Obsidian weapons
The weapons used by our indigenous Mesoamerican ancestors were usually made from wood and stone, which made it even more difficult for the indigenous people to defend themselves against the Spanish soldiers.
One of the most important and iconic materials used in Mesoamerican cultures was obsidian, a volcanic stone somewhat similar to glass that could easily tear through flesh. Many tools were made with this material, from ceremonial daggers to mighty weapons, such as the macuahuitl.
