It’s finally this day most of you have been waiting for! I’m thrilled to announce that our brand-new demo for Winter Survival is officially available. 🔥 It’s been one hell of a ride recently, but I’m so thankful for your constant support and feedback that we’ve received during this time.



I hope that you’re gonna love the demo as much as we did while making it for you. Rest assured, we’re still open to hear your overall feedback regarding the game – performance, any issues, user experience – every single comment is a valid point for us to check, so don’t hesitate and use the bug-reporting tool that you can find in the demo by pressing F7 key.

For those of you who won’t have time to play our demo during this week, you don’t need to be worried. Welcome to another Winter Survival development update. In the previous episode we’ve delved really deep into some of the more advanced mechanics that you will encounter during your gameplay. Also, I’d like to remind you that our brand-new demo is coming on January 29th, 2024! If you feel like you need some more information about the advanced mechanics or demo, feel free to check two previous announcements. 💥



So, what do I have for you today? In this devlog I’m gonna tell you everything you need to know about possible starting scenarios in the game and how you can tailor your gameplay experience according to your needs. Ready to embark on a journey together? Grab your favorite drink, have some snacks, and let’s roll! 🔥

[h2]How do these scenarios work?[/h2]

Let’s start from the very beginning – every game starts with you choosing your starting scenario and tailoring everything according to how you would like to begin. If you’re looking for a challenge you might want to pick the late evening time with barely any equipment, heavy blizzard and the bear patrolling the surrounding area.



On the other hand, if you’re looking for a casual start to the game, you might prefer to choose an early, sunny morning, with the proper equipment and shelter already built right in front of you. In other words – it doesn't matter if you’re an expert survivalist or a total rookie in this field – everyone will be able to find something for themselves.



One thing to keep in mind here is that every single scenario has some sort of quest to complete at the beginning. Think of it as a short story mode set within the endless mode itself. For instance one scenario might be all about curing the disease and the other simply has you sneaking by the bear. I don’t want to spoil too much, so you will have to try it out for yourselves once the game enters Early Access on February 28th, 2024.



Please keep in mind that for the demo purposes you’ll be able to choose only once starting scenario. The others will unlock as you’ll get your hands-on Early Access version.

Let’s kick things off with the most anticipated news of today’s devlog, shall we? You’ll put your survival skills to the test on January 29th, 2024! Are you ready to brave the elements, fight with deadly predators, and face the most deviant enemy – your mind?



And if you thought that’s the only good news we have for you today, you’re hardly mistaken. Back in February 2023 when we released Winter Survival: Prologue, we noticed that the majority of our community members wanted to experience our game in a more of an open world survival style, rather than following the story.



This brand-new demo is the answer to all of those comments. You’ll still have some tasks that you can complete on your way, but these are totally optional for you. So, in other words – exploring, gathering materials, building your shelter, crafting new items, and adapting to the environment – that is the essence of our upcoming demo.

One of the most intriguing dynamics in Winter Survival is the emergence of wolf parties. Picture this: as you navigate the snow-covered environment, you may stumble upon a group of wolves feasting on a fresh carcass. These wolf parties add a layer of unpredictability to your survival journey. Now it’s for you to decide, because it’s a high risk but high reward thing – if you have a torch, you can always try to fend them off and take what’s left from the carcass. Whether you’re gonna be successful or not by doing so depends on your survival skills and how well you’re prepared.



[h3]Wounded Animal 🦌[/h3]

Another awe-inspiring feature that our team has implemented is the wounded animal as we like to call it. Just like in real world, the environment reacts to certain activities that we do on a daily basis. In Winter Survival it's basically the same case.



If you happen to trap and hurt a deer, you have a small window of opportunity to hunt it down and take as much as you can. You never know if there aren't any wolves nearby.



[h3]Bear Rampage 🐻[/h3]

Surviving the winter isn't just about battling the elements and hunger; it's also about navigating the animal threats, especially the bear. In Winter Survival, we've introduced a heavily impactful mechanic where our dreaded nemesis can inadvertently destroy player-built shelters.

Let me give you an example – let’s assume that you’re going out into the wilderness in search of supplies, crafting materials, or just to explore the surrounding area. By the time you come back you might find that your cozy shelter is partially destroyed. Now the question is – Are you gonna risk your life and stay in the area? Or maybe you decide to leave this place and your belongings behind for a while and come back as soon as you feel like the area is secured? Let me tell ya – I’d make the decision sooner rather than later, because our furry friend might be back in the blink of an eye.
