Make a splash at The Beach - Coming Soon!

Everyone's favourite summer event is back! From July 12th to August 8th the Lumbridge Crater will be transformed into the ultimate vacay destination, packed full of activities to try and souvenirs to take home. Grab your sunnies and sandals, and let's dive in!
The Beach
Those of you who haven't been to the Beach before are in for a real treat. To take part, all you need to do is make your way to the Lumbridge Crater, where you'll find loads of activities to try - a coconut shy, a BBQ, body building and more!

While playing these activities, you'll earn XP and other useful bits and bobs. If you're feeling spoilt for choice, then you'll be pleased to know that every 15 minutes a new activity will get the spotlight, which gives you an extra 10% XP for taking part!

At 01:00, 09:00 and 14:00 Game Time, the Spotlight is replaced by Happy Hour, where all activities receive the 10% XP boost. While Happy Hour is active, the Temperature Gauge will not increase, and you'll have a greater chance to get useful items while playing activities.

Be sure to keep an eye on that Temperature Gauge, by the way - when it fills up, you'll need to take a break to cool down, and though you can still play all the beach activities on offer, you won't earn XP. Need to chill out quickly? Grab yourself some Ice Cream!

Speaking of refreshments, you'll also find a variety of cocktails on offer. Each one benefits different skills!

Lastly, you'll want to keep an eye out for Clawdia. This bodacious crustacean spawns in the centre of the Lumbridge Crater at 45 minutes past the hour, every hour. She'll stick around for 5 minutes, and sending her scuttling back home will earn you some sweet drops! The first time you kill her each day, you're guaranteed an Anti-Sun Potion, which will keep you nice and cool while you max those XP gains.

Oh, and don't worry about digging out appropriate swim gear - there's a variety of outfits, pets, animations and other rewards on offer to ensure that you're ready to walk the walk in the latest summer fashions.
What's New?
Regular Beachgoers will be pleased to hear that we've switched things up a bit this year! Here are the biggest changes:

 • Beach Ball Rolling has been removed.
 • New cosmetic rewards are available from skilling and the RuneCoin shop.
 • Old cosmetic rewards are available in the Oddments Shop.
 • The fan favourite Dungeoneering Hole is making a special guest appearance!

This Week In RuneScape: Ninja Strike 23

Hello, and welcome to another instalment of This Week In RuneScape! Today we'll - hey, wait, did you see that? There it is again! This can mean only one thing: the Ninja Team are back with another Strike! Let's try and catch up with them...

Game News
Ninja Strike 23: Scattershot
We managed to pin down the Ninjas to talk about their latest Ninja Strike - a Scattershot update that aims to make all kinds of improvements across the game.

First up, we have a much-requested new feature: Legendary Pet overrides! You can now change the visual appearance of your Legendary Pets to any companion, boss, or skilling pet you have unlocked. To do so, head to the Pets interface, where you'll find a new checkbox to enable this option.

Next, the Ninjas followed in Mod Iago and Mod Ramen's footsteps and headed to the Lost Grove, where they've been busy gathering up Grimoire Pages and adding them to the loot tables of the Slayer creatures. Speaking of loot tables, they've also rebalanced Solak's drops and made them a little bit more rewarding.

But that's not all! Check the Patch Notes to see everything the Ninjas have been up to.
Mobile Interface Changes
We've made some tweaks to the appearance of the Home Screen on mobile. Basically, we've switched up the layout to make certain things more visible, including your player name, currencies, and the number of the world you're on.

We've also removed the 'Store' button on the HUD.

Rest assured, we're paying close attention to all your feedback, and our mobile teams are working on more improvements as we speak. Keep those ears to the ground!

RuneScape: The First 20 Years

We’ve partnered with Dark Horse Comics to bring you RuneScape: The First 20 Years, a lavishly illustrated, full-colour, hardcover book filled with insider info about the best game in the world – this one!

Dark Horse recruited Alex Calvin, the founder of PCGamesInsider, to interview all your favourite J-Mods, past and present. They also pored over 20 years’ worth of illustrations, concept art and various other bits and bobs to create an illustrated history of the development of the games over the past 20 years, covering both RuneScape and its precocious younger sibling, Old School RuneScape.

Check out below for a sneak peek of some of the 224 full colour pages in the book.

The main edition comes with a swanky red cover and is available to pre-order now from Amazon (US, UK, CA), Barnes and Noble, McnallyRobinson.com (Canada), or your friendly local comic book stores and bookshops!

Or, for our most dedicated fans, we have the Deluxe Edition, featuring a black cover with foil treatments – very fancy! The final design is revealed below and comes with gilded page edges, a card slipcase, a ribbon bookmark and a hard-backed folio containing two archive-quality art prints.

The first folio print is an iconic Tim and Crunchy illustration. The second, which has just been revealed, is a battle scene from the archives featuring General Graador. Created in 2012 for a series of unused loading screens depicting the God Wars, the note on the illustration reads “The Lesser Gods opened gates between Gielinor and other neighbouring realms and brought into it new races to fight their battles”.

RuneScape: The First 20 Years Deluxe Edition - pre-order from the Official Merch Store.

Both editions will be published and available for delivery from October 2021. Keep an eye out for more details - including more sample pages - over the coming months!
