The Jaguar Warrior

We are very proud to show you the rendered version of a Jaguar (ocelotl) Warrior, who will appear in the game as NPC.

Jaguar Warriors were members of the Aztec military elite. They had to prove their value and courage on the battlefield by capturing prisoners and fighting valiantly. Only then, they could wear the jaguar's tlahuiztli (uniform), a jaguar motif which was associated to Tezcatlipoca and was also believed to give the warriors the animal's strengths during battles.

The NPC you see in the video (a work-in-progress) was knighted "jaguar" by Ahuitzotzin for his distinguished service in the Tzicoac campaign. Since then, he participated in many wars, bearing the marks of his battles on his tlahuiztli.
The pelt is torn showing his ichcahuipilli underneath, a leather band is tied around his knee after suffering from a severe injury and, in a fierce battle, his cuatepoztli (helmet) was split open due to a powerful strike.

For this Jaguar Warrior, every mark, every scar is an emblem of pride, that's why he decided to display them boastfully on his uniform... maybe it's also possible that, with the old age, he's become a bit sentimental...?
