RealRTCW 3.3 Update. Enemy Territory Demo & More


[h3]As Return to Castle Wolfenstein 20th aniversary approaches, we prepared quite a few releases to celebrate this event.[/h3]

[h2]RealRTCW 3.3 Update[/h2]
First of all I want to introduce you the RealRTCW 3.3. This update finalizes the series of polishing updates I've been doing since the beginning of this year. Let's get through the highlights.

[h3]Alternative fire modes for AR's[/h3]
You can now utilize your assault rifles properly with new fire-modes feature. Press MOUSE2(by default) to unleash power of the fast-firing BAR and FG42 or use MP44 for accurate shots with its one-shot fire mode.

[h3]Major recoil overhaul[/h3]
This update also overhauls both real and visual recoil. Now it is less chaotic and much more smoother, without any visual glitches and hiccups. Hopefully, people who struggled with the recoil effect before, will like the new one better.

[h3]Further improvements of the weapon models[/h3]
Following the Summer Update I finally finished replacing weapons models with new high poly ones. Legendary Kar98k is now replaced with a new shiny model. Hand positioning was improved for Sten, G43 and Thompson models too.

[h3]Improved controller support[/h3]
This update introduces menu navigation for controllers and overhauled button layout. Now, RealRTCW is completely playable with the controller. At very least,It works on Xbox controller. Try it out and tell me what you think.

[h3]Buffed Flamethrower and Tesla[/h3]
Remember the delay between unleasing the flames from your flamethrower on the enemies and said enemies actually start burning? Well, it's gone. Enemies will almost insta-burn from the flamethrower fire now. Tesla damage was doubled as well. You can ask - but you increased Tesla Damage before, dont ya? Well, yes, but I've been using dead code chunk, so damage changes was not working at all. Now it's working, for real.

[h2]Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single Player & Cooperative Demo[/h2]

Enemy Territory Single Player & Cooperative is set to be released exactly on RTCW 20th Aniversary date - 19th of November 2021. But before that, we decided to give you a sneak peak of whats coming.

The Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player demo, consisting of the Gold Rush mission is available on Steam Workshop right now!

As for the Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Cooperative demo, it will feature the same mission, and it will be released on Steam Workshop on September 27!

[h2]Castle Gothicstein[/h2]
Castle Gothicstein is a major overhaul mod, which tries to bring new creepy feeling to RTCW atmosphere. Originally, it was made by Duchovicius, but at some point mod was picked up by AidenDemon, who also took part in RealRTCW development.

Castle Gothicstein current features:
  • Extended use of black&white color pallete with isolated red color.
  • Overhauled art style.
  • Four unique game modes: War, Famine, Pestilence, Death.
  • New weapons: Double-Barreled Shotgun, De Lisle, Welrod, Holy Cross, P38, Dagger of Warding.
  • Overhauled and rebalanced AI.
  • New soundtrack.
  • New unique enemies.
  • Veil foliants.


Castle Gothicstein has been in development for quite some time. I was helping AidenDemon with it's development since 2019, when it was ported to RealRTCW engine. For now, we are still not sure about the release date. We really want to release it as Haloween event, but we are really busy with our real life stuff right now. So it might be delayed.

For now you can check out the Legacy Edition of the mod which will provide you the general understanding of mod concept. Here are some screenshots too.




[h2]The Victors[/h2]


Victors is a total conversion RTCW mod with it's own massive campaign.

Victors story is set in Soviet Ukraine during World War 2. You take the role of the Soviet intelligence agent Nikolai Kuznetsov from the partisan group named "The Victors". With it's unique mapping style and brand new arsenal Victors are one of the most anticipated RTCW mods!

Mod was in development by Wolfmap.ru forum members since 2002(!). It was ported to multiple engines, but never reached it's release due to various technical issues.

Recently, with the help of Eugeny Panikarowski I ported Victors to RealRTCW engine. It is completely playable and stable. But we still need to polish it a little bit. You can expect it to be relesed in the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022.

Summer Update & Supporter Pack DLC

[h3]New weapon models & sounds overhaul[/h3]
We continue to getting rid of an old low-poly models we were using.
In this update we replaced Revolver, Sten, Thompson and Shotgun with a new shiny models!

Also, I listened to your complains about new weapon sounds being too weak and overhauled all of them. Tell me if it's any better.

[h3]Supporter Pack DLC[/h3]
RealRTCW was always free and will remain like that. You dont need to buy this DLC or anything else in order to play.

[h3]Config reset[/h3]
In this update I also created a separate .cfg files for RealRTCW to use, just to avoid conflicts with vanilla game. Your config will reset.

If you want to fix that - rename wolfconfig.cfg in My Documents/RealRTCW/main to realrtcwconfig.cfg. But I still recommend you to reset it, just in case there will be some compatibility issues with a new update.

Additional game modes. Enemy Territory Campaign.

New Update is out! Status report on the Enemy Territory project is out as well.[/h2]


[h2]Bonus Game Modes[/h2]
Highlight of today's update is a 5 additional game modes. Most of them are inspired by Wolfenstein: The New Order bonus modes.

  1. Walk in the Park - no HUD, Realism difficulty.
  2. Ironman - no manual saves. Death Incarnate difficulty.
  3. Hardcore - no health and armor pickups. Death Incarnate difficulty.
  4. 999 mode - 999 ammo and draining 999 health. Death Incarnate difficulty.
  5. Nightmare - no HUD, no manual saves, no pickups, Death Incarnate difficulty.


Each of the modes could be found in the chapters menu - in the BONUS MODES submenu.

But wait there's more! You can earn 5 new achievements by beating any chapter in said modes.


[h2]A new way to support the mod[/h2]

RealRTCW will always be a completely free project. We are making this mod in our free time and investing our own money into the project. So if you are willing to support us you can do so through donations!

In this update I added a PayPal link in the credits menu.

Some of the previous donations were used to fund a Steam release back in October 2020. So thank you for that.

[h2]Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player[/h2]


You may heard about this project of William Faure - author of The Dark Army: Uprising.

To put it short - Wolfenstein Enemy Territory Single Player is trying to restore lost single player experience of the cut Enemy Territory campaign.

All 6 Enemy Territory maps were revamped to be played in either Single Player or Coop.

And RealRTCW version is coming to Steam on November 30th of 2021!

Vanilla Plus.More fixes and improvements.

It's been a while since the last update. And today I present to you an update that aimed to fix some bugs and implement a few things requested by the community.


[h2]Vanilla Plus[/h2]
The highlight of this update is Vanilla Plus gamemode, which was requested by some of the community members. Vanilla plus is trying to preserve the original game feel while still keeping most of the RealRTCW improvements.

Vanilla Plus features:
  • Vanilla weapon models and textures
  • Vanilla sounds
  • Vanilla AI parameters (still tuned it a little bit for Realism)
  • Minor weapons fire rate tuning to make it feel more like in Vanilla
  • New holdable items like Bandages and Adrenaline still exists
  • Removal of all new weapons with the exception of Shotgun
  • Removal of the recoil effect while still keeping the lower spread values
  • Removal of the new skyboxes and foliage models

Due to removal of the new weapons some achievements are impossible to earn in Vanilla Plus.
Walkthrough achievements are also unavailable.

[h2]Third Person View[/h2]
This update also introduce fully playable Third Person view mode. BJ's model is now properly animated, crosshair is enabled along with 2D hints. Camera position was also tweaked a little. You can enable Third Person view and adjust camera distance from the View menu.


[h2]Wolfenbabes[/h2]
Ever thinked about replacing all of the enemies with elite guards? Well, that's a thing now. Wolfenbabes addon was adapted (and fixed) for RealRTCW.

Crosshair is now enabled for Scoped Kar98k and Snooper rifle by default

Fixed:
CG_LoseArmor (proto soldiers,uber soldier and Heinrich are now properly dropping their armor chunks while getting hit)
Long reload delay
Weird deathcam behaviour
TT33 reload sound
Endgame now leads to the main menu instead of the old credits
r_ext_compressed_textures set to 0 on all presets to avoid on fire shader bug
Renderer mentions removed from the in-game presets
Missing subtitles on village1_s and dig_s maps
