Since Twilight Wars: Declassified 2.0 was released, you have been actively sharing your ideas and giving your feedback. Our team has thoroughly examined the feedback and recognized the importance of providing a detailed explanation of certain aspects of the game.

Before we dive in, it's worthwhile to delve into the game's genre to better understand it. In modern projects, it can often be quite challenging to identify a specific genre, as they frequently combine different mechanics and elements.

Twilight Wars is a dungeon crawler, turn-based strategy game with roguelite elements.



[h3]Why this genre?[/h3]
At the initial stage of the project’s development, it was clear that the dungeon crawler genre was the best fit. The concept of exploring and clearing labyrinthine dungeons in our case helps to better showcase the gameplay and narrative aspects. The actions unfold in various settings such as streets, laboratories, offices, and more, thereby immersing you even deeper into the game’s atmosphere.

[h3]Nuances of the combat system[/h3]
The combat system in Twilight Wars, like in other turn-based strategy games, is based on the principle that the main focus is on the strict sequence of actions. Certain decisions made by the player during missions or dialogues with agents and Shi directly influence the further development of the plot.



The choice of agents for each mission can either make it easier or cause plenty of problems. And it’s not just about making a wrong choice based on the characters’ skills and abilities, they may also have quite strained relations with each other. We will give you more details about this in one of the upcoming devlogs about the ‘Living Agents’ system.



[h3]Agents lost forever?[/h3]
Probably many players are familiar with the situation of losing a beloved character without a possibility to revive them, which is always unpleasant. In the Twilight Wars project, all the agents are unique and… mortal. Therefore, one must approach the decision-making process as seriously as possible.



We have analyzed player feedback and have decided to make it possible to revive agents, but with a few conditions. We will also tell you more in the upcoming devlogs.

[h3]Is it only about battles?[/h3]
Exploring different locations and engaging in battles in the game is truly exciting. But there's more to our project's gameplay: developing the Triple-A base and constructing additional modules for various purposes, such as rest and healing for your agents. These modules allow agents to restore their mental and physical states after fighting enemies.



As we continue to develop the project and gather player feedback, we constantly come up with new ideas to diversify the experience!

According to Steam statistics, the number of people willing to play the game has significantly increased compared to the previous version. We are delighted by this positive response and it serves as a great motivation for us to carry on with the project.

This year, Twilight Wars participated in the Turn Based Carnival, Steam Next Fest October 2023, as well as other contests on various game development platforms.

On our social media, we were continuously sharing updates on the development of the project, which in turn makes the game more recognizable and allows us to gauge the mood of our audience.

Our team is pleased to present you with the long-awaited demo of Twilight Wars: Declassified 2.0, which will immerse you in the atmosphere of cyberpunk espionage.

We have regularly shared the progress of the project with you on our social networks, receiving your reactions, feedback, and advice. Your feedback has been a great source of motivation for us, helping us understand what needed to be fixed and how to diversify the gameplay.

Now, it's time to share the results of our joint work at one of the most significant events for both players and developers - the October festival 'Steam Next Fest'!

You will get a glimpse of how the project has evolved since the release of the previous version of Twilight Wars: Declassified. The game now features new characters, exciting locations, vivid animations, and epic music. We have also made improvements to the character interaction system and the dialogue in the game. But we're not stopping here; there are many other ways we plan to improve and optimize the project!

[h3]Mission Plot Description:[/h3]

During the attack on the agency, Shi establishes contact with the sole surviving squad - Mentor, Needle, Handler, and Bomber. Following the AI's instructions, Mentor cancels the mission and leads the squad to a new secure location. However, the situation spirals out of control as they lose connection with the base, forcing the squad to navigate on their own. Numerous obstacles lie ahead as they strive to reach the new base and acquire information about Shi's further plans.

Prepare to embark on a captivating adventure set in the world of cyberpunk espionage. Engage in communication with artificial intelligence, experience enhanced gameplay mechanics, and immerse yourself in a thrilling storyline.

You may have noticed that we’ve been off the radar for quite some time. However, the work of our team is in full swing - we are preparing to show you the result of our efforts.

The ‘Steam Next Fest’ will be taking place in the very near future.

  • switched to Unreal Engine 5
  • optimized the game size and system requirements
  • listened to the players of Declassified 1.0 and rebalanced the combat system and energy
  • completely changed the structure of the demo, and now it is a part of the full game
  • added more exсiting missions
  • made effects and animations more dynamic
  • refined the UI
  • prepared epic soundtrack, which immerses you into the cyberpunk atmosphere
  • improved the Live Agents System and the relationships between characters

Enemies worthy of the Triple-A agents steel pt.3

Our discussion today will focus on two more categories of opponents that you will encounter in Twilight Wars.



The Amigos are headhunters for the Hat Union's Central Branch. Their current employers, the Colombian-Venezuelan hack cartel, use them to hunt down enemies with their pumped-up cannons and trademark solidity.
