Temple of Xochipilli
Hi, Mictlantecs!
Today we want to show you the #WIP of the reconstruction of the Temple of Xochipilli.
Its design is based on a real structure found at the Templo Mayor in Mexico's City; the only part that was created by our artists is the oratory on top of the structure.
This place was dedicated to the god Xochipilli, which means “Prince of Flowers” or “Flowery Noble”. He was the god of flowers, love, games, beauty and pleasure.
Have you checked our previous post about this god? You can see our design and learn more about this important figure.
His temple was used for celebrations in which the people of Tenochtitlan would bring lots of edible offerings, while Tenochtitlan’s neighbors would instead bring prisoners to be sacrificed as tributes.
