Algebra Ridge - Anniversary Update

Happy birthday to Algebra Ridge! Originally released in November 30... Wait. November 30? We're not even close to November 30! Either I'm too late for the first anniversary, or way ahead of myself for the second... Regardless, Algebra Ridge has finally had it's first major update! What's included? Full controller support, a remade UI and tons, TONS of optimizations and bug fixes!

Here's what you need to know:
- Added full controller support.
- Added a new game over screen for a certain scenario.
- Added an option to enable/disable game's custom cursor.
- Boot time should now be close to instant across most platforms.
- Main menu has received a visual overhaul.
- General dialogue improvements / changes.
- Graphics should look less pixelated with lower resolution screens.
- Updated Shiyoon's design.
- Updated a few backgrounds with a snowy touch.
- Updated a certain crow to look a lot more like a crow instead of a pigeon.
- Reduced overall game size by downscaling unnecessarily large sprites and compressing sounds.
- UI has been improved throughout the game.
- Card icons have been redrawn.
- Settings, Results, Upgrade and Exit boxes have been rounded and resized.
- Main menu is now centered.
- An icon now appears after leaving settings screen, indicating that your settings have been saved.
- The 'F4' key can now be used to switch between fullscreen and windowed mode.
- Game will now remember user preferences for window mode.
- Fixed game over screen lagging the game indefinitely.
- Fixed results screen showing up twice upon winning a quiz.

Also this update maayybe makes the game compatible with Steam Deck, but until it gets tested, it's just a theory. An ALGEBRA RIDGE THEORY! Thanks for reading!

The Future of Algebra Ridge

Hello, everyone. No game updates today, but I do have some earth-shattering news.

Algebra Ridge will be free starting from April 24! That's less than a week from now!

The reason Algebra Ridge used to be a paid experience at first is due to the cost of game development. At first, it seemed to me that spending a year constantly working at a free game wouldn't be sustainable. Months after the release, it still seems unsustainable. If it's gonna be unsustainable anyway, why not make it free? That way, people will get to know the game and characters, and hopefully that will get them excited for what's coming next!

Anyone that owns Algebra Ridge before April 24th will be receiving a copy of the game's soundtrack on their Steam account. I also plan to update the soundtrack to include FLAC versions of the tracks, which are higher quality than the current .MP3 format.

Checking the sale stats and seeing that someone had bought the game always managed to bring a smile to my face. However, I think seeing people experiencing and talking about it will bring an even bigger smile to me and the people that play.

As for the future of Algebra Ridge as a whole... A new game is in the works!
As of now, it is nowhere near completion, and as such, I can't share too much information. I hope you look forward to it!

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for reading!

Patch Notes : 1.0.3 (Lunar New Year Update)

New Year? That's cool. Shame it happens only once a year. OR DOES IT? Why celebrate once when you can celebrate TWICE?! That's right, it's Lunar New Year time!

Regardless of when New Year started, here's an update to celebrate Lunar New Year!
This update focuses on polishing the overall Algebra Ridge experience, in order to prepare the game for future updates that will bring new features!

Here are the patch notes for v1.0.3:
  • Previously unseen character is now represented in another certain character's sprite.

  • Minor dialogue changes throughout the game.
  • "Flawless Thinker" achievement now requires a score of at least 7500 instead of 7000 to unlock.
