Stone Gloves

We have been working on developing a character whose main weapons are stone gloves, but do you know what did the pre-Hispanic gloves look like?

To answer this question, we must go back to the amazing work of Taube and Zender, American gladiators: ritualistic boxing in ancient Mesoamerica, where we can find several representations of brawlers and gloves made out of shells, bones or stone.

The use of these gloves is shared among the Olmec, Zapotec and Maya cultures and it is also featured in the outfit of some gods such as Chaac, who wears a great stone glove which he uses to light up the sky during storms.

High Hierarchy Shaman

Greetings, Mictlantecas!

Today we want to show you this WIP of the elder healer who is being developed by our concept artists. As you can see, she is a high hierarchy shaman.

She carries some herbs, bones, mushrooms, peyotes and other stuff, useful for her creations. Her mantle is made of vegetable fibers (such as maguey and palm tree) and her staff is made of Ahuehuete wood.

This healer also has experience in battle, so we think that her potions and recipes could help the player with their offensive skills, or maybe give them more strength and agility, or even make their spells more powerful...?

Whatever will be, make sure to find you a good healer!

Xipe Totec

The cult of Xipe Totec is one of the oldest as well as one of the most multifaceted that ever existed in ancient Mexico.

Its appearance not only alluded to the renewal of the land but also to warfare. Xipe Totec flayed himself to give food to humanity.

Without his skin, he was depicted as a golden god.

We opted for this representation to highlight the fearsome aspect of this deity. Of course, this is still a WIP and the final result will likely go through changes during our development process.
