Here is another design for our God of pleasure, with a black body paint and a yellow eye-band. The white color on his hands and face is a trait that ties him to Macuilxochitl.
The body paintings of pleasure/punishment deities, which are described in the Codex Borgia, are mainly associated with warriors and sacrifices. The mix of intoxication and blood loss caused by the practice of ritual auto-sacrifice, induced Macuilcuetzpalin into an altered state of mind which also made him a very dangerous enemy.
