Warhammer 40,000: Darktide's launch trailer sets the scene ahead of tomorrow's launch

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide's pre-order beta has drawn to a close, because tomorrow the full game will release proper. That's also when our opinions on Darktide will start to flow across these pages like so many heretics across the streets of Tertium. Perhaps you'd like to enjoy one last dose of concentrated marketing before that happens, in which case you can hop below to watch the Darktide launch trailer.

Thank you all for jumping in and playing Warhammer 40,000: Darktide during the Pre-Launch Beta. During the past two weeks of battle testing the experience, many of you were a big part of the process in helping identify and help fix many issues.

As a way of showing our gratitude, we would like to give all players that played the beta a bespoke set of headgear. This will include the following:

A Beta Company Flak helm (Size: XXXXXL).
A Recon Company Beta Helm and Psykana Collar
A Recon Company Beta Vanguard Helm
The Helm of the Devoted, bearing a Seal of Intolerance

We are excited to fully release the game tomorrow at 18:00 UTC. In preparation for the launch and to ensure progression is carried over, we will have downtime scheduled today, starting at 13:00 UTC. You can find your specific regional timing here:

Is Darktide crossplay available?

If you're wondering if Darktide crossplay is available in the game, we've got all the information you need to know on that and cross-platform play. Crossplay allows you to play with friends on other platforms, so if you are looking forward to playing the Microsoft exclusive game with friends on Xbox consoles, you'll need crossplay.

Unfortunately, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will not have crossplay on launch, but that's because come the Darktide release date, the co-op game will only be available on PC. The whole game was delayed from September, with the console release still not known, which also means any date for Darktide crossplay or cross-save also remains to be seen.

Best Darktide weapons

The best Darktide weapons aren't only tools of destruction, they're a means of keeping you and your squad safe. They're used for tearing anything that looks remotely fleshy and are vital in carving a path so that you and yours can live to fight another day. The question is, though; which of these Warhammer 40,000 weapons does their job the best?

Whenever you venture out on the Emperor's orders in the FPS game, you'll have two things on hand; a melee weapon, and a gun. By increasing your Darktide trust levels, you can access shops to buy new gear. Your melee weapons are used when the horde gets a bit too close for comfort, or simply as a plan B should you run out of ammo - they're powerful, but lack damage when you come up against something with armour in the co-op game. Your guns, however, generally lack the ability to take out huge groups of enemies due to ammo constraints but can be great at single-target takedowns, no matter which of the Darktide classes you choose.
