The Challenge Generator: Are You Up to the Task?

Report #21
Our group has discovered an unknown object in sector F33. The object is not marked on any of our maps. Moving in for initial inspection.
Report #22
Description: several concrete buildings of unknown purpose with an open area resembling a testing ground, all surrounded by a partially destroyed fence. The object looks like a military base, but our radars have not detected any signs of surrounding activity. Continuing inspection.
Commanders!

During a regular recon mission, one of our exploration squads came across a group of mysterious buildings that were not marked on our maps.

After a thorough inspection, it was concluded that the object was used as a secret military training base for tankers. According to archive documentation obtained during the examination of the area, the base was used for developing and testing a complex device called the Challenge Generator.

This device was designed as part of a secret project for a new experimental training technique for tankers. Unfortunately, there is no information about the results of the experiment or the reason for abandoning the project. Still, our research group is determined to find out as much as possible about this mysterious device. During the next three weeks, we are launching a series of tests on this unusual machine, and we need your help!
The Challenge Generator
From June 20, 2022 at 06:00 UTC through July 11, 2022 at 06:00 UTC

Our scientists are doing their best to learn everything about the Challenge Generator, but the humongous device still holds a lot of mysteries. Nevertheless, we have managed to uncover a few important details!
Key Points
• At the start of each week during the event, the Challenge Generator will randomly create one special challenge for you. To find it, go to “MISSIONS” tab in your Garage and scroll down to the “New Challenge” section. There you will be able to see the exact conditions and the rewards for completion.
  • You will have a week to complete the generated challenge – right until the next mission is generated for you. If you fail to finish the mission in time, it will disappear, and you will not receive the rewards.

Our assistants have made a schedule to help you remember the most important dates for this event:

    • First Weekly Challenge: June 20, 2022, at 06:00 UTC until June 27, 2022, at 05:59 UTC
    • Second Weekly Challenge: June 27, 2022, at 06:00 UTC until July 4, 2022, at 05:59 UTC
    • Third Weekly Challenge: July 4, 2022, at 06:00 UTC until July 11, 2022, at 05:59 UTC
  • The Challenge Generator can randomly generate missions with three difficulty levels. The more difficult the mission, the better the reward!

Our researchers noticed that the difficulty level is indicated within the name of each challenge.

    • #001XXX – Easy challenge
    • #002XXX – Medium challenge
    • #003XXX – Hard challenge
  • The challenge conditions tend to have one thing in common: you need to prove your mastery by receiving a certain Honorary Rank, Commemorative Token, or a Battle Hero Medal several times in Random or Grand Battles.
  • If you complete more than one weekly challenge during the event, you will receive extra rewards as a special thanks from our research team. Those who complete all three weekly challenges will earn the biggest prize!
Rewards
Of course, the rewards are the best part of any challenge! And this time, you will be able to get some really valuable goodies, including days of WoT Premium Account, a bunch of Free XP to boost your progress in the tech tree, and a Universal Manual for your crew!

Remember, you’ll earn different rewards depending on the difficulty of the challenge you receive from the Challenge Generator.

Roll Out!

Assembly Shop: Craft a Brand-New Tier X Heavy!

Greetings, Commanders! From June 16 through July 12, the Assembly Shop will be available in World of Tanks.

During this time, you’ll be able to assemble the Object 780, a brand-new Tier X Soviet heavy tank. Combine and spend in-game resources for the vehicle’s assembly at your discretion, change their ratio—it’s all up to you! The number of vehicles available for assembly is limited: 50,000 (EU) / 17,000 (NA) / 15,000 (ASIA), and the first 15,000 (EU) / 7,000 (NA) / 5,000 (ASIA) tanks will receive the spectacular Varanus 3D style with an individual style number! Let's dig into the details.
Assembly Shop
EU: From June 16 at 07:00 CEST through July 11 at 02:00 CEST (UTC+2)*
NA: From June 16 at 03:00 PT | 05:00 CT | 06:00 ET through July 11 at 03:00 PT | 05:00 CT | 06:00 ET*
ASIA: From June 16 at 04:00 UTC+8 through July 10 at 23:59 UTC+8*

*The event may finish early if the allotted number of vehicles is sold out sooner.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
How to Access the Assembly Shop
Go to the special section using the widget below.
Get a New Tier X Tank Without Researching Its Vehicle Branch!
The Assembly Shop is a new way to receive a limited-edition Tier X tank without having to research another vehicle branch! Like in a real assembly shop, you’ll spend various game resources to craft the brand-new Object 780, including blueprint fragments, Free XP, credits, gold, and bonds. Their ratio can be determined at your discretion.

The number of vehicles available for assembly is limited—EU: 50,000 / NA: 17,000 / ASIA: 15,000 tanks. At the same time, the first 15,000 (EU) / 7,000 (NA) / 5,000 (ASIA) players will receive not only the vehicle itself but also the spectacular Varanus 3D style for it that includes an individual style number. It will be displayed on the gun and in eye-catching red lights at the rear of the turret. The style also includes three unique camouflage patterns for each map type. They will change automatically, depending on the season.

[expand]

[/expand]
Upon their complete assembly, individual style numbers will be assigned to vehicles sequentially, from 1 to 15,000. You won’t be able to choose your style number or know which number you’ll get. One thing is sure, though: The sooner you unlock it, the lower it will be.

Varanus is a truly exclusive style. No one else will have the same unique number in your region, and you have a chance to get an incredible customization item. Don't wait for the last days of the event if you want to extend your vehicle collection with a unique and limited-edition Tier X tank! Currently, the Assembly Shop is the only way to obtain the Object 780 and a 3D style for it.

Once all the 15,000 (EU) / 7,000 (NA) / 5,000 (ASIA) numbered styles and accompanying vehicles have been purchased, another 35,000 (EU) / 13,000 (NA) / 10,000 (ASIA) tanks will still be available. They will come in their standard configuration—without the 3D style and individual style number—and will be available for assembly until the end of the event or until they run out.
Use Resources as You See Fit!
Any of the following five game resources can be used to assemble the Object 780:
  • Free XP
  • National and universal blueprint fragments*
  • Credits
  • Gold
  • Bonds
*Blueprint fragments can be used to complete up to 36% of the total vehicle assembly progress: 22% with national fragments, and 14% with universal. You’ll be able to spend up to 50 national blueprint fragments of each nation.

The value of the resources varies, so each of them has a different effect on the assembly progress. You can use one or several resources at once. You’ll be able to freely combine and spend them in different ratios throughout the event. Also, you don’t need to wait and can spend everything at once if you have enough of one or more resources. You get to decide how to make the best use of your resources to efficiently assemble the Object 780!

Resources for the assembly are deducted from your account each time you decide to add them to the Assembly. You can track your progress on a special bar in the game event section of the Store. Once its progress reaches 100%, the vehicle will be credited to your account. See what happens to your resources if you don't finish the Assembly in the section below.

With a well-weighed approach, the set of resources that can be used to fill the progression allows for decreasing the cost of Free XP or gold by almost half. We encourage you to go through the examples so you spend your resources wisely!
Example
[expand]
To make the most out of your available resources, we recommend adding them in the following order:
  1. Blueprint fragments. Use everything you don’t mind using. In total, you can fill the progression up to 36% (14% with universal, 22% with national blueprint fragments).
  2. Free XP is the most efficient resource. We suggest mainly focusing on it to complete the progression.
  3. Gold is the most convenient resource. But if you have Combat XP, consider converting it to Free XP using gold.
  4. Bonds are a valuable resource for assembling the vehicle but are quite rare.
  5. Credits. Compared to the other resources, the efficiency of credits is much lower. It then makes sense to use them in two cases only: if you have A LOT of credits, or if you have reduced the vehicle cost (filled the progression) as much as possible but want to get an even greater discount on its assembly.
[/expand]
Object 780: Special-Purpose Combat Vehicle
Now let’s talk about what exactly you will be assembling. The Object 780 is a powerful and maneuverable assault heavy tank that stands out among other same-tier heavies.

The first thing that attracts attention is its excellent frontal armor. The lower and upper glacis plates are quite small and well-sloped, making it hard for opponents to penetrate them. Trading shells with this monster—even at a short distance—is a bad idea. Moreover, the unique shape of the hull protects the vehicle quite well from taking damage through the tracks, which is only possible in very rare cases and most likely due to a mistake by the commander rather than the hull’s shape. This will make you more confident in assaults and save the vehicle’s precious HP pool.

The parameters displayed are valid for the vehicle with each crew member trained to 100% major qualification level. Some vehicle characteristics can be further improved with the Commander's bonus to major qualification level, crew perks, and skills, as well as special in-game items.

[expand]

[/expand]
Despite its strong armor, the Object 780 accelerates quickly and maintains its top speed well. However, the vehicle's top speed is 45 km/h, which is not very fast. The Object 780 can move from one flank to another, but this will take time, so you’ll need to choose the right direction in battle. But the vehicle can confidently follow its allies to support them with armor and fire at the right time.

[expand]

[/expand]
The main strength of the Object 780 is its good gun-handling parameters for a heavy tank, including a high damage per shot of 530 HP. In addition, its aiming time, dispersion, and accuracy are top-notch, so the Object 780 is suitable not only as a first-line brawler but also for positional medium- and long-range combat. Good gun depression/elevation angles also contribute to such gameplay: The vehicle can take advantage of terrain irregularities and safely fire from cover.

Remember that the tank is very compact, so its modules are located close to one another. This makes it easy to receive critical damage, so it’s good to equip it with Modified Configuration or try to play carefully.

The Object 780 is well armored, but its HP pool is not very impressive. You should use armor correctly in combat and take advantage of the good gun depression angles—you’ll then have a better chance of surviving. Also, its rate of fire is not the highest compared to other heavies. Together with your limited HP pool, this makes you vulnerable in close combat, so don’t get into duels unless you’re sure that you can come out victorious.

In a nutshell, the Object 780 can easily play both as a brawler and mighty support vehicle. This is a versatile and effective vehicle that you can rely on in any situation.
Risk-Free Resources Returns
If you’re unable to collect the required amount of resources by the end of the event, there are no risks for the spent resources. They will automatically return to the account in full.

If you change your mind and want to get everything back, click the Return Resources button. The assembly progress will be reset, and you’ll be able to re-distribute and spend resources at your discretion or stop the assembly progress entirely. You’ll have time to decide, but don’t delay it—tanks with individual style numbers won’t be available forever!

The Assembly Shop is your opportunity to craft a limited-edition Tier X tank right in your Garage. Spend and combine resources—everything depends on you!

WoT to Move to 64-Bit Operating Systems and Update System Requirements

Commanders,

World of Tanks keeps developing and evolving, as do other software and hardware. Together with the team’s efforts, global technical progress helps us improve the game’s visuals and sound and add new modes and events. Meanwhile, we do our best to support players who use older PCs, and we strive to keep World of Tanks available for as many players as possible.

However, supporting outdated software sometimes becomes a major obstacle to the game’s development. As a result, starting from the September 2022 update, we will gradually discontinue the support of 32-bit operating systems. In so doing, we will update the minimum specs regarding RAM requirements as well as the recommended and ultra specs. After September 2022, it will no longer be possible for us to guarantee the client operation and stability for players using 32-bit operation systems, or provide technical support.

We will also adopt more detailed system requirements for the minimum specs for PCs and laptops.

MINIMUM

RECOMMENDED

ULTRA

Why are you discontinuing the support of 32-bit operating systems?

Due to architectural restrictions, 32-bit operating systems cannot use more than 2 GB of RAM per application. Considering the content quantity in World of Tanks (vehicles, maps, events, modes, etc.), it is already insufficient, making the game client less stable when running on 32-bit operating systems. Moreover, the RAM restrictions limit our options while developing new content, and graphics card manufacturers discontinued the support of 32-bit operating systems in their drivers over two years ago.

Why will you both increase the minimum RAM requirements and discontinue the support of 32-bit operating systems?

The current minimum RAM required (2 GB) is determined by the restrictions of 32-bit operating systems rather than the game requirements, which are much higher already—specifically for some modes, such as Frontline. Therefore, 3 GB for PCs and 4 GB for laptops is enough to decrease the chances of issues related to insufficient RAM, provided your PC meets the other minimum system requirements and runs a 64-bit operating system. Also, our engineers will have more opportunities to improve the game’s graphics and sound.

Why did you decide to make the World of Tanks minimum system requirements more detailed?

The new RAM minimum system requirements depend on your system type (PC or laptop). We have provided several possible configurations based on the CPU manufacturer (Intel or AMD) and GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA or AMD) so that each player can clearly understand whether their system is powerful enough to run World of Tanks.

We have made this difficult decision based on objective reasoning. However, we understand that even a smooth discontinuation of the support of 32-bit operating systems still might cause inconveniences for some players. This is why we are sharing our plans well in advance and are providing a clear and detailed description of the new system requirements. We hope that all players affected by the planned changes will have enough time to take the necessary measures and upgrade to a 64-bit OS and/or install more RAM to continue playing World of Tanks.

We will keep doing our best to make World of Tanks available for the most affordable configurations.

Sincerely,

The World of Tanks team

Recon Mission Is Coming Back With Six Maps!

Commanders!

The last time we offered the Recon Mission mode, we saw how many of you joined in and became actively involved. In fact, more than two million tankers played the mode, and well over one million of you completed the questionnaire. We’re very grateful for your input, and, to show our appreciation, we have some good news: Recon Mission will be returning soon for two whole weeks.

More time means more opportunities to try out all SIX map prototypes, which will each be available from the very start. Based on your feedback, we’ve included three improved prototypes of the maps from the previous iteration (Canyon, Airshipyard, and Far East). The other three (Anykeyyevka, Aquila, and Klostertal) are entirely new.

Your favorite map from the previous round (based on player votes), the Outpost map, has officially “graduated” Recon Mission and is almost completely ready, gameplay-wise. We just need to add some finishing touches to its visuals before it enters Random Battles in September 2022. Here’s how the release version of Outpost will look:

[expand]

[/expand]
The second most liked map, Oyster Bay, will be the next in our pipeline. It should hit Random Battles around the beginning of 2023.
Recon Mission: The Basics
• Getting there: You can access the Recon Mission mode via the mode selector, a special window in your Garage, and the Missions interface.
  • The rules: Recon Mission is played 15v15 in Tier VIII–X vehicles by Standard Battle rules only. The map is randomly chosen from the pool of six prototypes.
  • The questionnaire: This will become available for each new map once you’ve entered the top 12 by base XP in six battles played on that map. Make sure to complete as many Recon Mission map questionnaires as you can to help shape the game’s future!
  • Participation pays off: Getting into the top 12 by base XP in a Recon Mission battle will add to your progression bar. To win all of the available rewards, you’ll need to get into top 12 by base XP in 50 Recon Mission battles.
  • You can also complete Daily Missions to earn Battle Pass Points and bonds in the mode. The results of Recon Mission battles will not contribute to your Personal Missions but will count towards your overall personal statistics.
You cannot complete clan missions in the mode but you can use Clan Reserves in it.
Map Candidates: Preview
Take a look at what we’ve improved in the prototypes from the previous Recon Mission:
  • Canyon, a 1,000x1,000 m map set in a rocky desert with a rugged landscape
  • Airshipyard, a snow-covered and mostly open 1,000x1,000 m location
  • Far East, a fairly open 1,000x1,000 m summer map with some buildings and an airfield
Canyon

Far East

Airshipyard
Take a leap into the unknown! These three map candidates are our latest creations:
  • Anykeyyevka, a 1,000x1,000 m map with a Soviet setting, featuring diagonal symmetry, varied elevation, and a combination of cityscape and wilderness
  • Aquila, an extra-large 1,200x1,200 m location based on Southern Europe, featuring mostly countryside with a small town
  • Klostertal, a 1,000x1,000 m map set in Central Europe and consisting largely of city blocks with a spacious park in the middle
Anykeyyevka

Aquila

Klostertal
Please take note that the maps in Recon Mission are prototypes designed for Random Battles. While their gameplay experience is almost finalized (to be fine-tuned with your help), the visuals may undergo more significant changes before the official release.
Questionnaire: Reworked
Your thoughts about the proposed World of Tanks maps have been very insightful, so we’ve decided to give you more ways to share your opinion in the questionnaire. Our new upgraded questionnaire is more user-friendly and responsive. Most importantly, it allows you to point out problematic points on a minimap if you mention that the positions of the teams are unbalanced. You can also provide detailed descriptions for up to three positions and explain what exactly is out of order. We’re sure this will help make your feedback more valuable than ever. If you change your mind about any Recon Mission map, you can fill out its questionnaire again at any point before the end of Recon Mission.
Rewards: Doubled
Making it into the top 12 by base XP (for both teams) in Recon Mission battles contributes to your progression bar. You’ll need to meet these conditions in 50 Recon Mission battles to complete the progression bar. Among the rewards (given when you reach certain thresholds as shown below) there are Personal Reserves, directives, days of WoT Premium Account, medals, and a unique 2D style.

However, note that the progression will be reset after the first week, so you can try to earn the entire set of Recon Mission prizes twice!

Remember that participating in Recon Mission, providing feedback, and voting for your favorite map prototypes are the best ways to directly influence the future of World of Tanks.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make World of Tanks the best it can be!
