Minor patch notes - 23/10/2021

This minor update addresses a number of stability issues and removes NVIDIA Ansel/Highlights support as NVIDIA have dropped support for the Unity plugins and they are causing a number of reported crashes.

Minor patch notes

This minor update addresses a number of stability issues.
  • Fix a number of issues with the track editor in Map Maker
  • Fix crash when loading some levels on some devices
  • Fix issues with AMD graphics cards
  • Fix potential crash when coming out of a match
  • Fix ordering of map modes
  • Add automatic crash reporting (no data is collected except the crash trace)
  • Update Unity to address a number of potential crashes

Update 10

This update predominately focuses on a redesign of the Pirate Island arena, as well as general improvements to all maps.
There have also been a number of improvements to the mod editor. We have begun moving towards a single set of track pieces that can be re-textured at will. This will reduce development time on future new track pieces as well as allowing a greater range of freedom to choose how your track looks in the future.
The stone track pieces remain for this update but will be removed in Update 11.

We're now down to our last 100 items on the 1.0 TODO list. We're focusing on core game mechanics and UX at this point, rather than new game modes or maps which will come after 1.0.
The next few updates should make the game feel more like a "finished" build than a clunky alpha.
Once we have most of that work done we'll post an update on post-1.0 plans.

What's new?
  • Redesigned Pirate Island Arena
  • Added wooden slope pieces to mod editor (note: stone pieces are deprecated now)
  • Improved randomness of spawns in arena mode
  • Improved arena mode performance
  • Various improvements to all maps
  • Performance improvements

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed issue causing some maps to fail to load
  • Fixed glass in Crate Town
  • Fixed exploit in Crate Town where small vehicles could hide in the buildings

Release notes - Update 9

Update 9 has focused on adding tools for terrain modifications for the editor as well as a major overhaul of the networking code to bring smoother rides and less "jumpy-ness".
This update appears smaller than usual as the network overhaul was a huge piece of "boring" work that we just had to get done for the long term health of the game. The terrain digging also required a lot of work for one feature.

Major Features
  • Terrain digging in Map Maker
  • Stats system - track your K/D and wins/losses
  • Networking code overhaul

General improvements / bug fixes
  • Your own spells can now hit you, previously they would bounce off you
  • DX12 by default
  • Many UI improvements

Update 10 will bring new ways to earn XP and bring back global controller support as well as a bunch of new features and general improvements.

  • New kart physics system
