Holidays/Quests Update

Hello again, nomads and wanderers. We've been hard at work on some new systems and a bunch of content, and we're excited to share it with you!
Quests
The quests system is now complete, and some quests have been created to give the player some direction.
  • Main Quests direct you towards the most important goals in the game, such as capturing territories and building your Sanctuary
  • Side Quests are picked up from NPCs or found randomly around the city, they are mostly bonus rewards but also teach you some of the lore of the game world
Holidays
In each of the 4 seasons, there is a holiday (and 2 in Autumn).
  • Spring contains Easter, and some Easter/Spring themed rewards
  • Summer has Freedom day, and fireworks
  • Autumn has Thanksgiving, and Halloween, with a quest and themed rewards for each
  • Winter has Christmas, and a quest full of Yuletide cheer
Temperature System Overhaul
We've tweaked and fixed a bunch of things with the Temperature system.
  • Negative insulation now works correctly, you will get colder faster and hotter slower.
  • More significant penalties for extreme hot and cold temperatures, up to and including character death
Redone City Randomizer
Our coder is hard at work recreating the city randomizer from the ground up.
As of now, you'll probably notice the streets are always the same, although the lots are random with respect to themselves. The new system will have a completely random city generated each new game, including streets, point of interest locations, district types (residential or city), etc.

Weather/Seasons Update

Welcome back, fellow vagrants!

It's been a while since you've heard from us, but we've been hard at work preparing the newest update for Urban Survival; the Weather and Seasons update. You'll notice some pretty significant changes the next time you log in after the update.
Calendar
The game now hosts a calendar, visible on your map.
  • The game will advance through the days at midnight, obviously
  • Each day new trash containers will appear through out the city, making your trash supply endless
  • Each season has 7 days
  • Each season will contain a holiday in a future update
Seasons and Weather
Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter all have their own unique weather and challenges.
  • In the Spring you will find more rain, and sometimes thunderstorms
  • In the Summer there will be less rain and wind, and more heat, possibly heatwaves
  • Autumn is getting colder, a warning for what's to come. As well as hailstorms
  • Winter is the coldest time of year, so bundle up. Possible blizzards
Heat, Insulation, and Wetness
Along with Armor, which is now displayed in the equipment screen, you will also find an Insulation value
  • A higher insulation value will stop your heat from falling faster
  • A lower insulation value (down even into negatives) will stop your heat from rising faster, keeping you cool in those hotter days
  • Standing in the rain or snow will cause your equipment to get wet, reducing your effective insulation by up to 50%
Holidays
Holidays are no longer real time events, but they will take place at a certain point in the calendar year.
  • Each season will have a unique holiday, some of them two
  • Spring will see Easter, Summer hosts a solstice festival, Autumn is home to Thanksgiving and Halloween, and of course Winter will contain the existing Christmas event
  • These holidays will not be in the update coming up, quite yet, but will follow shortly after with their own update, adding the missing events

Christmas -> Spring Update

Since the integrated Calendar and Seasons system is not yet in place, we have removed the Christmas content for the time being.

Coming Soon:
This content will be available again fairly soon, as we move into a dynamic seasons and date system.
  1. Each game file will progress through the calendar year, starting in Spring and moving through Winter as you play.
  2. Each season will bring new challenges, as the Temperature and Weather systems will also be included in this update.
  3. Each Season will be divided into a 7 day Calendar, and Seasonal events like Halloween and Christmas will be active during the appropriate season in game.
(For example, Halloween will be active during the last 2 days of Autumn.)

The REAL War on Christmas

The very idea seems ridiculous. A War on Christmas? What kind of crazy, depraved lunatics would engage in something so ludacris? Well, you and your band of vagrants are about to make it real.
Our Christmas update adds some new content, and paves the way for plenty of future features. Introducing the Quest Log, and new interaction with some buildings. Some new stuff to look forward to this version:

  • The very beginning of the Seasons system, the world in these events are a preview of the winter season, which will bring many new challenges with it
  • A Quest Log, which will track any tasks/missions you might happen to find in the world
  • An exciting and ridiculous quest poking fun at some silly holiday happenings we've all seen in media
  • A New Faction arrives. The elves, in all their green glory, will try to shank you with their Candycane Daggers! Watch out, they're sharp
  • New Christmas themed weapons and items
  • And more fun content to discover!

Winter has come

Winter has come to the city. The next time you play you'll notice significant changes to the city, this is a demo of the winter season in Urban Survival. In the games complete state the seasons will change as you play, and each will bring their own challenges. For now, take in the beauty of the winter scenery without the repercussions of monitoring your followers heat levels, these effects and more will be implemented in the final version of seasons.

Some features you can look forward to include:
-Heat will need to be monitored, and will effect many things
-Equipment will contain an insulation value, this help to keep you warmer for longer
-Equipment will be able to get wet. When equipment gets wet it will make you colder instead of warmer. Wet equipment will also effect depression and other things
-Weather will change, bringing new conditions to your gameplay
-Standing close to fires will increase a character's heat

And many more features to be revealed.
