Warhammer 40k Darktide reveals creepy new free update, coming soon

Warhammer 40k: Darktide has just dropped a new teaser trailer for its upcoming update, Secrets of the Machine God. While the update will add more missions and weapons, a new in-game event pilot will give players a unique challenge - if they're willing to risk it.

Skulls 2024 Summary: Announcing Secrets of the Machine God (June 25, 2024)

Today, during Warhammer Skulls 2024, we teased Secrets of the Machine God, the new free update coming to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. We also launched Darktide’s first in-game event Hestia’s Decollation Crusade.

[h2]Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Secrets of the Machine God[/h2]
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide releases its next update on June 25, 2024, on PC and Xbox Series X|S. This new update features (but is not limited to):*
  • New Mission: explore a derelict Mechanicus research station in Atelium Foundryplex Omega V.
  • New Weapons: introducing the iconic Bolt Pistol, Ogryn’s first two-handed weapons, the Pickaxes, Shockmauls and a new double-barrelled Shotgun.
* We are still working on the itemization part of the update as mentioned in the Vision Statement. We are currently in testing and we are working on a dev blog to share with everyone.

[h2]Hestia’s Decollation Crusade[/h2]
Live now until the end of Skulls on 30 May, players are tasked with destroying the heads of swarms of heretics and gain in-game currencies (ordo dockets, plasteel and diamantine).

[h2]Return of Rogue Trader and Death Korps of Krieg for Skulls 2024[/h2]
For one week only (until the end of Skulls), the Rogue Trader and Death Korps of Krieg sets are available in Commodore’s Vestures.

Another way we’re celebrating Warhammer Skulls 2024 is by introducing The Tide Collection Bundle on Steam (ft. Vermintide + Vermintide 2 + Darktide).

Hestia’s Decollation Crusade



Nothing raises morale better than firm decisive action, followed by a well-rewarded victory. In honour of the celebration of Severance Day, where Saint Messelina beheaded the corrupt rulers of one of Branx's moons, Hestia has called for a Decollation Crusade.

Like the beatific Messelina Gloriana, we shall smite our enemies this day. Their decapitation shall redeem their souls and serve as tribute to our great Saint.

[h3]Additional Bug fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed an issue where the shape of the back on the Veteran “Krieg Greatcoat MKI” Veteran upper body cosmetic would stand out at an angle.
  • Fixed an issue where the colour had changed on the Psyker “Praesimiagoria Mk IC Rebreather” head gear cosmetic.
Dev note: This change was unintentional and occurred due to a fix to address texturing issues. We have now made another fix on this item to ensure the colour remains as previously was, while still fixing the issue.
  • Fixed an issue where small parts of the character would be see-through from certain angles on the Zealot “Street-Dweller’s Battle Garb” and “Penitent’s Battle Garb” upper body cosmetics.
  • Fixed text issues with multiple cosmetic items:
    • “Infiltrator’s Tactical Fatigues” - Veteran lower body
    • “Brute’s Battle Armour (XXXXXL)” - Ogryn upper body
    • “Farstrider Witch’s Service Raiment” - Psyker lower body
    • “Pious Indoctrinator’s Vestments” - Zealot upper body
    • “Kriegerhelm with MK VI Zelt Rebreather” - Veteran headgear
    • “Aetus MK II Flak Helmet - Gloamus Camo” - Veteran headgear.
  • Fixed some clipping issues on the following items:
    • Veteran “Armoured Combat Vest” upper body cosmetic
    • Ogryn “Scavenged Augmetic Mask” headgear cosmetic
    • Veteran “Chasm Railer Goggles” headgear cosmetic.
