Mictlan: An Ancient Mythical Tale News

Let's be part of the same dream

From the team of Mictlan: An Ancient Mythical Tale, we would like our community to become part of this dream that, step by step, we are creating.

Therefore, for those who are interested in becoming an NPC inside the mythical world of Mictlan, fulfilling their wild dream of being in a video game, you still have the chance!

It would be a great opportunity for you and a great way of supporting us!

In these images, you can see a WIP of a female character, one of our fans!

You can choose from the three options that we're offering to our fans! We're transforming you in a NPC character in our game!

If you visit our Patron, you can choose from:
 • Basic character
 • Basic character with dialogues
 • Semi-main character

Before we launch our Kickstarter campaign, you'll have the chance to choose who you want to be; warrior, Spanish soldier, Franciscan monk, merchant or healer.
So, what will it be?
We are launching our Kickstarter campaign, with a minimum of 20K backers (have you registered yet? It only takes a minute!)

UI elements: work in progress

Dear dwellers of Mictlan, today we want to show you some of our ideas for the UI icons which you will find in the game and in the world map (have you checked the previous post?)

Inspired in the iconographic art of prehispanic cultures, but taking care of the simplicity and practicality dictated by the user experience recommendations, we created some of these symbols: health and mana bars, quick access to abilities, map icons, alert indicator for enemies, proximity indicators that will activate your compass while you explore this incredible world.

We want Mictlan to be a unique experience, so that you'll be completely immersed not only because of the story, the gameplay and the environments, but also thanks to a practical and beautiful UI.

Tell us what you think!

Meet the winner of our latest contest

We're so thrilled to announce one of our latest winners, Jose Rico, who participated in our contest by sending us his photo in order to become a character in Mictlan!,

He was particularly lucky because he is wearing one of the latest Spanish heavy armor that our 3D team just finished creating!

In Mictlan we value history and our people, both indigenous and mestizo. This is what Mexico and LATAM is made of, we are a mix of both worlds, and this is why you'll have the possibility in our game to also play as a Spanish soldier to relive the experience of the conquest in distant lands.

Everyone is welcome to join our community and enjoy our game. All of us will be part of this fantastic story.

Stay tuned for the next announcements!

We will present it to our community at the launch of our Kickstarter campaign.
But in order to launch the campaign, we need at least 20k people to register to the page. It literally takes a minute to do so, but it would mean the world to us.
Mictlan community, help us out!
Xipe Totec

Travelers of the underworld!

This is a new variant we're working on to create Xipe Totec.

Our artists are constantly working, as they add details to their models on the basis of the indications of our historians and archeology team.
What we're aiming for is a balance between history and fantasy, creating memorable characters for you to enjoy, with unique characteristics and visual elements!

Xipe Totec was a life-death-rebirth deity, god of agriculture, of spring and new vegetation. Xipe Totec wore the skin of a human victim as the symbol of a “new skin”, the "new skin" that covered the Earth in the spring.

Legends, myths, facts, history: Mictlan has it all! We're aiming at including in our game the most incredible stories, and we will continue updating you with news, concept arts, sneak&peeks of our creative process, so make sure to follow us on our social media channels to stay updated!

Tlapitzalli tubular flute

Music, dances and special rituals will be featured in Mictlan: An Ancient Mythical Tale.

Among other game assets, our wonderful 3D modeling team has been working on several musical instruments, including the Tlapitzalli tubular flute.

The ceremonial importance of the Tlapitzalli is evident in one of the most important celebrations in Tenochtitlan: the Toxcatl, when the one who is being sacrificed plays and breaks these flutes as they ascend the temple stairs. The breaking of the flute represents the death of the sacrificial victim, whose soul is lost forever.

Have you checked the other terrifying musical instrument that will be featured in the game...?
