Arcade Paradise - Arcade Game Breakdown 1

Hello arcade owners! Dre here from Nosebleed Interactive to talk about some of the games in Arcade Paradise. For those who tried the demo during the Steam Festival, all of these should be familiar as you would’ve found them the moment you got the key to the back room. If you didn’t try the demo, you’ll hopefully learn a little more ahead of starting your adventure of turning the back room of King Wash into the ultimate arcade!

“All the fun of Air Hockey, less space, less dangerous flying pucks and keeps the multiplayer goodness!”

Video Air Hockey is one of the first games you will play in Arcade Paradise. To a certain extent it was a “test” game for us and is definitely one of the simpler ones we created. We needed a fun game to test local multiplayer, but as it happens loads of people really engaged with it and enjoyed it in the demo.

“Keep the boss happy as you need to stay one step ahead and sort the boxes in this puzzle game! Get promoted, avoid getting fired and please the boss to get a high score.”

Stack Overflow is based very heavily on the old maths puzzle “Tower of Hanoi” which was introduced to Europe sometime in the 1880s. The name, in case you didn’t already know, is a nod to every coder’s best friend, the website stackoverflow.com, an amazing *source* (excuse the bad pun) of useful code snippets and answers to questions that have been asked a million times by a million coders!

“It's the Princess' birthday and Woodgal sets out to deliver her a cake... travel the world map encountering friendly monsters and helpful friends in this exciting fruit matching game for all.”

Woodgal is a recurring character that you will find in many of the arcade games! Woodgal’s Adventure is first and foremost a match 3 game similar to Candy Crush or more directly Zookeeper DX on the Game Boy Advance, the first match 3 game I ever played (a lot when I used to commute to my first games job as a tester). As fans of JRPG games in the office we wanted to pay homage to the genre which is where the Adventure part of the game came in. One of my favourite bits of this is the Mode7 style rendering we used for the world map!

And with that, we come to a close on our first arcade game roundup - some of you may have played these during the demo during the NEXT festival, which ones did you like the most?

Standby for more game deep dives in future, and of course, more dev blogs!
If you're super excited for Arcade Paradise, make sure you've wishlisted the game on Steam! If you've already done that, then tell a friend or two to do the same, and keep an eye on our socials for more good Arcade content all over the internet!
