WEEKLY AQUASCAPING CHALLENGE - "UNCONVENTIONAL BEAUTY"

THIS WEEK'S THEME: UNCONVENTIONAL BEAUTY! It runs Feb Mar 7-Mar 13. Forget realism, make something you can only do in Fish Game! Forget gravity!

Submit your aquascapes to the Fish Game Discord OR to the Artwork Community Page! I'll do my best to keep up with both spaces for a few weeks and see if I can keep up. Please label your submission with the weekly challenge theme so I know to download it!

Select tanks will find themselves featured in the game.

Dunes was a dud! Didn't seem like anyone was interested in that one, so there is no stand-out scape this week! They can't all be winners, I guess.

WEEKLY AQUASCAPING CHALLENGE - "DUNES"

THIS WEEK'S THEME: DUNES! It runs Feb 28-Mar 6. Remember not all sand is yellow!

Submit your aquascapes to the Fish Game Discord BUT--gonna try this out--I realize not everyone likes Discord, so please also feel free to submit to the Artwork Community Page! I'll do my best to keep up with both spaces for a few weeks and see if I can keep up. Please label your submission with the weekly challenge theme so I know to download it!

Select tanks will find themselves featured in the game.

Last week's stand-out scape is from Discord User and PATREON SUPPORTER Agelessgodlander with their Southeast/Eastern Asian inspired Biotope! They provided the following writeup for their submission and it only seems prudent to include it.

"The biotope itself is derived from southeast/eastern asia, based on an eddy within a brook fed by the mountainous regions of southern china, the idea is to envision the portion of the eddy near the bank, where you'd typically find dense root formations as well as loose stone littered throughout the area beneath the carpet, or tightly held in place along the embankment by the root formations. Stocked with Panda Loaches(Yaoshania pachychilus) where they would typically be found grazing on algae, as well as biofilm along the intricate twists and turns of the roots and smooth eroded surfaces of stones; Giant Danios (Devario aequipinnatus) skims the middle and top of the water column along this calm section of the brook, looking to take the opportunity of eating mosquito larvae and other insects near or in the waters surface. Dwarf Gouramis(Trichogaster lalius) reside in this small slow-moving section of water due to the abundant vegetation growing on the stones surfaces as well as the roots, seeking cover within the tangle."

Last week's stand-out scape is from Discord User chestnut (and gel) with their incredible ruin for a single tiny gourami!

Stability and Crash Fixes

Hey folks! After our last update I noticed an uptick in bug reports, so rather than leaving those people behind I spent the past couple weeks on stability. I worked closely with the AMAZING beta testers on our superfins branch (via our Discord https://t.co/IFOVmV5mbW ) to pin down and fix a large pile of small errors and a couple outrageously big ones. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed your time and energy.

And if you were silently suffering with crashes in the last couple weeks, sorry for the bugs I made! Hopefully they've been unmade now and you can get back to your cozy fish keeping.

-Fixed memory leak that would eventually cause a crash, especially in large tanks with many inhabitants (omg it had spawned 200,000 button UI elements and hid them in a pocket universe)
-Lowered worst case scenario memory use to prevent slowdowns and crashes for more advanced players
-Fixed many unrelated bugs that could end up in a crash or general game instability
-Fixed a bug that would unlock the DLC shop (it should come with the DLC, not via Keeper XP)
-Added tooltips to the fish/plant list that appear to match the inventory tooltips
-Smoothed out potential confusion point in the early tutorial
