Priest of Mictlantecuhtli: 3D version
Greetings, adventurers!
Today we show you the WIP of the priest of Mictlantecuhtli on its 3D version.
This design is a fantasy take on popular pre-Columbian esthetic elements, as to give this character a more terrifying appearance.
A very special feature is the human skull the priest wears as decoration, which represents his relationship with the god of death.
There are several codices from the pre-Columbian and the colonial eras that mention these priests offering great deals of blood, copal, and even committing self-sacrifice (like cutting off their own ear lobes) in front of images of their chosen deity.
