Mexica priests with... dreadlocks?

Mexica priests with... dreadlocks?

Yes, please.

Our team of history experts and archaeologists has dug out these images taken from numerous Mesoamerican codices, depicting Mexica priests (Tlamacazqui) with dreadlocks.

The Spanish friars who encountered them depicted the priests with knee-length hair, a trait commonly associated in popular culture with Rastafarian.

Yet in many other cultures, such as Mesoamerican, aboriginal and Indian, people used to wear this hairstyle, considered as a conduit with the divine and the ethereal.

Even though dreadlocks take different meanings in each culture, the underlining essence between them relates to resistance and questioning of social stratification.

It is truly a blessing for us to be able to work with a team of experts who are helping us to really bring the Mesoamerican spirit and culture to life and infuse our game with these elements.

Moreover, with these sources confirmed, rest assured that you're gonna see some badass priests with dreads in Mictlan!
