Ho there, adventurers!

Over the last couple of weeks and since we've launched Black Geyser, we've been delivering updates almost daily to address your feedback. Since our last major notes list, we thought it time to deliver another. If you want to keep up with the frequency of our patches, you can always find real-time updates for our notes here.

March 29th, 2022

  • Combat mode no longer gets stuck when moving far from enemies
  • Demilich buffs himself even if you attack him before the dialogue
  • Fancy Knife is now correctly a quest item
  • Stephan no longer gives sick sounds in healed state
  • Fixed some dialogue errors with Stephan and his wife
March 30th, 2022

  • Combat mode no longer gets stuck when moving far from enemies
  • Defeating Lord Amanuel now gives correct XP
  • Madruk now correctly appears at his home after curing him
  • Looting containers in embassies is no longer possible without consequences
  • Helgenhar no longer speaks in Amanuel dialogue if he is not in party
  • Amanuel's lackeys now have the correct race set

  • Added duration scaling to many buffs and debuffs
  • Fixed some bugs related to the Scofarth bandits

  • Performance improvements
  • Combat log window now retains its height between areas
  • Resolution related fixes with 8K support added
  • Berthold now correctly appears so that you can report back to him
  • Divine Aid no longer heals undead opponents
  • Velianrick, Aldnar and War Council are correctly despawned when needed
  • Power creation based on recipes now works correctly
  • Amanuel's Hoard can now be visited even after its quest is completed
  • Added more types of ammo to shops
  • Added bigger stacks and restocks to shops
  • Added throwing weapons to several shops
  • Fixed an item-related bug that caused a big greed change incorrectly
  • Changed Isla hair style to match her portrait

  • Talgorn's Glen now always loads correctly
  • Dead party member simulacrums are no longer lootable
  • AoE targeting marker now works correctly near corpses and items on the ground
  • Completed filter now works properly in Side quests journal
  • Grendych now properly leaves after you save him
  • Story mode was made easier (enemy damage and HP reduced)
April 8th, 2022

  • Savegames now get correct timestamps
  • The Dryad's seed can no longer be planted on the wrong side of the river
  • Royal Guard patrol route no longer includes the Palace execution scene
  • Cultists now properly target party members in Frick's house
  • More creatures die now in Scofarth due to the river poisoning
  • Reordered Dalkivar hiding peasants reward reply options
April 11th, 2022

  • Bjalla romance cutscene fixed
  • Resurrected companions now always come with their gear (Normal and Easy)
  • Staff of Tree Warden no longer marked as a Metal item
  • Some Alastor opponens rebalanced


April 13th, 2022

  • Player Handbook v1.0.1 (switched to final design)
  • The combined quest ending of Old Beginnings and What Haunts the Ruins now works correctly
  • Added proper loot to Alastor Castle

Ho there, adventurers!

First of all, we wanted to say thank you to those of you who have picked up Black Geyser and ventured through the dangerous Kingdom of Isilmerald so far. We’ve loved seeing folks try the game and have been using your valuable feedback to fix and patch the items you’ve brought to our attention.

Below you’ll find a full list of patch notes from this month so far. In the coming days we’ll be showing off our roadmap and sharing the major issues we’re tackling so you can stay up to date on all things Black Geyser.

March 18th, 2022

  • Log now shows party greed increase/decrease correctly (earlier, it showed decrease incorrectly as increase too)
  • Support for additional wide/ultrawide screen resolutions
  • Tutorial highlights and panels no longer appear during cutscenes and dialogues
  • Minor fixes in class descriptions in character creation screen

  • All paths work now after getting the Pact Prophecy

  • Animal pelt from Early Access save games no longer corrupts shops
  • Generous reply option now works in Lord Frelsi dialogue
  • Main quest no longer breaks when player helps Lorin
  • Shop no longer breaks when selling a split stack of throwing knife
  • Double-clicking a shield now correctly equips it to the 2nd weapon set as well
  • Zoria Titan interrupt chance fixed

  • Outlaw sneaking tutorial at Crone is now more user-friendly
  • Compendium no longer contains duplicate/multiple entries
  • Effect durations can no longer get stuck
  • Fixed XP value and HP for Chimera and Lizard

Old-school DnD RPG Black Geyser is out now

Sure, Elden Ring is tearing up the charts right now, but if you're more a fan of old-school RPG games like the original Baldur's Gate, it might not really hold the same adventuring appeal. Fortunately, Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness launched this week, and it's sure to scratch that Infinity Engine itch old-school cRPG fans developed many years ago.


Black Geyser is set in the war-torn world of Yerengal, which has been tormented for centuries by an evil god named Rothgor. Developer GrapeOcean says your task is to work out the secrets of your own legacy, while exploring a world full of pestilence, mysterious abductions, and a strange curse of greed.


In the classic tradition of RPGs, you can go about this any way you see fit. There are companions to recruit, skills to learn, and plenty of screen-filling giants to slay along the way. Of course, you can approach things more stealthily or diplomatically if you prefer, and it's your choice as to whether your character is a paragon of virtue or an evil manipulator whose only motivation is power.

Black Geysers Officially Launches



Ho there, adventurers!

After years of development, a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, and over 6 months of Early Access, Black Geyser officially launched into 1.0 today. In that time, we've worked incredibly hard to implement your feedback and improve on the things that matter to you.

[h2]What We've Improved[/h2]

Black Geyser's most requested improvement.

We've vastly improved load times to significantly improve the speed at which you can enter and exit buildings and zones. We continue to work hard on improving these even further.

You suggested, we delivered.

Our tutorial wasn't perfect, and Black Geyser was difficult to start out in. We've overhauled the tutorial, cleaned up our signposting and given players much more help through its opening hours.

Magic lacked spark.

You right highlighted that casters were far too weak compared to other classes in Black Geyser, so we completely reworked their abilities and balance to significantly improve their potency.

You wanted even more content and we were happy to oblige.

Black Geyser was already a large game, but when it comes to old-school CRPG's, we agree you can never have enough. We've implemented all new quests, Chapter 3 of the core story and made significant improvements to plenty of others.

Hitting like a wet noodle is never fun.

Many players raised concerns that their characters and their abilities weren't scaling properly, leaving them feeling far too weak against ever tougher enemies. We've fixed this, so you'll feel much stronger as you explore the wilds of Yerengal.

Everyone should be able to play Black Geyser.

Mac & Linux support were important for us and our community, and never more so than with the Steam Deck having arrived (we have hopes!). We're pleased to say Black Geyser is now available on both.

We want our encounters to be tactical and challenging.

We've added all new boss mechanics and unique encounters to Black Geyser. These are designed to make fights much more tactical, while ensuring greater difficulty for those who choose to seek out these enemies.

Wrap up warm for these cold spots.

You can now explore the northern frozen harbour of Freynagar, separated from the city by a huge ice dome, or take a trip to Amanuel's Hoard, the seaside fort owned by the greediest man in history. These new zones come with a cold warning.

Love to make potions? Its got much better

Our crafting wasn't as intuitive as it could be, and it was too time consuming. We've streamlined the process, implemented automated recipes (have the items in your inventory? You'll be able to craft at the press of a button) and refined the process by making it much more accessible.
