Mictlan: An Ancient Mythical Tale News

Owl Nagual

Have you ever heard of the Owl Nagual?

This is one of many fantasy, dark and mythical creatures that you will encounter while roaming in the open-world of Mictlan.

Nahual are indigenous wizard capable of shapeshifting.
We've talked about them before in our previous posts: #1, #2, #3

What do you think of this design? We'd love to receive your feedback!

Watchtowers

Today we want to show you the progress made on the watchtowers. These structures were hastily built using wood and rope, but don’t be fooled, because what they lack in beauty, they make up with functionality, since they can be used as a forward base to survey the territory and as an elevated vantage point with a better shooting angle.
A good idea is to eliminate the watchers in these towers and use the high ground to your advantage, but that is easier said than done.

Please, keep supporting Mictlan: an Ancient Mythical Tale. We rely on your help and feedback to keep working on our project, so the presence of our community is fundamental.

The Black Temple

The Black Temple is the place where the worshippers of Mictlantecuhtli reunite to perform the secret rituals.

We wanted to recreate this site keeping in mind the architectural and aesthetical traditions developed in Mesoamerica, trying to reflect the imperialist Mexica vision of integrating their art as a society and all of the cultures of Ancient Mexico to make only one.

It would help us immensely if you decide to sign up to our Kickstarter campaign.
In order to launch the campaign, we need as many supporters as possible to register to the page. It literally takes a minute to do so, but it would mean the world to us.

Obsidian weapons

The weapons used by our indigenous Mesoamerican ancestors were usually made from wood and stone, which made it even more difficult for the indigenous people to defend themselves against the Spanish soldiers.

One of the most important and iconic materials used in Mesoamerican cultures was obsidian, a volcanic stone somewhat similar to glass that could easily tear through flesh. Many tools were made with this material, from ceremonial daggers to mighty weapons, such as the macuahuitl.

Pre-Hispanic Cotton Armor #2

Have you checked our previous post about the classic ichcahuipilli or cotton armor?

In this concept art, you can admire powerful warriors wearing ichcahuipilli, the classic protective armor of the Mesoamerican warriors.

Armed with obsidian weapons such as the macahuitl or spears, they would give their lives to defeat their enemies, whether there are Spaniards, indigenous, or supernatural creatures.

Would you dare to face them?
