rework. Most notably, there were two major issues with the Ursine Chainmace’s special attack. One allowed players to avoid the slow effect, and the other was causing the attack to deal no damage against Callisto, Venenatis, or Vet’ion. These issues have now been fixed – thanks for your patience!

Also from last week, we've made a bunch of changes to the loot tables. We’re still assessing each loot table’s impact and value, so these are still not final.

New Changes

Now, onto this week’s changes!
  • Added minimap icons for the Escape Caves found just outside the Wilderness Boss Lairs.
  • Fixed an issue where Venenatis' and Spindel's HP bars were moving during their attack animations.
  • Leaving the Escape Caves without 'Auto-Retaliate' turned on will no longer force your character to walk in a random direction.

And finally, we've got the drop rates from both versions of the new bosses:

Item
Normal Bosses Droprate
(Callisto, Venenatis & Vet'ion)
Lesser Bosses Droprate
(Artio, Spindel & Calvar'ion)
Voidwaker Piece (Hilt, Blade & Gem)

1/912
Dragon Pickaxe
1/256
Secrets of the North Changes
We haven’t made any direct changes to Secrets of the North this week, but we have brought a related change to the rest of the game!

The Phantom Muspah introduced a new stat called ‘Freeze Resistance’, which put its chance to be frozen on a scale, rather than a binary value. We’ve decided to roll this out to other NPCs this week!

This won’t affect current gameplay – NPCs will still either be freezable or not freezable – but it opens up more design options for the future.

In a similar vein, we’ve also introduced a new stat called ‘Poison Resistance’, which will determine the chance an NPC has to be poisoned. Again, current gameplay will remain exactly the same.

We’re really excited to see where this change could take us, and we hope you’re excited too!
Fairy Ring Design Changes
The new design of the Fairy Ring.

Turns out you do believe in the Fairy Ring Graphical Update – you do, you do!

We’ve discussed your feedback from last week and we have great news – the team has worked out a player-friendly solution which changes the controversial beam to be transparent until it’s highlighted. This achieves our goal of making the ring easier to click, without having to tilt your screen!

While we’re here, we thought you’d be interested to hear the technical reasons for this change.

Currently, each part of the fairy ring is in a different ‘ground location’, with an extra location in the middle, which is what you click on. If each part had an ‘op’ of its own, they’d stack up in the mini menu – we tried various different solutions for this during the Game Jam, but they all looked bad.

Another complicating factor is that fairy rings are ‘multi-location’, with as many possible states as there are destinations! The same click location is used for every ring. If we made every part of every ring clickable, we’d end up with 192 locations for every colour of fairy ring – and there are at least 40 of those, so the actual count is over 7,600 new locations. Wild, right?

Now, some of you may question why this is such a big issue when Agility clickboxes work fine. Agility works because the click boxes are contained within the courses themselves. The main concern with the fairy rings is that they’re roaming free in the world, and their close proximity to other activities means that a larger invisible clickbox could result in misclicks.

Some of you were also wondering why we couldn’t have the effect toggle depending on whether you were holding, say, a Dramen Staff.

Normally, when we let things turn on and off, we turn a normal location into a multi-location where each state corresponds to a different option. But as we know, fairy rings are already multi-location, and you can’t add another multi-location to determine a different kind of state on top!

Now, we have found a way to combine states and make this sort of thing work, but it’s very complicated, and so we only use it in very specific circumstances.

More realistically, implementing a toggle would mean losing the functionality that tells you the code for your previous destination. We know that this is a huge QoL feature, and we don’t think losing it would be worth it.

That was fun, huh? We hope you enjoyed this insight into the technical complexities of your favourite magic mushrooms, and that the new design is a nice middle ground for everybody!
Welcome Screen Changes
As we announced last week, we’ve said goodbye to the old version of the welcome screen.

For those of you who are unaware, we previously supported two different versions of the welcome screen, with you currently having the ability to switch back and forth between the two.

In order to make it easier for us to maintain the welcome screen and utilise it in a better capacity we decommissioned the 'classic' version.
Here's a look at the Welcome Screen you'll see.

We’re glad that so many of you support this change, but we'd like to clarify how we'll be using the banners going forward.

Not everybody keeps up with the news on our website or even our social channels – a lot of you like to just log in and play the game. Having the new banner in place lets us showcase new releases, guide you towards the latest blogs and content polls, share useful resources for specific player groups, and signpost time-sensitive topics like incoming game maintenance. We'll also use it to signpost the benefits of membership, in the same way we do elsewhere in-game.

However, we’ve taken your feedback on board, and we’ve tweaked our proposed new welcome screen so it shows all the useful information you’re used to. Below you’ll see a mockup of this new design. Let us know what you think!
