New Dinosaurs, Camera Speed Increase, and Temporary FPS Increase

You should now start noticing 13 new dinosaur species roaming around the island. The Argentinosaurus, Baryonyx, Carnotaurus, Dimorphodon, Gallimimus, Pachycephalosaurus, Iguanodon, Kentrosaurus, Ouranosaurus, Protoceratops, Quetzalcoatlus, Styracosaurus, and the Troodon. These are currently not playable but they should be playable soon.

Changes:
  • The camera now moves twice as fast with the mouse. The camera now zooms in and out twice as fast with the mouse-wheel. The camera can now be zoomed out twice as far away from your dinosaur.

  • As a temporary fix to increase the game's FPS, the amount of spawned dinosaurs has been reduced to half of what it was. It was around 880, now its around 440. All of those dinosaurs did take a good amount of processing power to have them all roaming around the map, hunting and eating food, fighting other dinosaurs, etc. In the very near future, when I finish making these 13 new dinosaur species playable, I'll work on optimizing the game's performance some more.

Update (Three New Upgradable Stats)

There are now three new upgradable stats.
  • Stamina, for sprinting longer distances.
  • Health regen, for passive health regeneration and health restored per bite eaten.
  • Stamina regen, for sprinting more often.

Update (Changes and Bug Fixes)

Changes:

  • Sarcosuchus and archelon can now drink water.

  • Your current health now increases along with your maximum health when spending experience on health upgrades.


Bug Fixes:

  • The underwater camera effect is now working properly.

  • Carrying both plants and meat is now working properly for the player.

  • Fixed a glitch that had to do with pressing the forward key while flying and turning, you should not have turned from pressing the forward key in flight.

  • Dinosaur AI is now able to attack their target from the proper distance.

  • The player's herbivores are now able to eat plants from the proper distance.

  • Fixed a glitch where dinosaurs were sometimes spawning with more health, stamina, and oxygen than their maximum.

Land Movement Controls Upgrade for Player

  • The player can now walk, run, and sprint left, right, and backwards with the A, D, and S keys. Diagonal directions also work.

  • The camera, if not moved by the player, will remain facing in the dinosaur's original forward direction.

  • When all movement keys are released the player's dinosaur will face its original forward direction.

Compsognathus turn speed was reduced slightly. The compsognathus felt a little out of control when turning sometimes.

Most dinosaurs have had their movement speed increased.

Pteranodon and velociraptor movement speed has been slightly decreased.

Brachiosaurus's size has been increased.

Dinosaurs can smell much further now, approximately 4 times as far.

Dinosaur growth point requirements have been adjusted. I'm trying to find the right balance of not taking extremely long to grow older, still having to spend some time in each growth stage, and having a sense of character development. If your herbivores are not growing very much from eating, try migrating to a new biome to see if the plants there may be more nutritious. If your carnivores are not growing very much from eating, try eating a fresh kill instead of left over meat, and also try to find what species are more nutritious.

Brachiosaurus has had its overhead health-bar position adjusted because of its recent size increase.

Dinosaur smell functions slightly differently now. Instead of the distance linearly scaling based on the size of your dinosaur, it now works in four different steps. One step for each growth stage, each 1/4th of the max distance further than the last. This way hatchling dinosaurs' smell works without having to grow for awhile first.

Smelled targets are now sorted based on distance from your dinosaur and the closest targets are given priority.

The camera's underwater effect should no longer sometimes be activating upon continuing a saved dinosaur's progress when not in water.
