Update 0.2.49.5

The game's input controls have been changed to be more in-line with other dinosaur games to make it easier to pick up and play. I like these controls enough to leave them here unless I get enough feedback that something should be changed. In the future I will enable the game options input tab and let the user change their key-bindings. In-game instructions have been changed to reflect these new key-bindings.

'Escape' key : Opens and Closes the gameplay menu.
'Escape' key : Closes the instructions window.
'F1' key : Toggle overhead health-bars on/off for other dinosaurs. (must be playing as a dinosaur and alive)
'F4' key : Toggle the user interface on/off. (must be playing as a dinosaur and alive)

'WASD' keys : Move your dinosaur.
'BackQuote' key : Toggle between walking and running modes.
'Left Shift' key : Sprint. (must be moving forward)
'Left Click' mouse : Perform a basic attack.
'Q' key : Smell for food and dinosaurs.
'E' key : Eat food.
'G' key : Pick up or drop food.
'F' key : Drink water. (must be standing in or next to fresh water)

'1' key : Call for help. (Sometimes alerts aggressive dinosaurs of your location) (useful for luring in prey)

'2' key : Start a pack or herd.
(You must have grown older than a hatchling and your species must be one that travels in packs or herds)
(The current amount of pack or herd members is displayed on the Pack button as the first number)
(The maximum amount of pack or herd members is displayed on the Pack button as the second number)
(As your dinosaur grows older your maximum pack size may increase)

'3' key : Leave your pack or herd.

Update 0.2.49.4

  • Fixed a glitch with dinosaur corpses under water not staying in place.
  • Larger AI dinosaurs are less affected by the water's waves.

Update 0.2.49.2

Dinosaurs can now swim across the surface of the water. Some dinosaurs are faster or slower in the water compared to on land. Only the Archelon and Sarcosuchus have swimming animations, all of the other dinosaurs will have to use their land-based movement animations for now.

Amphibious dinosaurs regenerate 200% stamina while swimming. Terrestrial and aerial dinosaurs regenerate 50% stamina while swimming. Aquatic dinosaurs regenerate 50% stamina while not swimming.

Dinosaurs above the water's surface have a harder time seeing and smelling swimming dinosaurs. Dinosaurs above the water's surface cannot see or smell underwater dinosaurs. Underwater dinosaurs cannot see or smell dinosaurs above the water's surface.

Update 0.2.48.2

  • Fixed a couple of issues with the dinosaur AI movement code.

Update 2.48.1

  • The player is once again making footstep sounds while walking, running, and sprinting as long as their growth stage and species allows for footstep sounds to be made.
  • Dinosaurs now make water splashing sounds while walking in water. The sound played depends on the growth stage and species of the dinosaur.
