Steel Hunter: Event Summary
• You are one of 20 players fighting for victory. It’s every Steel Hunter for themselves!
  • Choose to fight solo or join one of 10 two-player Platoons.
  • Your main goal is to survive at all costs and become the last Steel Hunter standing.
  • Collect special objects (loot) that randomly spawn on the map. These objects contain resources, Combat XP, and combat ability charges. You can also pick up loot from destroyed vehicles (Spoils of War), which are now depicted on the minimap.
  • The most valuable loot type is the Airdrop. Many players will want to get their hands on Airdrops, so you'll have to push yourself to the limit to get to them first.
  • You'll be able to upgrade your vehicles while in battle and get stronger with each new tier.
  • Battles will unfold on three huge maps (including a fresh one), the playable areas of which will shrink with time. Escape the Destruction Zones that will gradually cause damage until your vehicle is destroyed.
  • The total battle time is 15 minutes. Before each battle, you can choose from several spawn points on the map.
  • You’ll also be able to earn Battle Pass Points when playing Steel Hunter.
  • Steel Hunter will have its own in-game currency—Steel Seals—for renting mighty event vehicles. You can also earn credits and bonds for completing special daily missions available in the mode.
  • You will receive Steel Hunter Tokens for completing certain daily missions. Use them to redeem three stunning 2D styles exclusive to Steel Hunter.
How to Start Playing
1. In your Garage, choose “Steel Hunter” in the mode selection menu to the right of the “Battle!” button.

2. You can also enter battles as a two-player Platoon.
Maps and Reworked Danger Zone Mechanics
In addition to the two existing maps, Dreamland and Arzagir 4.04, we’re adding a new map called Firnulfir with a different setting and unique game atmosphere. This unforgiving yet picturesque Scandinavian tundra will enchant you with its northern landscapes, frozen ponds, and small abandoned settlements. Despite the cold, you’re sure to stay warm while driving nonstop to avoid strikes from other Steel Hunters. Firnulfir will offer players a fresh gameplay experience and many opportunities to experiment with all kinds of tactics.

Dreamland minimap
Arzagir 4.04 minimap
Firnulfir minimap

We’ve also reworked the Danger Zone mechanics. These zones will now close faster, depending on the number of players on the battlefield. So, the fewer the players, the quicker you’ll have to move to escape the Danger Zones. All three maps shrink with time, leaving less space to play and survive. If you’re in an area that turns orange, that means it is about to become a Danger Zone and you need to leave it as soon as possible. When a Danger Zone turns red, it becomes a Destruction Zone. You will have very little time to escape from it, as shown in a countdown. Once the countdown ends, your vehicle will receive continuous damage until it is destroyed or until you have left the Destruction Zone.
Special Vehicles and Their Upgrade System
In addition to the five vehicles from last year, three brand-new tanks with unique abilities (more on them below) will also join the hunt in 2022:
  • The Huragan, a versatile Polish tank
  • The Bái Láng, a speedy Chinese tank
  • The Beowulf, a menacing Swedish tank
          U.S.A.
          Germany
          U.S.S.R.
               U.K.
          France
          Raven
          Walküre
          Varyag
    Harbinger Mk. IV
          Arlequin
                  The Beowulf
                  The Huragan
                  The Bái Láng
            A menacing Swedish tank
            A versatile Polish tank
            A speedy Chinese tank

All eight special vehicles available in Steel Hunter have different tactics, gameplay, and Abilities. Each of them can be upgraded from Tier I to Tier VII while in the heat of battle. Three of the vehicles will be available from the start, and the remaining ones will be available for rent.

To earn XP for these upgrades, you’ll need to collect loot and damage enemies. There are different modules available for each vehicle, and players can choose from two options at each tier.

Learn more: EU, NA, ASIA.
Vehicle Combat Abilities
There are two Combat Abilities that are common for all vehicles:

Recovery: Gradually recovers a fixed percentage of the vehicle’s HP, but stops working if you take damage.
Repair Kit: Repairs vehicle modules (analogous to Large Repair Kits) and reduces stun duration.

Each vehicle also has one regular and one ultimate Combat Ability unique to it:

[expand]

[/expand]
Vision/Aiming Mechanics
The vision system uses Vision Cones. Here’s how it works:
  • Enemy vehicles only become visible when they appear inside your Vision Cone, which is depicted on the minimap. This does not change when activating the Sixth Sense perk, as you will still only be able to see enemies inside of your Vision Cone.
  • If enemies are within 50 meters of you, they will automatically become visible.
  • When enemies are within sight, their markers and HP bars are displayed.
  • When aiming at an enemy, the vehicle’s silhouette is also displayed.
Radio Detection Mechanics
All vehicles in Steel Hunter are equipped with Radio Detection, which displays loot points (Consumables and Supplies), enemy tanks, and loot from destroyed vehicles (Spoils of War) on the minimap within its coverage area. To activate it, press the X key. Remember that when you activate Radio Detection, your current position will be revealed on the minimap to all players within Radar range of your position.

You can only be detected if you are within the area of another player's Radio Detection. The detection radius of a specific vehicle depends on the characteristics of the modules installed.
Looting
To upgrade your vehicle, you need to search for special loot points on the map. Once you reach these points, you will be able to collect loot that may contain Battle XP, shells, and charges for your Abilities.

There are four types of loot available:

Ammunition
Airdrops
Spoils of War
Consumables

Loot from destroyed vehicles (Spoils of War) is now depicted on the minimap. Collecting this loot will be riskier than before, but you'll also be able to take someone else's loot a lot faster (in two seconds) and more often. You can also collect two or more pieces of loot at the same time.
Crew
Crew members are exclusive to the vehicle they come in and can’t be dismissed, injured, or sent to the Barracks. They do not earn Crew XP, and they each have Sixth Sense as a zero perk. In addition, the following perks will be fixed for the Commanders of each vehicle:
Economy in Steel Hunter
We have completely reworked the mode's economy. In 2022, Steel Hunter will have its own in-game currency: Steel Seals . These can be earned based on your position in the post-battle ranking or for completing special daily missions. In this launch of Steel Hunter, you can only use Steel Seals to rent mighty event vehicles. The higher you place, the more Steel Seals, credits, and Combat XP you earn. And don’t forget that you can convert Combat XP into Free XP!

Steel Hunter will also have a permanent bonus to credits and Combat XP from WoT Premium Account and allow you to earn 50% more Steel Seals. Additionally, you can now take advantage of the following:
  • Personal and Clan Reserves for extra Combat XP and credits
  • A 15% bonus to credits and XP when playing in a Platoon
Three of the eight event vehicles—the Varyag, the Raven, and the Arlequin—will always be available in your Steel Hunter Garage. The remaining five special tanks will be available for rent. You can rent each of these tanks for a free test drive, but each subsequent rental will cost you a certain number of Steel Seals. The rental time is seven days.
Complete Special Missions to Get Unique Styles!
In 2022, Steel Hunter will still be closely connected to Battle Pass, and the Battle Pass Points you earn will depend on your position in the post-battle ranking.

Special daily missions will also be available in Steel Hunter. These missions can only be completed in Steel Hunter once per day, and successful missions will reward you with credits and Steel Seals. You can also complete additional daily missions for mastery and be rewarded with bonds.

Learn more: EU, NA, ASIA.

You will also receive Steel Hunter Tokens for completing certain daily missions in the mode. Collect them to redeem three cool 2D styles available exclusively in Steel Hunter.
Steel Hunter Statistics
In the new Season, you’ll be able to track your battle effectiveness in Steel Hunter via the Service Record → Statistics tab in your Garage. Select “Steel Hunter” from the dropdown menu of available game modes to see the number of vehicles you’ve destroyed, as well as your average damage per battle, number of wins, and other stats.
Performance in Steel Hunter
Steel Hunter will require more system resources than regular Random Battles. This is due to several key factors that are specifically related to Steel Hunter, including the large map sizes and the significant number of objects on them. Players with 32-bit operating systems and low RAM may experience some performance issues while running this mode. To avoid any problems and ensure you play with maximum comfort, change the graphics settings of your game client in accordance with the capabilities of your CPU and graphics card.

Good hunting, Commanders! Platoon up with your friends or go solo, and be the last hero standing!

Battle Pass Season VIII: Event Guide

PLEASE NOTE: The content described in this article will be available only on the servers of the following regions: EU, NA, ASIA.

To learn more about the content available on RU servers, please check this article.

Commanders! Welcome to Battle Pass Season VIII, running from June 1st, 05:30 CEST (UTC+2) through August 31st!

The new Season is the result of a creative collaboration by World of Tanks and Warhammer 40,000, a rich universe based on tabletop miniature wargames and also comprising countless books and video games.

The backstory of Battle Pass Season VIII is set in the grimdark future where humanity is engaged in an endless conflict, threatened by heretics, mutants, and aliens on a million worlds. The three commanders who join your side once you complete the respective Chapters are the main characters of this story. The reward progressive 3D styles for the three Core Vehicles are inspired by their adventures and by the factions they represent: the Ultramarines, the Death Guard, and the Evil Sunz Orks.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
The Rewards
While the narrative of Season VIII takes a new and exciting turn, its mechanics remain the same as the previous Season, from earning Battle Pass Points to the possibility of starting with any Chapter and switching to another on your whim.

The prizes are lucrative, as usual, and even more so with an Improved Pass.

Learn more: EU, NA.
The 3D Styles
There’s plenty of great stuff to be earned in battle during Battle Pass Season VIII, but some spoils of WAAAGH! really stand out. Like, for example, the brand-new Warhammer 40,000-themed progressive 3D styles for the Season VIII Core Vehicles.
  • Your E 100 can proudly wear Ultramarine colors (which is mainly the namesake one).

    [expand]

    [/expand]
  • Your Object 430U can experience the influence of Nurgle, one of the powerful Chaos Gods.

    [expand]

    [/expand]
  • And your STB-1 can turn mean and red for more DAKKA—and because “red goes fasta.” Just look at those fangs!

    [expand]

    [/expand]
The New Commanders
Meet the commanders from the grimdark future! Completing Chapter I—"All Shall Rot"—will bring you Dolgoth Sepk of the Death Guard, putrid but competent. Finishing Chapter II—"Courage and Honour"—will make valiant Volusad Thassius of the Ultramarines available for recruitment. And seeing through Chapter III—"Red 'Uns Go Faster"—will put energetic and jovial Kroglin da Facegrinda of the Evil Sunz Orks on your side.

         Volusad Thassius
                     Kroglin da Facegrinda
        of the Death Guard
        of the Ultramarines
                      of the Evil Sunz Orks

Please take note that, this time, you are free to assign the commanders’ Major Qualification but not their nation (the latter corresponds to the Core Vehicle associated with their faction).
The 2D Styles
Last but not least, we’d like to mention the three fit-all 2D styles, each coming as a reward for completing a Chapter. Take a peek at them in the gallery below.
"Flyblown" 2D Style
[expand]

[/expand]
"Moar Dakka" 2D Style
[expand]

[/expand]
"Son of Macragge" 2D Style
[expand]

[/expand]
The Cobra
We would also like to draw your attention to the Cobra, one of the vehicles available for Battle Pass Tokens. There are two reasons for that. First, Season VIII is the first time you can obtain enough Tokens to claim this powerful medium tank. Second, the Cobra’s stats are currently being finalized (see the preliminary ones below) so that it’s ready to burst into the game in full power. This Tier IX Brit offers a bombastic combination of HESH shells and an autoloader, which is pure Waaagh!

Reminder
Select a Chapter once the Season starts so you can complete Stages and claim the rewards. Remember that you can pause the current Chapter and switch to another at any time, without losing the progress you’ve made. Keep an eye on the number of Battle Pass Tokens you’ve accumulated. During this Season, the most dedicated will be able to obtain the Cobra, this year’s key prize. Once you’ve completed all three Chapters, you’ll become able to get crew members, 3D styles, and great goodies (such as bonds) for excess Battle Pass Points. Don’t forget to spend them all before August 31, when Season VIII ends.
Earning Battle Pass Points
As it always goes, you need Battle Pass Points to claim the goodies. During Season VIII, you can earn them in Random Battles and by completing Daily Missions. (Keep in mind that Points awarded for Daily Missions are given even after you reach a vehicle’s Point Limit.) The Core Vehicles of Season VIII—the E 100, the Object 430U, and the STB-1 — have extended Limits for maximum Points.
The Story
THE ANNOUNCEMENT TRAILER of Battle Pass Season VIII left our main characters as they were preparing to battle for the Standard Template Construct on the desolate world of Tahnicus Mundi in the light of the twin suns of the Hursprari system. To be most precise, the millennia-old relic containing long-lost advanced technology is coveted by the Ultramarines and their former brothers from the Death Guard. The Orks are in for a fight—and for some scrap.

So what happened to the commanders after the battle? Who ultimately prevailed? And what is the true Ork way of opening reinforced blast doors?

[expand]

Upon entering the atmosphere of Tahnicus Mundi, we came under heavy Xenos fire but were able to land. No losses were reported.

We swiftly moved towards the projected location of the STC in a Spearhead formation, meeting some resistance from the Orks.

Our task was eased: The Xenos had already engaged the traitorous Space Marines, who arrived to claim the STC for their own nefarious purposes.

Driven by either madness or mere spite, the traitors’ commander challenged us over the comms. This allowed us to spot their main forces and avoid falling into the trap set by the Death Guard.

A surprise attack by the Xenos was also a factor, turning our confrontation into a three-way battle. Its course was quite… disorderly.

The entire engagement turned out to be a gauntlet of sorts. But we are the Ultramarines, and we are prepared to overcome.
[/expand]
The Bundles
Over the course of Battle Pass Season VIII, numerous themed bundles will be available in the in-game Store. Among these, we would like to highlight one featuring the devout Natalestra Aspais of Adepta Sororitas as a crew member and the awesome-looking Ignis Purgatio 3D style for the Bat.-Châtillon 25 t .

Join the fray and fight like the Ultramarines, Commanders!

Stream Drops Week: Test Your Luck!

Commanders!

Do you watch World of Tanks streams on Steam? There’s always something happening on the Broadcast page, whether it’s the most hilarious moments from Best Replays of the Week or the charismatic Luke Kneller talking about the latest events and putting various tanks to the test. Streams can teach you some cool tips and tricks from skillful players or make you laugh at some unexpected and funny moments. Today, we want to add yet another reason to watch streams: this week, you’ll be able to get prizes for it!
Stream Drops Week
From May 23, 2022, through May 29, 2022
How Does It Work?
During Stream Drops Week, players will have a chance to receive some rewards for watching World of Tanks streams on Steam.

First, you can get some useful goodies simply for being in the stream chat. Just tune in to the stream on either the Store or Broadcast page, and then type “!drops” in the chat. This will make you a participant, giving you a certain chance of receiving a prize. It’s as simple as that!

Rewards will be sent out randomly to a certain percentage of participants. Keep in mind that it might take a couple of days to receive the reward.

Second, if you’re lucky, you can catch a surprise bonus code shared in the chat by our Community Managers. During the stream, special bonus codes might appear in the chat, and the quickest to grab and activate them will receive the rewards! So keep your eyes peeled for those bonus codes! And if you missed one, don’t worry—just keep watching the stream, and another one will pop up eventually!

NOTE: You cannot activate more than three different bonus codes from the chat during this event.

We recommend revisiting the stream frequently during the event—you’ll have a better chance of grabbing a bonus code. Moreover, you can write “!drops” in the chat every day to significantly increase your chance of getting Drops prizes! Note that only the first message of the day counts, so there’s no need to spam a hundred messages—just one will do!
What Can I Get?
Let’s have a look at the prizes!

All bonus codes will contain the same reward: 1 day of WoT Premium Account. During Stream Drops Week, you can activate up to three different bonus codes per account. If you get an error message upon activation, that means someone was quicker than you and that bonus code is no longer active. Keep hunting!

There will be three different types of Drops rewards:

1. Personal Reserves
  • 2 Personal Reserves: +50% to credits for 1 hour
  • 2 Personal Reserves: +100% to Combat XP for 1 hour
  • 1 Personal Reserve: +300% to Crew XP for 1 hour
2. Consumables
  • 1 Large Repair Kit
  • 1 Large First Aid Kit
  • 1 Automatic Fire Extinguisher
3. 1 day of WoT Premium Account

These prizes will be distributed randomly between a few of the players who wrote “!drops” in the stream chat. Will you be one of the lucky ones? There’s only one way to find out, so make sure to join in the event!

Watch our streams, enjoy World of Tanks content, and grab some goodies for your account!

Good luck!

Frontline Returns for Its First Launch in 2022!

One of the most exciting modes in World of Tanks is back, Commanders!

In 2022, Frontline will no longer be tied to events or Stages. Instead, it will be launched at the end of each Battle Pass Season, so you can earn even more credits and Progression Points. The first week-long launch awaits you from May 23 through 30. Let's see what it brings!
Frontline 2022: First Launch
EU: May 23, 2022, at 06:00 CEST through May 30, 2022, at 03:00 CEST (UTC+2)
NA: May 23, 2022, at 04:00 PT | 06:00 CT | 07:00 ET through Monday, May 30, 2022 at 01:00 PT | 03:00 CT | 04:00 ET
ASIA: May 23, 2022, at 07:00 UTC+8 through May 30, 2022, at 04:00 UTC+8
Australia Server Prime Time: 18:00-22:00 UTC+10
Balance Improvements
In the first Frontline 2022 launch, we return to the comfortable same-tier battles. Pick up your favorite Tier VIII vehicles and get ready for epic clashes in a familiar format!

Other core rules won’t change, but we’ve made the following balance adjustments to improve your gameplay experience:
  • The order of Combat Reserves upgrades for SPGs has been changed. Now, they will unlock as follows:
    • Attack Reserves
    • Recon Reserves
    • Tactical Reserves
  • The Engineering Combat Reserve was moved from Tactical to Recon Reserves, and Smoke Screen was moved from Recon to Tactical Reserves.
  • Smoke Screen now not only conceals all allied and enemy vehicles in and behind the smoke, but additionally provides penalties to the skills of enemy crew (by 15%) and the view range value (by 30%) within the screen.
  • We also improved the effectiveness of Artillery Strike. Depending on its level, this Combat Reserve will have 20/24/28 shells instead of 16/18/20.

Finally, Combat Reserves are now assigned to the same hotkeys, so they will be more convenient for you to use during battle.
Kraftwerk Map Rebalancing
The Kraftwerk map has received a large series of balance fixes that will make gameplay more comfortable for attackers. We changed several firing positions, added additional cover, made the path to the pillboxes more accessible, etc.
Changes to the Vehicle Rental System
We’ve also updated the vehicle rental system in the mode. Instead of the weekend offer, daily discounts will appear on all days (except for the first day) that Frontline is available. You’ll be able to rent four popular vehicles with a cumulative 14% discount. All rental tanks come with 100% trained crews as an enjoyable bonus.
Battle Pass Connection
In 2022, Frontline will still be closely connected to Battle Pass. Don’t forget that you’ll be able to earn Battle Pass Progression Points for both:
  • Performance in battles
  • Reaching new Frontline Tiers
The number of Points you can earn will depend on your position in the post-battle ranking by Frontline Experience earned and whether your team won or lost.

Since Frontline will kick off at the end of each Battle Pass Season, you'll have a good chance to earn the maximum amount of Progression Points, and catch up and reap lucrative rewards you haven't received yet.
Frontline Daily Missions
After reaching the maximum Frontline Tier (15), you will be able to complete special daily missions. There will be 3 missions in total, all of which can be completed only once a day, in Frontline. Each completed mission will reward you with bonds and a Personal Reserve.
