No Rest for the Wicked News

No Rest For The Wicked will be playable on Steam Deck, although recommended PC specs may be a worry

Nowadays, I'm more than happy to sacrifice high frames and a big screen for the comforts of the Steam Deck. I like lounging on the couch, the light forearm workout, and heating my room in only a few minutes. So it's good news that Moon Studios' upcoming ARPG No Rest For The Wicked will be playable on launch for Deck, the ROG Ally and other handhelds. Minimum PC specs also don't look too taxing, but those after the shiniest-looking game on recommended hardware may be in for a shock.

Early Access Launch Known Issues

Hello everyone!

As we get closer to Early Access launch, here's a list of known issues that we're aware of and are working on. To submit feedback and report on bugs, head on over to the No Rest for the Wicked forum! Links are available here:
Known Issues with Solutions
• Collision: There may be instances where you can get stuck or fall through the world. If you end up stuck, exit to the main menu, go to your realm in the realms menu and use the CONTINUE FROM LAST WHISPER option to spawn back at the last whisper you activated.
  • Unexpected Progression Loss: If you lose progression for any reason, exit to the main menu, go to your realm in the realms menu and use BACKUPS to go back to an earlier save in your realm.
  • Controller Support: If you encounter issues with your controller not working in-game, check if Steam Input is Enabled in Steam.
    • Playstation controllers are known to only work with Steam Input Enabled.
Global Issues
• Performance: We are constantly reviewing and optimizing performance and will continue to do through Early Access.
    • You may encounter hitches as you load into new areas.
    • You can set Quality Presets as well as other options in the SETTINGS menu to help improve frame rate.
    • Installing No Rest for the Wicked on an SSD is highly recommended.
  • Localization: Language support will be on-going through Early Access.
    • You may encounter untranslated text. If you do please help us hunt those down and report them!
  • Faders: There may be times that the environment will not fade away properly. These will be reviewed and fixed.
  • Controls: There are currently no in-game rebindable controls. Controller has 1 layout, keyboard and mouse has 2 layouts. (updated)
  • Controls: Current UI will only display Xbox buttons for controller bindings. Keyboard and mouse will show correct bindings. (updated)

As Star Wars Outlaws locks missions behind $100 paywall, No Rest for the Wicked isn't afraid to buck the trend

No Rest for the Wicked, the unlikely next game from Ori series creator Moon Studios, is one day away from release. As we approach the big day, the developer has been revealing a few final details about the game, alongside dropping the launch trailer.

No Rest of the Wicked is not the type of grim action game with exacting combat you might expect to come from the makers of the whimsy and emotionally-charged Ori, but it also represents the studio’s first foray into the realm of Steam Early Access.

Top-down ARPGs are no strangers to Steam Early Access, of course, but Moon Studios is adopting a very player-friendly approach that could only really make the experience as smooth as possible, on day one and beyond; at a time when everyone is becoming increasingly weary of all the different caveats and hurdles modern games can’t seem to stop creating for their players.

No Rest For The Wicked launch trailer drops as devs promise no microtransactions, always-online or anti-cheat

As a big fan of Ori And The Blind Forest, I am very excited for Moon Studios' new venture No Rest For The Wicked, an online ARPG which swaps the cutesyness of Ori and that ickle wickle forest for top-down fights against abominations slathered in muck and entrails. A new early access release trailer highlights said fights, alongside the devs saying that there's going to be no microtransactions, no always-online requirement, and no anti-cheat software bundled in. I don't want to speak too soon, but so far, it looks like we're onto something pretty darn good here.
Regional Pricing
We’ve seen a lot of questions about regional pricing. We understand that some countries experience economic factors that make a direct conversion from the dollar unfair for folks in those countries. We’ve instead taken a look at Steam’s recommended pricing, as well as a range of recent releases to land at regional prices that are hopefully considerate of the local situation and offer great value for our Early Access content.

See you on the 18th! 👋
