Ixpuxtequi

In Mexica mythology, Ixpuxtequi is a terrible monster that wanders into the night, hunting defenseless, lonely travelers on the road. Its name in Nahua means "broken face", as this creature appears as a humanoid figure, with long, eagle legs and without the lower jaw.

It carries a long staff to lean on, its menacing figure hunting the living beings and their nightmares. Seeing it, meant certain doom.
Considered one of the four deities of death, Ixpuxtequi brings bad luck and misfortunes. Its wife is the goddess of fear and horror, Nexoxco.
